Manhattan Team Awards

Manhattan Management has decided to add a new feature to the franchise. After every season the players and staff will vote for different awards. These awards range from Most Valuable Player to the Heart of The Lockerroom.

After a successful season seeing the Manhattan Rage make the playoffs once again. The Rage was able to keep their momentum going through the playoffs into the finals. In the finals, the Rage was able to secure the victory with a 4-2 series win over the San Fransico Pride. Many Rage players will receive nominations and hopefully awards for their efforts from the league. These team awards are to show the love and support the team has for one another and to recognize players who may not get the recognition they deserve.

Roy Razin Award (Most Valuable Player)

This player was the centerpiece for the team. Without them, we would have never had been successful. They were the person the team looked to for wins and to be able to be clutch in the most important moments.

The Winner is

Peter Larson! @Tomasnz

Peter Larson was unstoppable throughout the season. Notching 28 wins, 18 losses, and 1 overtime loss. Larson leads the league in save percentage having a .921% in 43 games played. Larson was also in the top 3 goals-against average in the league having a 2.66 GGA. Leading the league in shutouts is also Larson with 5 shutouts. Larson was the reason for Manhattan getting to the playoffs and winning key games along the way.

Alex Winters had this to say about Larson “Lars was the biggest reason we got things across the line this year. He took a huge step forward, after some perhaps undeserved criticism last year, but he deserves all the credit for the hard work he put in in the offseason to get to this new level and elevate his game”

Wyatt Wolker Award (Best Defensemen)

The best defensemen award goes to the defensemen who excelled in all defensive categories as well as offensive categories. This play was the heart of the blue line leading the defense and playing a key part in locking down opposing teams!

The Winner is

Barrett McCarthy! @Inf1d3l

McCarthy was solid throughout the regular season. Leading the Rage defensemen in points with 44 and also being in the top 3 for defensemen points. McCarthy had an impressive +/- of 16 and also has 107 hits with 47 shots blocked. McCarthy held down the blue line for the Rage throughout the season!

When asked about McCarthy fellow defensemen Andrej Doskcoil said "He is a complete package, able to bring some offense as well as being extremely responsible on the back end, there is little that he doesn't do and little that he does poorly, and a fantastic #1 Dman for any franchise which was proven by him leading this defensive core to the cup"

Ace Redding Award (Best Two-Way Player)

The Ace Redding Award goes to the forward who was able to contribute offensively and defensively throughout the regular season. This player held down the defensive zone and was able to score and set up teammates in the offensive zone.

The Winner is

Alex Winters! @39alaska39

Winters was unstoppable this season on both offense and defesne. Winters was first in team scoring having 54 points. Defenseilvey Winters was excellent having the most shots blocked by a forward with 25 while also having an impressive +/- of 15.

David Kastrba said this about Winters "Alex is just incredible, someone who proved he was a huge asset to the team almost as soon as he touched our ice, ya know? And he just keeps getting better! The vision that guy has is mind-blowing, to be honest. It doesn’t matter who has the puck, teammate or not, he knows exactly where it is and where he has to be. He’ll steal the puck before anyone on the other team can even react and then he’s off creating some spectacular play happen in the other end. He’s one of those players that are just so exciting to watch play the game."

Tokek Tokshak Award (Unsung Hero)

The Tokek Tokshak award goes to the player who may not be the flashiest or gets the most points. However, they are crucial to the team. They are someone the team can rely on to play well and consistently every game.

The Winner Is

Andrej Doskocil! @Citizen of Adraa

Andrej Doskocil had a fantastic year with the team. Getting a season-high in points with 22, while also being one of the top defensemen for the Rage. Doskocil got 118 hits and 56 shots blocked to cap off his impressive year. Doskocil will be one of the top defensemen in many seasons to come and he improves more and more.

Captain Barret McCarthy had this to say about his fellow defensemen "Doskocil has, from the beginning of the season through winning the cup, played well outside his normal self, showing the league that even though he is young, he is absolutely a first-line defenseman. His physicality and ability to put his body on the line to make the big play doesn't show up on a stat sheet, but it shows up on a dominant cup run for sure"

Alex Winters Award (Rookie of the Year)

The Rookie of the year goes to a rookie who showed huge potential and drive in their first season. They were a huge contributor to the team on both offense and defense. They have a lot of potential and the rest of the team is excited to watch them grow as a person and as a player.

The Winner Is

Phineas Gold! @Z0REM

Phineas Gold had a hell of a rookie season. Gold was able to get 25 points in his first season while also getting 13 shots blocked. Gold had a very clean game only taking one penalty all season. Gold looks to be a bright young star for the Rage and is looking like he will become a top player sooner than later.

Defensemen Reginald MacIntrye had this to say about Gold's rookie season "For our Rookie of the Year award, among our three rookies, not only did Phineas Gold have the longest time, but he had the best time. With 12 goals and 13 assists during the regular season, including two game-winning goals and a game-tying goal, at a rate of .6 points per 20 minutes, he led our rookie class in scoring. Gold shone brightly in his first postseason as well. In the Rage's 19-game campaign to lift the Cup, he scored 4 goals and 8 assists, including the game-winner in Game 7 of our Eastern Conference semifinals against Chicago. The icing on his claim was his second-star performance with the opening goal and a later assist in Game 6 of the Challenge Cup Finals. For leading the charge from the first game, providing crucial support throughout, and performing like a star in the ultimate spotlight, it's clear Phineas Gold is most deserving of our Rookie of the Year Award."

Jardy Buclewirth Award (110%)

This award is given to the player who shows great effort on and off the ice. They are always giving their best effort in every aspect of the game. On the ice they are pushing themselves past their limits, off the ice they are involved in everything they can and helping out any way they can.

David Vent! @ImShiny

Vent is coming off of another consistent year for the Rage. Getting over 10 points again while also getting over 50 hits and 50 shots blocked. Off the ice Vent is constantly working on team bonding activities for the team. Vent is always trying to help teammates and management wherever he can.

Rookie defencemen Derek Bohne Jr. said this about Vent "Vent is by far one of the biggest voices on the team. On the ice, in the locker room, at team meetings and team dinners. This is obviously a team game, but I really feel like Vent helped to pull us all together as a cohesive unit and play for each other. Obviously it's not as literal as it was in the movie, but any time we had a slump going as a team our practices would resemble the practices in Miracle. Who do you play for kind of stuff? We might have won as the Manhattan Rage, but without pushing us the extra five, six, or seven reps at practice - taking all of us out to dinner - embedding that team-first mentality - there's really no saying what would have happened. Vent absolutely deserves to be the Jardy Buclewirth Award winner, and we can't stress enough how much we're looking forward to bringing it back home again next season!

David Vent Award (Heart of the Lockerroom)

This award is given to the player who is always upbeat in the locker room. They are always friendly to everyone and always willing to listen and be there for people. Despite if there are hardships or even when everything is going well, this player is always being a shining spot for the team and everyone else.

David Vent! @ImShiny

Vent is always talking in the locker room. Every day he comes into the locker room cracking jokes with players and trying to get everyone going. During losses, he is always trying to keep everyone head up and to keep them pushing forward. Vent tries his best to get to know everyone and to be friends with each person that is on the team.

General Manager Jakub Aittokallio said this about Vent "The greatest example of what Vent brings to the team is when we have new members join the team. He's the guy who invites people in, who offers them advice and takes them out to show them the family atmosphere of the team. Everybody goes to him to talk, and to feel that brotherly love. It's a talent he has to connect with every single one individually and make them feel welcome."
