S54 Championship Week

This season was another rebuilding year for the North Stars. We finished a bit better than last year but still are a few years away. Overall, I had a sub-par season in my opinion; with fully taking over 2C duties, my point total did not increase. I had a decent amount of goals, but I am hoping to get my assists up big time. I am hoping for a strong off-season and to bank some TPE so I can help put my team in a better position to win. I know we are still rebuilding, but I hope to be a part of the core moving forward so improving is the only option. We overall should have a better team on the ice next season, so I think with the overall improvement of the team, my player will improve too. I hope to have a 20-20 season for my team, and I honestly think it is possible with the right offseason training and linemates next season.

Watch party at my crib! We here in the North Stars locker room are planning on having a massive viewing party at my house this year. What are our watch parties like you ask? It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Music, food, hockey, and friends… what more can you ask for? This year we are getting food catered from the top restaurant in Toronto and plan to party all nice. Okay, probably not party all night, it’s not like we have anything to celebrate our season was awful. But we will enjoy your time, makes for a great team bonding experience and get closer as a team. For the boys who don’t want to watch the game, they are free to check out my game room, loaded with a bunch of video games. Also, only Xbox’s no PS4… sorry, this is an XBOX household. We hope for a nice relaxed watch party and just some time away from the rink but still with the boys.

We need to start a search party immediately. We must find Andrei Kostitsyn's brother Sergei ASAP. Has anyone checked all the ice rinks? Local burger shops? The malls? This is an SHL emergency… we need all hands on deck for this case. I will notify the local newspaper and publish a story right away… MISSING BROTHER… is the clean? I’m not going to lie, this is the first I’m hearing of this missing person case… where has everyone else been? Is he actually missing or just missing from scoresheets? Okay maybe too soon for that joke, but for real we must find Andrei Kostitsyn's brother Sergei ASAP.

You already who I’m rocking with… Team Canada. I think Canada will sweep both the IIHF & WJC this year and every year for the rest of the time. My loyalty runs deep for the RED & WHITE and I will never bet against my homeland. As a former player and GM for Team Canada at WJC a couple of years back, I have complete faith in my country to come out victorious and the at least medal if not first place GOLD baby. In all seriousness, Canada is always a strong contender to the medal and this year will be no different. We breed hockey players and that is not going to change anytime soon, so if anyone has a problem… I have 1 answer for you: beat us. If you ain’t with us , you against us & in this case, everyone is against us… so GO TEAM CANADA TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF.

My hard Hockey, you inspire me to write.
How I love the way you shoot, skate and block,
Invading my mind day and through the night,
Always dreaming about the mighty rock.

Let me compare you to a friendly fly?
You are more flighty, unfriendly and fun.
Wild drought dries the dun picnics of July,
And summertime has the nighty spray gun.

How do I love you? Let me count the ways.
I love your whitey helmets, pucks and sticks.
Thinking of your awkward pucks fills my days.
My love for you is the one politics.

Now I must away with a cordial heart,
Remember my mild words whilst we're apart.

Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season?
While I did not have a ton of personal goals, I think I did pretty darn well this season. All I really wanted to do realistically was maybe match my previous year. Last season I had 56 points in 50 games, with 31 goals. This season, I had 47 points, with 30 goals. That's 2 seasons in a row with 30 goals, which is huge for me, and I love that consistency, especially with my first season being regressed. I think if I can try and match those 30 goals for next season and put up another 50 points or so, that would be golden for both myself and my Calgary Dragons team. It's not easy to put up multiple 30 goal seasons in the SHL, so if I can do it 3 times in a row, that would be amazing. The key to winning games is scoring goals, and if I can provide that game in and game out....well, we're set.

Well, dang. Your team didn't make the finals this season - my condolences to you. Are you and your teammates planning on watching the finals even though you're not in it? If so, what are your watch parties like? If not, are you still following the finals or trying to ignore it completely? What are you and your teammates doing together (if anything) instead of following along? (if you're on Hamilton or New Orleans, or either of the 2 SMJHL teams that soon will be playing in the finals - congrats and sorry :p this one isn't for you!)
While us on the Calgary Dragons are very disappointed in our playoff loss, we definitely followed along with the Challenge Cup Finals. I think a lot of people not on the Hamilton Steelhawks want them to lose. Personally I do not care either way what happens when it is not related to Calgary Dragons, but I guess if I had to choose, I would want the New Orleans Specters to win. The Steelhawks build teams to win, seemingly very specifically, so it is nice to see them go down. Us on the Dragons followed along with the finals and the friends and ex-teammates we all have that were on those other teams. While it sucks to see us lose as Dragons, it is nice to our old friends win that are part of those teams. Whatever the case, it doesn't really matter if it's not Calgary Dragons related. We were all happy to see New Orleans roll through Hamilton the way that they did, so the off-season can get underway ASAP.

S54 IIHF Predictions - with one FHM IIHF season under our belt, we've got a bit more of a sense of how the tournament might play out in the new sim engine. What are your predictions for the S54 IIHF or WJC tournament - how do you think your team will fare this season? Who do you think are the biggest contenders to take home the hardware and why?
I feel like this season it's a little harder to say who is the clear cut favourite in this new engine. Canada and USA seem to always be primed to do well, so there is that. If I had to guess, I would say either of those teams would win it because they have proven to be contenders in IIHF many times. My player MIkael Choybuk is on Austria, and while I do think we have a decent chance to win, I'm not sure that we have what it takes to push over the top. Although, if Choybuk keeps scoring at the rate he has in the IIHF tournament and even the SHL, I think things are looking up. Us in Austria have a really good team, but it's not going to be easy. If all things start clicking, then we do have what it takes. Flacko Lagerfield just retired as well, so that's some big skates to fill.

With only one champion in the SHL and the SMJHL per season, that means the other 26 teams came up just a bit short (or a lot short). Team owners know that fans can get frustrated by shortcomings, so they're always trying to keep optimism high in the fan base. Written option: give an excerpt from an ousted team's owner's press conference at the end of the season focusing on the team's bright future or however they can keep fans' optimism high. Graphic option: the team has rented a billboard in town with an inspiring message to fans to keep optimism high; show the billboard (must include team logo and whatever the optimistic message is).
We in the Calgary Dragons organization are down but we will not remain out. We are strong here as a team and together we will come back next season and chase the cup like we always have. We have the biggest fight in our hearts, bigger than the rest of the SHL. Many times we have looked like we were finished, and many times we have proven time and time again that we are not to be reckoned with. Do not take us lightly. We will be back next season, and we will be back to set fire to the SHL like Dragons do. I am proud of what we accomplished last season. We made the playoffs despite maybe not looking like it was possible at some points. We fought hard in the post-season, and this season just wasn't ours. I want my team to know that I believe we can achieve greatness once again. We will bring the cup back to Calgary, soon enough.

a. These are absolutely two of the best goaltenders in the league in Cain and Kryyst - which team has the advantage in net in this series?
b. There are two Johnsons in this series - Gabriel (HAM) and Darnell (NOLA). In fact, the two used to host the Johnson & Johnson Podcast together, but they're now on the ice as bitter rivals. Which team has the better Johnson?
c. The Specters won both regular season matchups, but Hamilton finished with better team stats overall. Do regular season head-to-heads provide an accurate forecast for a playoff series? (answer predictively if it hasn't happened yet; reactively if it has.)
d. If SDCore offered you an all-expenses paid week-long vacation to either New Orleans or Hamilton, which city would you choose to go to? (tough choice I know lol.) How would you spend your time there?
Heading into the playoffs, it looked like Hamilton would have the edge in goaltending. Moving into the finals though, it looks like the opposite. Aleister Cain has shown in this post-season that he is ready to win the cup, and his stats back it up. I think he is too much of a force for Hamilton and Kryyst to get past.

Patric Twist had a really strong season.  It was my third season in Juniors and I finally hit the 425 cap at the end of the season.  Even without being a capped player I put up 18 Goals and 21 assists for 39 points.  I also like to think I played a role in helping my linemate Ryuuji Minamino lead the league in points.  I played on the 2nd Powerplay unit and the 1st Penalty Kill unit.  Was top 5 in +/- for what that’s worth.  Patric takes pride in being able to handle any and all situations so he definitely did that.  My goal for the player was to be a big possession driver. Maybe I don’t put up the nutty point totals but I’m a play driver who opens space for my teammates.  Since I will be a capped player all of next season I am hoping I will be able to crack the top 10 in scoring.  Getting both my linemates up there again would be excellent as well.

It has been publicized a decent amount on this site but Hamilton prospect Andrei Kostitsyn's brother Sergei appears to be missing. Does anybody know where Sergei? What have you done/what can you do to help Andrei track down his brother?

I’m on Newfoundland with (Clean) Andrei and this is such a constant source of pain for him.  Imagine his lifelong friend, the person he’s grown up beside, his linemate forever.  And he hasn’t seen or heard from him in years.  Our team makes it a point to go to every bar, brewery and winery we come across to look for Sergei.  We ask any one we meet if they’ve seen brother Sergei.  Our opening line with every Tinder match is “do you know where Sergei is”?  We haven’t had any luck yet.  But (Clean) Andrei is our brother.  Which makes Sergei our brother by extension.

1. It was my first season as the starter for Maine. I think I did a relatively good job. Going into the season, I was told to concentrate more on my stamina and endurance. This helped me immensely with staying focused and at the top of my game day in and day out. It also helped me realise some individual targets. I recorded my first SMJHL shutout and started my rise to the top of the Timber win rankings.
However, we didn't make the playoffs. That was a massive goal of mine, to prove myself in the playoff arena, but it was not to be.
I was told by my coaches to spend more time training against low shots. The majority of goals conceded by me were in the five hole area. This is something that I feel I need to definitely improve next season.
Overall, I feel the season to be an almost complete success. Missing the playoffs hurt, but there is always next season.

2. Here in Maine, the season ended with our last game. We didn't particularly fancy watching the playoffs (similar to last season), but we figured that we'll give it a shot. I mean, how hard can it be?. Really hard. 10 minutes into the first game we gave up. Trying to save the night, we decided to binge watch "Friends". After season 3 we switched back to the hockey. It was the circle of life and we were trapped in it.
After an obviously bad night, we desperately wanted to finish on a high. So that's when I chucked in the idea of a team barbecue. Needless to say, it was a complete success. Having such a wide array of nationalities in the team, meant a wide array of food. Although some people recommended seasoning my Lamb Korma with Vodka.
It ended up being one of the better evenings of the season, with lots of laughter, food and things that aren't generally compatible with pro hockey life.

3. Having played with Andrei, his brother going missing was certainly sad news. I almost immediately started putting up posters around Maine and even posted virtual posters on the internet. Unfortunately, I got no responses. We organised several search parties around the SHL cities to try and locate Sergei, but unfortunately we found no trace of him anywhere. We have at this point pretty much given up on trying to locate Sergei. The posters have stayed up, but I'm starting to question their use. Please, if anyone has any news about the whereabouts of Sergei, don't hesitate to contact me or your local police force.

1) My player had a really good year both on and off the ice. My player has successfully passed the 1200 tpe earned and will keep growing throughout the off season. Coming into the season I wanted to average a certain number of minutes and I did not hit that goal. I was mostly used on the third line and at the end of the day I want to do what is best for the team and we did end up having a very successful season. I was also disappointed with how my player performed in the offensive end of the ice. I did see really good growth in the defensive end but at the end of the day I always wanted to be a very offensive player but once again what the team needed this season was a great two way player that focused on getting the puck up to the forwards quick. I want to try and make more offensive plays next season and work my way to more power play ice time. (3)

3) It is very sad that Andrei’s brother has gone missing. I think that the best course of action to try and track down his brother would be to put his pictures on many different things such as milk cartons, hockey equipment, and billboards. I think that billboards will be the best course of action to help find his brother because people all around the world can see them from their houses or highways where people are often at. Putting a good picture of Sergei will help the search as these people will be able to see how good of a person Sergei is and how important it is that he is found safe and brought home. (2)

4) The IIHF is a great time for the SHL to all come together and watch every country battle it out. I believe that team USA will win the IIHF again. I am on team USA and we once again have a very good strong offense, defense, and goaltending. We have the best goalie in the SHL and one of the best defenders. On offense we have a solid top nine that will always be able to match up with any other country’s top line. Our defense will need to be quick and very smart to not make any mistakes and get the puck up to the star forwards who will do all the work for us. I think that the USA, Russia, and Finland will be the best contenders to winning the IIHF gold medal. All three of these teams have very good depth and in tournaments like this the depth is what matters the most. (3)

5) I think that the New Orleans Specters defense DeMarcus Smyth has the best chance to make the hall of fame. Smyth has had a great career and he still have quite a few good years left to build on to his already hall of fame resume. He has won a cup with the specters, has won numerous awards and IIHF medals. What’s more important that all of these awards are how good of a teammate that Smyth is. He is one of the most well-respected players in the league. Smyth will be a first ballot hall of famer as he showed that he was a top forward in the league and a defenseman. (2)

13a) The New Orleans Specters have the best goaltender in the league. Cain is a future hall of famer and is the best goalie in this series. Cain has the better stats throughout the regular season and the playoffs. The Specters goalie just has the Steelhawks number throughout his career and will keep having their number in this series. (1)

13b) The better Johnson is clearly the better looking one and that is the Specters Johnson. The Specters Johnson has it all on and off the ice. He has great puck handling skills, great defensive skills, and great leadership skills. Off the ice he is a great teammate and a down right stud. (1)

13d) If I was given a free trip to either Hamilton or New Orleans, I would pick New Orleans. New Orleans has all the great events during championship week; the food is the best and better than anything in Hamilton in my opinion. New Orleans also has the best people in the world, and they are all very good fans of the Specters. (1)

16) Serpe (3)

Task 1:

Oliver Klozoff had a pretty strong season, I mean I always have strong seasons let's be honest. I excelled in the defensive zone and was great at blocking shots, I think I Ied the team in that statistic. My goal is to always be the strongest defensive player on the ice and I think blocking shots is a key element to my game. So I was happy about that, but there's a couple parts of my game I could work on for next year. My offense could use some improvement. It's not something I have focused on yet in my career so that's one area I could try to better in next season. Maybe add a few more goals and assists. That and I would like to hit more so I can knock people out of the games and sleep with their wives afterwards. That's probably my main goal for next season, I'll let you know how it goes.

All in all I was very happy with how Cillian Kavanagh performed this season in net for the Kelowna Knights. Of course it was not the ending we had hoped for after having an outstanding regular season but nonetheless it was a standout individual effort for the Norway netminder. This year brought out a great save percentage and GAA that I can attribute to outstanding defensive performance by the Kelowna blue line. Alot of goalies performed very well this season so it should be an interesting awards ceremony! Shoutout to an outstanding performance to my right hand man, Peter Ramsey who has a very solid career ahead.

Next season brings on a new challenge; the SHL. I am looking forward to seeing how Cillian fairs against SHL player pedigree. I'll be along side Geezus Kryyst in net and hope to have a success first season under his wing. We're coming for you West!

Well if you asked me to answer this question prior to the playoffs I would have told you I couldn't because the Knights would be in the finals. Unfortunately that was not the case as the Knights took an early 2nd round exit. "I won't be watching the Finals this season" Cillian says, "I want to focus on the more important things like family and friends". Cillian plans to head home to Ireland to see family before he begins to prep for the upcoming season in the SHL. He also plans to use the time to say goodbye to his friends and fellow teammates in Kelowna. "Kelowna has been my home for the past few seasons and although I couldn't bring home the cup for them, I have enjoyed my time there and I look forward to seeing them all play at the next level."

Cillian doesn't do much partying especially when he's on the brink of breaking out in the SHL. Cillian has an exciting season on the horizon backing up the newly acquired Kryyst in the net for San Francisco. "I just hope my teammates will let me hang around the Discord LR and won't kick me out because I'm being called up".

Kostitsyn's brother Sergei has seen to have taken the SHL by storm in the past season. I know where Sergei isn't I can start there. I know he isn't in the Kelowna locker room nor the Pride. Perhaps Sergei is hiding from his brother? Perhaps he has returned to his hometown in Belarus? A quick Google search has told me that he is currently an unrestricted free agent in the KHL. He may be in hiding practicing his hockey skills to hope make the team next season. I can't speak much from the KHL but I heard it is similar to a UFC ring in which hitting takes priority of shooting. Vodka is also a must post game. Seems like a great league..wonder if they need a goalie.

What are your predictions for the S54 IIHF or WJC tournament - how do you think your team will fare this season? Who do you think are the biggest contenders to take home the hardware and why?

I am looking forward to make my debut for Norway this upcoming IIHF season. After being recruited by Captain Scianna, I would say we have a great chance at getting to the medal round this season. With a strong D-core anything is possible! Top contenders look to be Canada, the USA and Great Britain. Although Canada did very well in the round robin last season they didn't place in the medal round. I believe they are coming back hungrier than ever, and without Gabriel Johnson I believe they will see theirselves atop the teams come the end of it. Don't count Norway out however as we are building a stronger lineup and could be a real threat in the near future.

As for Juniors I believe it to be anyone's game due to how spread out country wise players are and closer to each other and TPE. Unfortunately may rely most on RNG at the end of the day which is tough to say but the god honest truth.

It was only my second season in the SHL but it was an extremely large improvement from my rookie season. I went from mediocre 3rd line plug to solid 2nd line two way center. I didn’t have much in the way of expectations this season, but I exceeded anything I might have set and performed in exactly the style I want my player to be. It’s been my goal to be a Ryan O’Reilly type of player and while I might no longer be looking to be a king at faceoffs, I want to be a great two way and defensive center. I went from 11 points and -4 to 43 points and +35 this season. Mostly in the 1100s for TPE this season I’m already playing a great role for the team. I also dropped from 36 to 6 penalty minutes and my net giveaway/takeaways went from +4 to +12. I really couldn’t ask for much more, if I am to have the same performance next season I will be very happy.

It’s time for another IIHF and Canada looks as strong as it has any of the past seasons. The dark age of Gabe Johnson as fed head has come and gone and the golden age of Noka is here. Obviously I have to go with my bias and go for the good old choice of Canada wins against USA in the gold medal round. As we all know however, Canada will go undefeated in the round robin and then maybe get lucky with a bronze finish. I’m in a special position for the next season or two as I’ve made a personal sacrifice for the greater good. I’ve put myself in IIHF purgatory after finally making the roster the previous season. If I didn’t volunteer to bench myself Canada would have lost the great player Maxime Bouchard to transfer, but I think it’s a better long term move for the squad to keep him. I hope with the upgrade of him for me this stacked roster can finally win gold.

There have been a lot of questions as to the determination and willing to play factor. While all the right answers were said to the media, another early exit with the dragons and the fact that the contract was up after this year has left Vrzala to start to wonder what his future will hold. Next season, Vrzala will have a lot of questions to answer again so he will hopefully get a contract and be able to prove his worth on the ice before the age factor really starts to catch up to them. The veteran player in the league with some solid upside in his defensive game with little to no offense, has considered opening up his game to a wider playstyle to be more attractive in case the dragons are ready to move on.

2. This year has been a really odd one for Bernik Vrzala. As much as he loves hockey and skating for fun, something seems to be nagging at him. Whether it was an injury that he was playing through or some other kind of undisclosed information, something off in Vrzala which has led him to taking a sabbatical from all hockey news for the longest time. Instead of watching the game, for the first time in as far as he could remember he would not be part of the festivities that surrounded the finals of the cup handing out. Just taking some alone time with his girlfriend to get away from their lives and the stress. A nice cozy place in the north that still had ice enough to skate now and again. Taking the time to work on a few things while skating and heal out for the rest of the season. The dragons would be around when he got back and they had their weekly casino night to look forward to, but during the finals, Vrzala just needed time.

4. The best and most important prediction that can come from this IIHF is the Czechs and their incoming dominance. There are a full list of Cup Winners that are on the roster and some of the most elite players in the game hail from there. The past few seasons of IIHF games have proven that the Czechs know exactly what has to be done in order to win and are willing to put the time and the energy in to win the big prize. With the fact that many of the czech youths are in the World team, I would predict that there are still some stand out players that would most likely be the real highlights from the World team that bear a Czech heritage. As usual, the other big powers in the world of hockey have a good streak of winning in clutch moments so any of the top four teams from the past few season have the power to make a lot of noise when the going gets going.

6. David Vent should absolutely be a regular on air personality when he finally hangs up the skates. If the broadcast team could afford all the sear penalties that would accompany the partnership, the insight that Vent has is certainly unique. What he has learned from the Manhattan rage has been invaluable to his player development and the fact that Vent is a cup champion means that he has been in games and locker rooms that have exactly the kind of insight that is needed for the limelight. Vent is also a comedic genius as his father was an absolute clown and those jeans were clearly hand me downs. The other benefit to having Vent in the booth would be the ability to break down Hockey's most unexplainable aspects that come out in the defensive side of the game, as a lot of defensive plays do not make it into the state sheets.

13a. Cain is the goalie that I give the edge to when talking about the goaltending match up. Now you can talk about defensive schemes and how each goalie is well protected and how the other end of the ice plays good defense by putting the puck in the other net, but Cain just has the better natural talent in my summation.

1: simon takshak, son of tokek takshak, had an excellent preseason, i dont know how many points he got but it was good. unfortunately he was not as good in the regular season and his knights fell short in the WCF. he sucked and was bad, he sucks and is bad, and presumably he will suck and will continue to be bad.

Simon takshak was not actually bad this season, to be honest. with 30 points, 16 goals, 105 hits and about 30 shots blocked Simon was a force on the ice but still fell short of his own lofty expectations. when i started writing this i thought that there were 82 games because like simon i am a dumb idiot.

simon will aim for 200 hits next season, abusing his 300 pound 5 foot body to its limits. bing bang boom. his plan is to sit in front of the net and bang bodies. he will not move from that spot.

3: Sergei kostitsyn, brother of andrei kostitsyn, is somebody that simon takshak has spent time and effort looking for. simon frequently goes through the hamilton phonebook, dialing every number and asking if they have seen sergei. Normally he gets hung up on. Andrei has commended Simon for his efforts, and both hope that Sergei will be found at some point in the future. Andrei dearly misses his brother sergei, after all. Simon believes that Sergei has been kidnapped by the man known as 'Mr. Clean', as everyone knows that Andrei is very clean and Mr. Clean cannot have that competition for the title of 'clean'

5: @JSSs player, flacko lagerfield, is a stinky player and is pretty bad. Much like jss, who is a stinky person and also bad. however jss's stinky player flacko lagerfield has a good chance of making the hall of fame which would then become a stinky place. This is because despite his horrendous scent and horrific appearance (he is very ugly much like jss) he scores a lot of points. unfortunately he is very ugly and thus if the hall of fame committee sees his ugly face he may not be voted in because he is very ugly and smells bad

Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season?
Andreas Kvalheim, along with his Texas Renegades, had a resurgent season after finishing at the bottom of the Western Conference in Season 53. Kvalheim doubled his points total, going from a hugely disappointing 30 points to 60 points this past season. As the second highest TPE forward in the league, I was expecting a big showing from Kvalheim, maybe putting up around a point per game, but this season went even better than expected. Additionally, my two-way play remained strong, which should put me in contention for the Jeff Dar Trophy. This strong showing can definitely be attribute to the Renegades new coaching staff, led by Puoli. He put in a lot of work over the off season, putting builds together for the entire team, and this effort definitely showed up in the regular season, with the Renegades just barely missing out on the play offs on a tiebreaker on the last day of the regular season.

Looking at the upcoming IIHF tournament, I do not expect there to be any big changes from the previous season, especially among the top teams. The big three probably consists of Canada, USA, Czechia, which are the teams I would guess to have the most TPE. Germany and Great Britain probably make up the next tier, and these five teams are probably the only ones that have a realistic shot at the medals. My team, Norway, has some good high end talent with elite players such as Kvalheim, Van Otter, Scholz and Muerto, but we're lacking in depth. With a small player pool, we're forced to play some junior players, who are great prospects, but just don't have enough TPE to compete at this level. Realistically, we have a shot at making the medal rounds, especially since we're in the easier group for the tournament, but I do not expect much more than that.

Which player from the Steelhawks or Specters has a great chance to make the Hall of Fame when their playing days are up? Make the case for that player's HOF bid.
The Steelhawks probably have three slam dunk hall of famers on their team in Flacko Lagerfield, Geezus Kryst, and Robert Phelps. Of these three, I want to focus on Robert Phelps because he is approaching some incredible career milestones. With 906 career points, Phelps is already among the all time leaders in points. In the absence of a Bojo box, I'd guess he is somewhere around 5th or 6th all time. On points alone, Phelps is probably a Hall of Famer, but with multiple Cups and his status as the best player in Steelhawks' history, he is a lock for the HOF. Phelps has shown no signs of slowing down, but he's entering his 20th season now, so it will be interesting to see if he can reach 1000 points, a milestone that has only ever been reached by three others.

Which team has the better Johnson?
a. Before the series, I would have said that Hamilton had the clear advantage in net with Geezus Kryyst, who is probably the best goaltender in the SHL currently. He was on fire in the series against Buffalo, and Hamilton would have lost if it wasn't for his stellar performance. However, the finals was a different season as Cain led his team to a sweep.

b. Is this even a contest? Gabriel Johnson put up 44 points this season, almost five times what Darnell had for New Orleans. The previous season was a similar story, with Gabriel outscoring Darnell 47 to 14. Darnell is more of a defensive defenseman, but his hits and shot block totals are in the same range as Gabriel's.

Well, I'll be honest, this season has been nothing short of a disappointment for Ronlain. It's not ideal to be on a team that didn't get a single point in 50 regular season games. I'd go as far as to even say that it sucks, a lot. Your team is more or less the laughing stock of the entire league and likely will be for another season or two. It's gonna be a rough ride to the top for us here in Tampa Bay. I think that we certainly have the potential to succeed as long as we're able to use our draft picks correctly to build a strong core for the years to come. Fitted, Fiddler, and I are really just here in waiting while the rest of our team develops and trains and improves and hopefully in about 3-4 seasons we can have a core full of active players and have a shot at competing again. It has been publicized a decent amount on this site but Hamilton prospect Andrei Kostitsyn's brother Sergei appears to be missing. Does anybody know where Sergei? What have you done/what can you do to help Andrei track down his brother?

Not to worry Andrei, the real reason that Tampa Bay has been so bad this season is actually because we've sent all of our top players away in search of your brother, Sergei. All of our best people are on the case of the missing brother, and we do not intend to stop searching until he's been found safe and sound. Tampa is more than happy to remain weak for as long as it takes in order to make sure that your brother is fine. Regardless, I'm sure that he will show up at some point. He can't miss his brother becoming a superstar in the SHL. (107 words)

Honestly, this one is a no-brainer, but I think that Joe K over in New Orleans is a lock for the HOF. Not only has he been playing for what, like 25 seasons now? But he now also has a Cup under his belt, long with multiple successes in the IIHF. I honestly just cant see a world in which he doesn't get the nod after his career is over. The guy is a complete legend in the league and honestly it's hard to believe that sooner or later his career will finally come to a close and we wont have the old-timer skating around and potting goals anymore.
(tough choice I know lol.) How would you spend your time there?

a. I've gotta give the advantage to Cain in this series. He's an absolute rock solid goaltender in this league, and while Kryyst is no slouch, I just think that Cain has the edge in that he's been in so many deep runs and high-pressure situations that there just isn't any way that he doesn't come up big for NOLA. (59 words)

b. Well, I gotta give this one to Gabe. As much as I want to drop the guy every time I'm on the ice with him, he's a damn good defenseman and certainly has the ability to elevate the people on the ice with him. Watch your back out there Gabe, and drop the gloves with me sometime. (57 words)

c. Well, considering that NOLA ended up sweeping Hamilton, I'd say that the regular season victories were certainly predictive of the overall outcome of this series. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised to see a powerhouse like Hamilton get swept in the finals, but given that they got beaten by NOLA both times in the regular season, you can rationalize it a bit. (61 words)

d. Honestly, my choice would probably be Hamilton. My boyfriend lives up in Canada, not particularly close to Hamilton but further up in Timmins, but I would love to be able to maybe plan a fun week with him sometime. Just missing him a lot right now, really. We went to a few games in Kingston once and that was really fun, so I imagine going to a few SHL finals games would be great. (74 words)

Honestly, my MVP vote is gonna have to go to Nicholas Williams. He was only one point behind line mate Lil Manius for the leader in playoff points, and played some incredible positional defense all throughout the series, in addition to having some absolutely stellar possession metrics all throughout the playoffs. Being able to play a 200 foot game is imperative in the SHL, and Nicholas Williams certainly was able to activate that part of his game in the postseason in order to really take over the ice and push the rest of his team to be the best they really could be and ultimately capture a championship. this season was really weird mainly for in real life reasons I have been mainly in active trying to get my players tpe below 1300 to allow my contract negotiation for next season to be at the 4 million threshold. As a result I was unable to stay as active as I usually am on the shl and my time off has been quite nice during a pretty stressful transition to summer employment.the performance of Buffalo losing to Hamilton yet again is disappointing and was almost a kick in The shins as our roster has been quite a dominant force for recent years and even though our tpe surpasses Hamilton they still find a way to win. Next season with the improvement of our goaltending and call UPS on the third line Buffalo should bounce back and still be successful that being said many teams in our conference have done a real good job of bolstering their lineups to being cup contenders which will make it very hard to reach the finals.other teams are saying the same thing so it's not that concerning and it will likely just come down to luck depending on who will be the shl Champions but the work that has been put into the roster by our current group of players has been so remarkable and buffalo looks like it will be in contention for many years to come even if Victor Marius isn't a part of that.

The quick answer is no. unfortunately losing to Hamilton yet again leave such a sour taste in my mouth that it would be almost impossible to get me to pay attention to the finals. That being said hearing that Hamilton was down three nothing in the series it's sparked an interest because seeing them lose would be one of the happier moments in the past week and as a result I did indeed tune in to the 4th Sim to watch them lose which was a nail-biter to say the least. It was nice to see Hamilton lose especially because I don't believe that their roster merits their recent success and their ways of finding Outback route schemes to have an edge over other teams just seems a little ugly. Hamilton winning is a result of them finding secrets within the system to win and not really playing the way the game was arguably meant to be played or at least played the way the gentlemen's agreement had it being played for 50 seasons. Even though they didn't do anything illegal or cheap their constant advantage even irrespective of their tpe totals just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and gives me real really no motivation to continue playing in this league seeing as there is no correlation with effort and success.

it's pretty safe to say a joe a will find a way to make the Hall of Fame with his player Joe kuswbjjcdyheski. Jose player has been quite a force throughout his career from Calgary Edmonton and New Orleans always finding a good use of his height tpe totals and Sims success. The fact that he is a multiple Cup winner and has found a way to lengthen his career as a player shows his tenacity and hard work even if there has been adversity along the way.want to think Hall of Fame players I think of him I think of his success on the site I think of his success as a player and a think of his owners success as a member of this league and it makes sense for him to be a quick first ballot unanimous decision Hall of Fame player even if he is a smelly smelson who isn't a big fan of the Buffalo franchise even though he is from Buffalo. Joe doing one last season in a buffalo uniform would be hilarious to say the least knowing the history between him in the franchise but regardless of where he ends up he will find a warm place in the Hall of Fame.

In all my years of buffalo

I have seen many wins

but what gives my heart trouble-so,

is the success of hamilton.

No smile is bigger than on my face

than now as I head to sleep

to see them suffer, whilst in our place

embracing a finals sweep.

The Steelhawks sticks chose an early slumber

to mark the end of their ride

All it took was NOLA's roaring lumber

For Kryyst to be crucified

Hamilton's success this year, was sadly all for not.

Unlike Alexander, Hamilton threw away their shot.

.

the player that deserves the MVP this series has to be the eventual goal scorer in game for Blues. Even though allister Caine still in his head the real scoring outpouring from the players in front of him led to the success of New Orleans. However I would say that a close second would be the whining and complaining from Hamilton's management, they were upset about New Orleans using a similar schemes and tactics to counter their success which in no way look suspicious or is DM cheating but Hamilton found a way to complain about something forgetting that one finger pointed out there's three fingers pointing back at them. I award them second place for MVP because it takes a lot of bravery to call out another team for cheating or gaming the system considering that the past victories from Hamilton all have a vague asterisks near them because let's face it, we have never being the best team on paper but they found a way to win not because of hard work from their team but gaming the system and finding sneaky ways to gain advantages.

Q13:

a. I think Cain has the advantage in net due to the fact that Kryyst is old and he is starting to regress. When you're Kryyst and have already won so many challenge cups I think you eventually start to get lazy and as a result, let in sloppy goals. Cain however is still looking for his first cup and as a result will be sharp and focused and he will win

b. I believe that neither Johnson is better and in fact, they're both mouth breathers. Gabriel is a complete clown and a good for nothing defenceman. All he does is try to cherry pick and get breakaway opportunities to pad his stats. For instance, check the tape from last season's challenge cup finals when Gabriel Johnson had multiple breakaways throughout the series. Darnell on the other hand, has a weird name and therefore I don't think he has an edge over Gabriel.

c. Yes it has in hindsight as the New Orleans Specters absolutely crushed the Hamilton Steelhawks in the Challenge Cup Finals. Hamilton struggled to get anything going and eventually lost the series in 5 games showing New Orleans's dominance on ice and their victories in the regular season weren't flukes. Overall in hindsight since the Specters had won, I believe there was something to be said about their head to head matchups and that their overall stats shouldn't matter too much as it can be affected by playing teams such as Tampa Bay multiple times a season.

d. New Orleans easily. Hamilton is a dogshit place just like the team they have. There really isn't much happening in Hamilton as it mostly just has steel factories and that's about it. It's basically just used as a dock and that's all they have. Sure they have a cool school known as McMaster University but I'd much rather visit New Orleans and watch a football game there and enjoy the music scene there.

I found my performance during this season to be rather respectable when considering that I had to go against other living beings instead of rocks, which usually prevent me from being as good as I can. In all seriousness, I do feel like I did improve on ice but it overall wasn't enough to help the team out. That said, I did at least try, which is always nice to think of at the end of the way, really. I do hope to improve more with the Jets now but I feel like everything from here out is a tad uncertain.

I don't think there's much I can do better bar just following what the GM tells me to do which is probably what I'm going to do, seeing as I'm not that good with figuring these sorts of skills myself. That's what I think.

Eh, that's hardly a biggie, to be honest. I only really went to one final my entire career and that was at the juniors, so I'm not exactly too upset over not reaching the finals. As you may have guessed, I haven't really had the time to really follow what happened in the finals, I was too busy with loads of other stuff and the passing of a relative from the pandemic didn't exactly help matters all that much for a bit. Actually, I did sign up for the Blood Bowl 2 league, played my first game yesterday too.

It's a shame I still haven't really gotten anything in that game, in spite of everyone's efforts to help me out. Not really used to this whole dice thing and the game's lack of a handholding feature or whatever you'd call an easy tutorial (because the game makers' idea of teaching you something is throwing you to play a down and then letting someone pull an Isekai Truck of Good Fortune on you) really makes for a bad time, although I imagine people who are somewhat used to tabletop games would probably have an easier time. Considering my youth was spent playing soccer and sports video games, the fact I was able to lose by only two was pretty alright, I guess.

I did consider searching for him but with things as they are at my place, I haven't really had the time to go find someone's lost brother. Considering the state of affairs these days, you might as well assume that they either passed away, joined some sort of blood cult and is now answering to Lord C'tulhu or decided to move to Cuba to do some soul searching. What I'm saying is that you lot should go search for him once things calm down instead of doing it right now with the pandemic still at large.

Not like there's anything particularly bad with getting it wrong, but I don't really know. I am going to vote on Mitchell van der Heijden, just because he is a solid friend and a very cool guy. That and he apparently didn't do too bad on the playoffs, he scored seven goals and five assists while shooting a grand total of 40 hot pucks. Well, not necessarily hot pucks, just a figure of speech.
