Who is the best current Anchorage Armada player?

Also who is your favourite if they are not the same?

Ive heard this Daniel Bischoff fellow is by far the best Armada player, he is better then Mika was in her days in Juniors. So far this season he has managed 33 points in 26 games. This has to be on rate to surpass some historical scoring records for Anchorage. However, on the other note my favorite player has to be Mitchell van der Heijden @bluesfan55 What a team player and a locker room personality. Glad to welcome him to New Orleans.

You moved from the northern side of the country, to the south in the off-season. How goes your adaptation to the weather conditions? Do you miss snow?

You know, first Manhattan, then Minnesota. I am welcoming the warmer weather with open arms. A bit humid, but I am not snowed in and missing practices. So no, do not miss the snow at all.

What are your thoughts on the first All Star Game? Do you see it catching on in the bigs?

The All Star Game on the Juniors level was an amazing success. There is a lot of room for growth and adds a fun and exciting twist to the mid season lull. I think they have something in the works for SHL but dont take my word for that.

How do you feel Mika's and the Specters season has been going so far?

Mika of course has not had the best season. However, she is pulling the same numbers with less time. That adds amazing things to the depth of a team. Our forward core is strong and we are seeing great results from it. This could be our year. Go Specters.

thoughts on iihf and its development as of late?

will the wjc tournament continue to stall and stall?

I think IIHF and WJC could use some organizational help, but they have also undergone a lot of change recently. WJC does not fall under SMJHL, it falls under IIHF. So as far as will it continue down this path is unknown. I would advice you to ask those commissioners.

I will be more than happy to comment. We have not in HO talked about expansion recently. However, the possibility is never outside of the realm.

I know, you're a commissioner who can keep the league running, but do you have any plans to move the SMJHL forward in any aspect?

Well we did just have the release of the media bonus initiative as well as the new All Star Game. At the moment I am working on organizing everyone. With the weird off season we got put off schedule, we are planning how to avoid the holidays without to many delays. I also mentioned in my State of The Union (which I will continue every season) that we are in the process of rewriting the rulebook. This will better the clarity and miscommunication from poorly written rules. I am always open to suggestions, especially from Segi, who brought great ideas when he was in HO. I could not have done this without everyone else in HO.

Could you rank the SMJHL franchises based on their branding?

This is my personal preference and reasoning.

Carolina Kraken - This is new, its fresh. They have a color scheme not before used. Love the logo and it was very well thought out.
Anchorage Armada - I have a personal biased to ships and the navy. Plus the blue and gray are solid and the logo is neat.
Anaheim Outlaws - Also very new and fresh. This team found an identity and it shows. Loved the concept and the design came through well.
Colorado Raptors - The way the yellow and blue play together I have always been a big fan of.
Kelowna Knights - The dark green and gold are a solid combo. But the logo could use an update.
St Louis Scarecrows - Solid logo, just not up my ally. I am not a fan of the harsh scary vibes. It does play well into their island of misfit toys vibe.
Halifax Raiders - This logo was redesigned about 5 seasons ago maybe, still good
Lethbridge Lions - This logo seems content. Also second team that is red and yellow. Would not mind a rebrand. This team was brought back on an emergency basis and they never found their Identity.
Detroit Falcons - I have seen their logo in a commercial on tv. Would love something new. I also hate how much red we have going on.
Vancouver Whalers - Really. 0/10 for originality. Even the logo is stolen. The only thing they have going for them is the fact that I like the colors.

How is the Shits and Gibbles league and how poorly did I draft for team Gibbles?

For those of you who do not know, in the SMJHL GM chat we got a bit bored during the "lockout" the two interns from last season became "GMS" they drafted two teams. Shits and Gibbles. We had a separate league and simmed out own games. Team Shits, who I was proud to be the 1C of, of course won the cup.

For the SMJHL, what is your plans when it comes to punishment when they are going to be dealt out. Would you refer back to old punishments or something else?

So far in my last few seasons in SMJHL HO we have yet to have a "major" issue (there have been some minor ones that I do not personally find harsh). Of course I hope this continues, our GMs we have are a great group, however people do make mistakes. There was a time (when we got rid of the budget) when punishments involved picks and were hefty. With us being in a rule book rewrite this is something we have talked about. One thing that is important to everyone in the current SMJHL HO is transparency and communication. We want this rule book to be all inclusive. That being said, we can still miss things. So to answer the question, I will always go back to old punishments as a reference, but this does not mean they can not change. I would like to in the near future have standards written down.

As a follow up question, where would you scale the punishments. What would be like a forfiet of a 1st type of level. Would that have to be a major fuckup? and where does taking away cap be involved in the minor fuck ups.

The most common thing we see is GMs being late on their tasks. This isn’t something you want to punish the team for and results in a loss of partial pay depending on what task was late and how late. Another one I have seen in my time in head office os trading a pick you do not have. That I consider I major fuck up. Our pick tracker is excellent now. This could result in loosing more picks. Obviously things are a case by case basis and I am quick to admit if it is the fault of head office or not. We have gone a few seasons without a punishment so I do not think I can accurately give you a scale for what would require a cap hit anymore. Typically major fuck ups for consideration would be illegal players on your roster, or playing your goalie while called up.

So if the PT department and SMJHL HO played an SHL exhibition game, who would win and why?

I love the PT department but common. SMJHL HO has got this covered, easy. HO line up is RW - Joe Kurczewski, C - Mika Mayfield, RW - Alex Winters. Then on Defense we have Barret McCarthy and Sam Michaud. How more stacked and well rounded can you get?

What is your favorite team that doesn't exist anymore?

My favorite team that does not exist anymore is by far the Atlanta Thrashers. Atlanta is the closer then any other team to me and I am an Atlanta Braves fan so they make sense. Plus there logo is amazing.

Who is your favorite mascot, and why is it Gritty?

To be honest, I have always loved Honkey. Really sad he is gone this season. I also finds gritty creepy and overrated. :eyes:

If you could go to a Stanley Cup Finals (The entire series! They fly you, ritzy hotel), but neither team was St. Louis or Pittsburgh what teams would you like to see in the finals?

Alright, tossing the hard questions my way. Most teams that I like are not good, probably why I like them. I would love to see the Vegas Golden Knights. A lot of players on the team that I love. The second team I would want to see would probably be the Florida Panthers.(fun fact. I live in Florida and the Nashville Predators are the closest team to me. Disgusting.)

Do you think Mika could be the final straw to help end NOLA's string of coming up short of winning it all?

I do think Mika adds a depth to nola that many teams do not have. Playing third line helps me dominate the face offs which in turn means we have the puck more. We are definitely on pace to make the playoffs but that’s not that hard part. We will see if Mika can help them go all the way.

Any big plans for changes in the SMJHL coming soon?

At the moment we are doing a logo contest. Submissions end on the 23rd. Shameless plug. As for big plans. No. We are getting busy with trade deadline approaching. I’ve worked hard on organizing both head offices and communications between them. Even made a calendar. I have also started a side project that the interns have been amazing at helping me with. I am looking at the depth of Juniors. I have a spreadsheet with all the rosters so I can see how many actives vs inactives we have. This will also tell me how many players will age out this offseason. Knowing this information is crucial to be less caught off guard by an expansion (not happening)

Favorite fast food place and what do you get there?

Hmm favorite fast food. This is a hard question. I used to love whataburger but they got rid of there chop house cheddar burger. So now I’m mad at them. I am however obsessed with this food truck in town. I consider it fast food. More times than not I get a Philly cheesesteak. They are known for experimenting with their food and I love it. What foods do not go well with the greatest thing ever, Mayo?

Originally I wanted to say chocolate, however, I have actually seen a bunch of cake recipes with mayo in it. It is mainly Eggs and oil after all. So maybe already made cake? If it is not a drink, you can probably put mayo in it or on it.
