Burlok's big casino win last season handily puts him in the "doesn't need to make money ever again and could retire tomorrow" segment of the population, so as far as I'm concerned it's time to start sticking it to landlords and real estate conglomerates! Every penny made from here on out will go towards buying and maintaining public housing for people that need it. The more public housing we get, the less competition there is for exorbitant rent and family home costs. As such we drive down rent prices and home values! Everyone wins except for sickos that want to profiteer off of people that need a place to live! Apartments won't cost more than half of your paycheque any more, and a house could actually be reasonable to own on a single income.

Oh. We're also going to open a dressage academy, because the world needs more horse dancing. Everyone should be able to dance with a horse if they want to. No more financial barriers to horse dancing!

Quote:Whether you were just drafted, you just made the plunge to the SHL, or you've been here forever, nothing is better than payday! What are you doing with the money you just earned for another season of playing hockey? (150+ words)

Two words: make it last.

It's very clear to Adam that when you have a job that has such a short lifespan, you have to make that money count. What if you get injured tomorrow and have to find another career? What if you get to your retirement season and you have nothing to your name because you spent all your cash on hookers and blow?

OK, so Adam's not really into drugs, and no one seems to ever get injured in the SHL. But it's apparent to anyone that follows the sport that there's basically an age limit to play; at a certain point, you just lose a step. Then another. Then another. Finally, it seems like every time you show up to camp you're 4/5ths of the player you were at the end of last season.

Adam has invested most of his money. I know, I know... that's a boring answer. But there are perks to living a penny-pinching life. You don’t have to worry about following all the latest designer fashions because you’re pretty sure most of your shirts have no holes in them, and the ones that do could be played off as a fashion statement of their own. No one’s going to steal your car, because it’s an absolute piece of shit. You don’t have to worry about pool maintenance, because you don’t even have a pool… you barely even have a bathtub.

But it’ll all be worth it in ten to fifteen years, when your old teammates are looking for handouts and you’re busy sipping pina coladas in balmy Bonavista, Newfoundland.

Right now a lot of the extra money is being invested. I already bought myself a nice house in Toronto and all those typical luxuries that star players (pun intended) buy for themselves many years ago and none of that needs upgrading. I have a huge TV, fully equipped kitchen (with the BEST coffeemaker money can buy, but you already knew that, didn’t you?) and all the other stuff, no need to go into detail. A NTC helps with having some safety concerning my living situation at least, I know I won’t have to pack my bags all of a sudden and get shipped to another city. Being in the second half of my active playing career now, I need to plan for the future of course. You never know when your career will end and you stop earning millions every year, so I got help from some financial experts a while ago and have a decent plan with what to do with all my money. Some of it goes back home to my family every year as well so they can treat themselves to a few nice things as well.

This is pretty weird PT if I am being honest, because all money goes to training and equipment mostly. Only thing my player did besides that - bought a house in Buffalo, because he is in a long-term here if Stampede will no trade him away. He wants to stay with this team!

Full season here is like 8-10 weeks, so it's obvious that 8 000 000 to 10 000 000 SHL dollars goes just to train properly. My goal is to max out my player TPE wise as much as possible, so we need best training option anyway. Plus, best equipment for each season, so we paid 8 500 000 SHL dollars for this aswell.

It's pretty obvious that from SHL contract cash it isn't possible to train that well if there's almost 20 000 000 SHL cash goes for training just in one season. Endorsements helps a lot with that, so my player is getting closer to get maxed out.

Plus, my player just purchased an amazing house in Buffalo which costed around 3 000 000 SHL cash aswell. Of course, there are purchases who are needed - like food, all taxed and other stuff too.

Whenever I receive a payment, my number one focus is to put the majority of it into long-term savings. I am a simple man who realizes that money doesn't grow on trees, and just because payday has arrived and I can afford something now, doesn't necessarily mean I will be able to afford it later. What doesn't go into savings is quickly depleted by keeping up with the SHL's weekly training program where my money is used to enhance my day to day schedule of skills and drills. Hopefully my improvement via this method will land me a larger contract in the future. After my priorities of savings and training costs are met, and of course looking after my needs such as comfortable housing and food, I've always got a bit of money to spend more frivolously. Last year I began betting in the SHL casino which has been a fun way to burn, but maybe earn, some more cash! The SHL personal coaching sessions are the last thing on my list of things to spend my money on, and I've only found myself signing up for them if I'm extremely confident that all my other expenses can be met for a good long time.

Mew Two, despite being a pokemon, loves human money. He is purchasing a nice house in Baltimore (if that even exists) for when he gets called up, and he is currently redoing the kitchen of his Quebec house since he decided to get two dishwashers so he never has to put dishes away. He is also investing in himself by getting a home gym installed, so he doesn't have to go to the QCC practice facility on his off days just to work out.

Beyond material things, Mew Two also makes huge donations to the make a wish foundation. He currently has granted the second most wishes, behind John Cena, and due to his popularity as a living, breathing pokemon, the demand for him to grant wishes is very high. For every wish he grants, he also makes a large donation to the child's family so they can afford medical expenses and don't have to worry about bills during these tough times.

If we could somehow convert our SHL dollars into real life coin, even at a 1% return rate? Lets use that for example. So currently I have about 68 million in the bank right now at the SHL level. 1% of that would be $680,000. Man what could that do for me right now? Well, I would probably break it down as so.

1) Pay off the outstanding car payments remaining on the wifes car (-10,000)
2) Pay off her student debts (-10,000)
3) Pay off the remaining mortgage on the house (280,000)

Leaves us with roughly 380,000 left to play with. What could one do with that? Well I think the first move would be to get myself a new reasonable vehicle to replace my 2010. So take away 40,000.

The remaining 340,000 I figure would break down like so.
1) 60,000 aside for house renos we have been dying to do (windows – Deck – Hardwood floors)
2) The remaining 260,000 would be split down the middle for our retirement funds to start, and probably get them into investments for some low to moderate risk stuff.

Would be so amazing to bring home a pay cheque and use it for what we want instead of having it auto allocated to adult life.

I might save the money for now. Store it in a bank and let it gain interest for a few year or two. Just these small things will pay out on the long term whenever it would come for me to start to build my own place on a land that I, myself, had just purchased. Theres no better feeling than being a house owner, especially if it is something that you have built yourself. Not literally, but that your vision of a house had just been made.

With the rest of my money that I did not spend on my dream home, I would get more involved in the community in where I had just built my place. To keep my streets clean of litter, to keep my parks clean, verdant, and green as hell, is my goal. I am more than happy to put in the hard work that maintaining the community takes, and I am more than willing to spend some money on it. In the end it is just a small price to pay for people's happiness and wellbeing.

jimmy nutcluster is now a rich man. with the few dollars he had kept from the last big chunk of money he got from being drafted put on top of the newly given chunk, jimmy can now afford to pay for his own funeral. that's right, you heard jimmy correctly. jimmy has been planning his own funeral since he was 15 because that's when he lost his trust in everyone on the planet except for himself. he does not let anyone touch his stuff, make his lunch, do his laundry, dress him, nothing. jimmy is a grown man at the tender age of 32 plans on keeping his things to himself, and that includes planning everything himself. jimmy now has his funeral 85% done, all he needs to do is pick out the final wood finish for the casket, what flowers will surround him, and what music will be playing loudly on the speakers for everyone to hear. he has settled on "night fever" by the beegees, ah what a classic. and now with this generous influx of cash, jimmy has picked out a wonderfully overpriced casket, as well as the entire flower arrangement that will be around him. jimmy is now ready to die in peace.

I got paid 3M this year. 3M is a lot if you live in Minnesota, West Kendall or New Orleans. But I live in Manhattan, the heart of New York, home of the rich and pompous. So what did I do with the measly 3 million dollars that GM JayWhy gave me? Did I buy a house? Maybe if I want to live in a parking space or a 1 bedroom rat filled studio. But I am a famous athlete and don't want to be like the rest of these simpletons of New York. So for now I am still sleeping on Oliver Cleary's couch while I save another 6 million. I don't drive because it is New York. I don't have a girlfriend because I am an attractive hockey player so why would I need someone to tie me down? So with the money that I kept for spending money, I bought what responsible adults buy. I bought pokemon cards from the Wizards of the Coast sets because that is SMART investing.
