In the S10 NWJHL Draft the Vancouver Whalers Selected the physical winger Shawn Swerin with the 16th pick.

Let's see what Swerin had to say about draft night.
Swerin- It was nerve Racking I really felt my stock was a big question mark some days I thought I would go top 10 other days I felt I could fall out of the first few rounds.

Reporter- How do you feel about your place in the draft and the team you landed on?
Swerin- I feel pretty content with the 16th pick I think I could have went at half that number but I have no issues with where I ended up, The whalers have a lot of good talent I feel we can really make a run for the cup this year. Only team in our way is the Impact.

Reporter- There was a lot of talk that you were disappointed not to end up on a team with Miller what do you have to say about that?
Swerin- Yeah I would have loved to be on a team with my good friend but it's a close second being able to be on a competitive team against him. I haven't decided whether or not I'll hit him hard enough to take him out of the league yet though.



Reporter- It is coming through the cracks that you signed a contract with the Whalers is that true?
Swerin- Yes it's true and I'm proud to be here I'm going to give it my all for this team blood sweat and Tea... never mind I don't cry but you get the point.

I knew it was very possible for a RW to get drafted in front of me and I knew that you would go before me, But that in no way stops us from being line mates, I'll play off wing.

I signed for 1,500,000 and am happy with that, It was cut and dry we had no issues on either side.
