Noah's Simple Pregame Chili Recipe
400+ words

Most players tend to have a go-to pregame meal that they devour before taking the ice. Noah is no different, and he's offered up his pregame (and postgame) chili recipe to share with the rest of league. He's been eating this meal before every single game over the course of the past few seasons. He's even been spotted scarfing down a bowl in the locker room in between periods. This recipe is so simple that even @thiefofcheese could make it.

Ingredients:
  • 1 can of black chili beans
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (chili ready preferred)
  • 1 lb of ground beef (subsitute with chicken or turkey if you wish)
  • 1 chili seasoning packet
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider
Instructions:
  1. Start by browning the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. You want to get that meat nice and cooked because eating raw beef can wreck your stomach before a game, and nobody wants that (unless maybe you're really nervous about playing on a given night and need an excuse to miss the game).
  2. Once the beef is cooked, drain the fat into the garbage. Do not dump the greasy fat down your drain!
  3. Go ahead and rip open that seasoning packet and dump it onto the meat once you've finished draining the fat. Mix the seasoning in real nice until the beef is coated evenly with the seasoning.
  4. Next, pour in the cans of beans and tomatoes and stir them all together with the seasoned beef.
  5. Here's where this chili recipe really comes into its own. Add the 1/4 cup of brown sugar and then the cup of apple cider. Stir this all together.
  6. Bring the chili to a boil. You should really be smelling the chili goodness by this point, but you'll have to try your hardest to wait!
  7. Once the chili comes to a boil, cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let the chili simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. After the 10 minutes is up, the chili should be ready to eat and you can begin serving. Be careful though, the chili will be very hot at this point and you don't want to burn your tongue!
  9. Optional - Noah likes to serve his chili with garlic bread, so feel free to throw some Texas Toast garlic bread in the oven to serve alongside your meal.
