First off I want to thank @NJDadApple and everyone else in the Kelowna Knights Organization for drafting me  Knights

"Good afternoon everybody, my name is Some Generic Reporter (SGR), and im sitting here with one of the newest Kelowna Knight’s players, Adam Scianna. So tell us Adam you’ve just been drafted by the Knight’s with the 12th Pick in the draft, what's going through your head right now?”

Adam: “Well SGR it’s definitely an honor to be drafted by these guys, coming into the draft i had no idea where and when i was going to land, and to get selected in the 2nd round is a real honor. Looking forward I’m just cant wait to get into that locker room and meeting the rest of the team”

SGR: “So Adam tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from?

Adam: “Well i was born in Trondheim, Norway to the most supportive parents you could ask for, Shout out to them! When i was 10 we moved down to Oslo to give me the opportunity to play some more competitive hockey, and I did just that and here we are today”

SGR: “So now that you have made it here to the SMJHL what steps have you taken to improve your game?”

Adam: “Well after taking a good look at my game and how the SMJHL works, one area that I have been working on prior to and will be focusing on here during training camp it Defense. It seems like a solid defensive game takes you a long way in this league so I'm going to work on improving that”

SGR: “Now lets take a look at the rest of the young talent selected by the Knight’s in this S51 draft, which of them do you look forward to playing with the most?”

Adam: “Ya with four picks between the first two rounds and then another 4 in the next three the Knights definitely seem to have done a great job bringing in a good group of young players. But the one guy I'm most looking forward to playing with from that group, is my Scandinavian brother Noah Nystrom, @LightningDragon . I played against him back in tournaments in Norway and Sweden and he’s definitely a solid player. We both play a similar game, so I'm excited to see how we both grow here in the SMJHL. Maybe we'll even play as a Defensive pairing sometime this season”

SGR: “So rumor has it that you have a pretty interesting…… lets say pre-game ritual. Tell us about that, and do you plan on continuing that here in the SMJHL?

Adam: “Ha ya, so that started a few years back at a tournament in Stockholm i believe. Pretty much what happened was, our team had made it to the quarter finals and for some reason our game for that was at some ungodly early time and i overslept my alarm. So i woke up to a slew of phone calls and text from my coaches and teammates and rushed to the rink and got there just in time. When i got to the locker room I could tell my coach was trying to give me the business , but for some reason he just couldn't keep a straight face when looking at me. And it wasn't until a buddy of mine sent me a picture from across the locker room, that i noticed that my hair was a fucking mess. And by the way i had some sick flow going at that time and it was all over the place sticking straight up and what not. So we play and win the game, i had a good game, and we get back in the locker room and just as we are all about to leave coach turns to me and says “So your showing up for tomorrow's game with your sweet hairdo right Adam, that’s what pushed us over the edge to win it.” So needless to say I showed up to both the semi’s and finals with my hair any which way, and we pulled it through was won, and the hair thing has stuck ever since. Now in terms of if it will come with me to the SMJHL that will be up to the team and coaches, but we will see. Maybe ill bring it back when playoff’s come around if not every game”

SGR: "Ok now we are going to take some questions from some people around the league. First up:

@HabsFanFromOntario
“Do you know anything about Kelowna?”

Adam: Honestly not to much, i looks like they should have similar weather to Norway, maybe a little warmer in the Summers  but not by too much so hopefully it's an easy transition

@ImShiny
What were your first thoughts when you heard you were drafted to Kelowna?

Adam: I was excited, nervous, it was all a blur after my name got called, i’m still taking it all in.

What are some of your personal goals for your rookie season?

Adam: I think for me, I just want to be a solid asset for the team, I don't know yet what D-pairing, or amount of ice time i will get yet so it's hard to quantify numbers. So I just hope that I’m able to contribute to the team when i'm on the ice.

What are some long term goals for your career?

Adam: Again i think it's too early to predict point numbers and such, but I think where I want to end up, is to be the guy that coach looks to in the tough moments. When their top line steps on the ice with a minute left and we are up by one, my hope is that I'm the first name the coach writes on the white board to go up against them.

@CFJ
Favorite NHL team?

Adam: My favorite team would have to be the Sharks, watching the way Burns and Karlsson can move the puck, and Vlassic’s shut down defense is really impressive. Now I know they didn't start this year off to strong, but they seem to be getting back into the swing of things

Where do you see yourself at the end of your SMJHL tenure?
Adam: Well like everyone i hope that i end my tenure in the SMJHL holding some hardware above my head, and looking at the guys we have signed and new guys drafted i think we could have a real competitive team

Waffles or Pancakes?

Adam:

@Briedaqueduc
Who are you looking forward to play with the most besides other rookies?

Adam: There are a couple guys currently on the team that will by fun to be on the ice with, Luca Del Vecchio @Zoone16, looks like he will be a beast between the pipes. And Kalevolaripaavo Kaspertommevisnapuu, @AlwaysGettingHaxed, just to see his name run down both sleeves.

What type of player are you trying to build? What are your strengths and your weaknesses?

Adam: Like i said previously im looking to become the teams go to guy, in either zone. I like to think my strengths are my puck moving, whether it be break out passes or setting a teammate up back door, and a physical defensive game winning the battle in the corners and in front of the net. The one area i have struggled with is the fancy stick work with the puck, your probably not going to see me going coast to coast tip tapping an egg around all five of their guys.

Where do you think the team is going to end up in the standings? Do you believe in your chances to win the cup?
Adam: I do think we will have a competitive team this season and believe we can make a solid push for the Cup.

Any teams do you look forward to play against?

Adam: Of course everyone will want to prove themselves again the two time defending champions in the Carolina Kraken. But it will also be interesting to play against the Vancouver Whalers,as like the Knight’s they also had quite a few early picks in the draft. So it will be interesting to see which teams rooks can make a difference

It's a little early to talk about it, but looking at the SHL draft next season, any teams that you would be interested to be drafted by?
Adam: I honestly dont have the faintest idea, i'm just taking this one step at a time. Step one was getting drafted, and step two is proving it the SHL teams that i’m the player they want

Are you anxious about moving to Kelowna? What do you believe will be the biggest difference with living in Norway?

Adam: well first of Kelowna is a much smaller city that Oslo, where i spent most of my time growing up. But its comparable to Trondheim where i was born, so its not completely foreign to me. I think the biggest difference from living in Norway may be people attitude, in Norway people lean more towards not getting in others way, where as in Canada, if the rumors are true, everyone is really friendly and helpful.

@Naosu
Who would you say is your NHL comparable player?

Adam: I’m thinking a Brent Burns or a Dustin Byfuglien who can both take clappers from the point, and throw the body around defensively.

Will you strive to be like Cale Makar in your rookie season?

Adam: Ya you wouldn't see me complaining with over a PPG in my first 20 Games

Do you like anime?
Adam: Its not typically my cup of tea but i’ve seen a few

@NJBadApple
What were your expectations heading into the draft, had any team reached out to you?

Adam: I didn't know what to expect coming into the draft. A few other teams had reached out to me, including Carolina, Vancouver, Anchorage, and Colorado, but its hard to tell if your at the top of someones list are just getting copy/paste feelers. I would be interested to see where other teams were considering taking me if the Knight’s hadn’t pounced first

What is the most effective way to poach an egg?

Adam: In water?

Thoughts on the SHL Draft? Any early favorites?

Adam: Like before i haven't looked to far ahead, come back to me in a few weeks and we can talk then

What is the average curing time for the best venison?

Adam: 7 days

SGR: “Well thanks again Adam for speaking with me. It was great getting to talk with you, and I wish you and the Knight’s the best in your upcoming season. And last words you want to give our listeners?”

Adam: “ No that you for having me. I just want to say thanks again to the Knight’s for drafting me and I look forward to getting out on the ice and showing what I can do.”
