JS: And for today's starting line up, we have for St. Louis :

Danny Marston at Center, flanked by Ruslan Zaporozhets and James Ronlain, and the defensive pairing of Flash Gordon paired with Axel Meszaros.

JG: Meszaros is a S53 rookie who's in his first season in the SMJHL, and he's done pretty well for himself to get on the first pairing on a strong St. Louis team, John. Flash Gordon is also impressing this season as he is 2nd on the Scarecrows for points while being a defenceman.

JS: Indeed John, St. Louis has some up-and-coming players on their roster that we'll see on a SHL team in the near future. Detroit on the other hand has a team that is a lot younger and greener, as they are still in their rebuild. This year they have an amazing 12 rookies on their team, but are vying for the top spot!

The Falcons starting line-up is:

Luke McMaster at Center, with Cal Labovitch at Left Wing and Kaarlo Kekkonen on Right Wing, with the defensive duo of Magnus Liljestrom and Guy O'Shea behind them.

JG: Now that Falcons top line is something else, they're currently dominating the SMJHL in scoring and is the offensive engine of the Falcons. Labovitch and Kekkonen are neck and neck for the team points lead for a bit, but then Kekkonen exploded in the last few games and gained a clear lead. McMaster is third, so that's something to watch as well.

JS: We'll see which teams' offensive prowess lets them get the upper hand in this match up, as both teams have given up a lot of goals while scoring a lot of goals, but you can only outshoot your problems so much, John!

JG: If you can't outshoot them, just put some mustard on them and eat them! That's what I did with those plant-based hotdogs my wife got me the other day.

JS: Thanks for the tip, John... I think.

1st Period Start

JS: And we are underway here in the first period, as the faceoff is won by Danny Marston for the Scarecrows, who draws it back to Flash Gordon.

Liljestrom hits Gordon, however, and jars the puck loose.

Ruslan Zaporozhets collects for St. Louis, and enters the Falcons zone and lets loose with a long wrist shot from the blue line - it doesn’t make it all the way and is intercepted by Guy O’ Shea.

JS: O’Shea is stripped of the puck by Gordon, and a shot is fired towards Jobin,

It is steered aside to the corner, and James Ronlain goes to collect for the Scarecrows, firing a shot from a sharp angle that caroms to the other corner.

Marston goes in to retrieve the puck, but Liljestrom is all over him!

The two tussle their way into the corner and battle it out for the puck.
