Interview Today we got Dickie Adua to talk to us about his Olympic experience this year. Thanks for coming Dickie.

Adua: Thanks for having me. It is always a pleasure to sit down and have a chance to give the fans a little bit of insight into what this great game of hockey means to me.

Interview Why don't you start off by telling us what it meant to make this team.

Adua: Well I can tell you that it was a completely different feeling than it was being named to the World Junior Championships last year. Last year I expected to make the team. I thought I had proved enough for the Detroit Falcons to earn a spot and I eventually got the call that I was named to the team. This year I honestly thought that there was no chance that I was going to be named to the team. Usually for the Olympics they like to take some older guys who have more experience. I was sitting at home and was absolutely shocked when I got the call. I do not eve remember the phone call I was so overwhelmed.

Interview That is interesting. Why do you think that Team USA chose you as a rookie going into his first year in the SHL for the team?

Adua: Well I know that the Falcons organization has some ties with USA Hockey. Maybe that had something to do with it maybe it didn't I really don't know. I think they saw a team first kind of guy that would do anything to get a win. And it doesn't hurt when you can chip in offensively sometimes as well.

Interview What was it like showing up the first day and seeing some of the great players in the SHL in the same locker room as you?

Adua: It was quite an experience. Grossy and I came from Rage training camp so it was nice to get to know him a little better as a teammate on the plane ride. It was great though. Team USA is such a great team with guys like Lazaro, Raycroft, Bolt, Due, Mosley and Jesster. It was an eye opening experience and one that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

Interview Were you able to take away anything form being around these guys so much for a short stretch of time?

Adua: Well I was certainly able to see how hard I need to work and how far I have to go to be one of the greats in the SHL. These guys eat, sleep, breath hockey and there is nothing else on their minds. This is what I am trying to approach. There are guys like that in this league and there are guys who are just happy to be where they are. I want to be a Mosley or Jesster who put the work in everyday and become so of the greatest players in the greatest hockey league in the world.

Interview I know you say you had a great team. You must be extremely dissapointed to come away without a medal.

Adua: Couldn't have said it better myself. It was extremely dissapointing to come away without a medal. I honestly though we had a team that was going to compete for gold. We had the talent, the chemistry and the coaching staff. Something didn't click. We had a tough stretch doing the pool play but we did what we had to to compete in the medal round. We won the quarter final and lost in the semis. I'll be honest it was extremely difficult to get up and rady for the bronze medal game. After knowing that another team will hoist the gold medal is difficult. In the bronze medal game we came out on fire and put ourselves ahead in the game. Maybe we got to comfortable, maybe we just didn't want it as much as Slovakia. They came back and beat us in overtime.Very tough loss.

Interview Alexander Andrezjeck had an extremely good game. What do you have to say about his performance?

Adua: Absolutely stellar. Big players come up in big games. I knew he was capable of doing that when I played against him last year at Prince George. I don't think anyone wanted the bronze medal as much as he did that day and I think it really showed out there on the ice.

Interview You had a pretty good Olympics for a rookie guy. What did you think of your performance?

Adua: I think I played pretty well. I put up some good numbers I thought for a rookie and given my ice time. I thought I played good defensively for this team. I just hope that the team, the coaching staff and the management of USA Hockey knows I went out there and did the best that I could to win. I hope this tournament and what I continue to do out there earns me a spot for the next Olympic team.

Interview Overall do you think it was a solid step in your development as a hockey player?

Adua: I mean when do you play in the Olympics and not have it be a good step in your development. And I think it is even more beneficial to me as a hockey player because I got to compete at a young age. These lessons, tips, and tricks that I picked up during the Olympics will carry me a long way in my hockey career. I mean I played against the best players in the world and against some of the best teams ever assembled. Now that is developing as a hockey player.

Interview That is all the time we have for today. I want to thank you for talking with us and sharing your experience on the Olympics.

Adua: No problem. I love to give the fans a little bit of insight into my life and story because without them I would be nowhere. And I hope next time I will be sharing my experiences from an Olympic Gold Medal run.

USA!

If you were just going to lose in the next round, why couldn't you have lost to Austria and your GM?
