RIP Lefty
John Donair knew that there would be multiple advantages to his juniors team and big-league team being so close together geographically. First and foremost, he doesn't have to move! While the traffic to the LA Panthers stadium might be a little much for the average commuter, Donair has become accustomed to long car rides from his upbringing in the Midwest and participating in the NA3HL. That, in turn, has saved him a lot of money.
Donair has been putting a substantial portion of his salary each year into businesses that he would like to slowly grow while playing but invest his full time into after the SHL. For instance, he has bought a stake in Foster's Gym, run by Danny "Bananas" Foster, and actively trains there while participating in charity events and demonstrations for Los Angeles youth. While avoiding most materialistic purchases, Donair is very into music, and has a collection of vintage guitars - so that's where a lot of his disposable income goes.
All in all, while he may not have the most exciting and lavish spending habits, it's safe to say we'll see quite a luxurious post-SHL docket from the long-time Outlaws winger.

Noel is a pretty conservative spender, he's not the type to constantly be buying all the fanciest or flashy stuff. When he first went pro his agent set him up with a financial advisor who got him set up with a budget to follow and he has stuck to it pretty well. The first thing he does is pay the bills. His house, car (he drives an Audi S5 sportback), utilities, etc, as well as his training and coaching. After that, a good chunk of his money goes into investments. It's hard to say what could happen in his career, so he wants to make sure he is financially stable in the future. Every once in a while he will also treat himself to a nice vacation, or a fancy dinner out with his girlfriend. But for the most part, he's a pretty lowkey guy who doesn't feel the need to flaunt his money.

I invested all of my contract money in Gamestop and now I am richer than I was already was by being an SHL star! I was happy to use all that sweet, sweet cash to stick it to those evil hedge fund suckers. Sure, it was super risky to throw all my contract money on meme stocks but Ola Wagstrom always has full faith in the internet to come through you see. So now I got even more money in my bank account, and I'm rolling out all the stops; new fancy car, even bigger penthouse, new hella expensive gaming laptops, luxurious vacation planned for me to travel around the globe this offseason. I am living it up, just as a player of my caliber should. Who knows, maybe I'll even drag some teammates along for the trip, I gotta spend my money somehow. I might have to cut back once I go on a home town discount but for now, it's time to spend spend spend and worry about the future tomorrow. Being reasonable with your millions is boring and overrated.

Pavel Jeziak is very excited for his first big payday and is looking to start up building a mansion in Atlanta, he plans on getting himself a scarface style place to live in, a massive place with both an indoor and outdoor pool, a sauna area, a games room with pool tables, arcade machines and a bar so he can serve his teammates and friends there. A video games room as Jeziak is a big fan of games, he plans on getting the highest end systems possible in there, PS5s, Xboxes and at least 6 top of the line PCs so he and his teammates can play at his place during the offseason. Of course this wont be finished for another season or two as he hasn't earned enough yet, but the plans are laid out and construction has begun. Jeziak also enjoys a nice american muscle car so he's gotten himself a few of those to cruise around in during the summers.

I will spend my hard-earned money for another training or two. Just to get better and get a bigger payday in the future. How boring is this answer? Really, for training, come on, you can’t be serious. Ok, it’s a joke, I would spend a big part of the money for sex, drugs, a lot of alcohol and more fun than a person could get. Life is boring without those things. Of course, I also bought the obviously thing. A new completely overpriced, heavily souped-up, self-confident sports car. A fucking big house, where I never will see all the rooms that they have. Why in gods name should anyone need a house with 5 bath rooms and 7 sleeping rooms? Are you going to use every time a different toilet or sleep every night in a different room? It looks like it. And should there be any money left after all this, I am probably need the money for some food.

I can't say that Granström would spend his hard earned money on very expensive things yet. Still early into his career means that the salary is still not that high compared to the elite and it is more important to save some money, just in case. However, there is definitely some extra spending going out towards books as they are always a great thing, both for travel as well as for relaxing at home. A lot of the money is going into his savings to be able to get a nice home when it is time to join New England Wolfpack in the SHL and say goodbye to Detroit in the SMJHL. Especially looking for a place which could have a gym in the basement for some extra gains from those weekly trainings.
Another thing that is not the most fancy but still a good investment is investing in new furniture as well as various home appliances like a better dishwasher or a new stove. Whilst it is easy to get a service for food to avoid making it yourself, Granström feels relaxed when he gets to spend his creativity in the kitchen without the burden of old and outdated appliances.

(Cue ballers theme song), 6 million in da bank! God payday is always nice. It basically covers my yearly training code for ITC so keeping up with regression isn’t too much stress. Could I have spend it on cocaine and hookers, absolutely! But that’s for retirement days ; )
I did have a little fun though, buying out the mayor of my home town in Ukraine, now Boris runs the Celo! I’m going to go full borat and just start kissing every women who lives there. It’s not like Sasha was ever sued for his movies right??
I guess I should also be putting some of that money into an rrsp, Boris is getting old amd he’s not going to be kicking around much longer. I hear his cousin is quite good at hockey at his young age, maybe I’ll find his career one day

I've gotten into a good grove with how to handle my contract money these days. There is the immediate allocation towards expected cost of living things, like my mortgage, my car, food, you know, things every millionaire still has to pay for. Beyond that though I send my folks a little money every year to help them better save for retirement and also as a little thank you for the years of waking up at 5 in the morning and driving me to the rink for practices during the weekend. I also spend a decent amount of money every year to support my career growth. Personal trainers during the off season, sports psychologists from time to time, various configurations of equipment since I've been without an equipment sponsor for a little while now. Once a year I splurge on something fun. My brother's 30th birthday for example, I chartered a private jet to fly us out to Vegas and gave each of my 9 friends 10k to use however they wished for a weekend. My brother started the weekend doubling up by putting it all on black and from that point on none of us remember a thing.
Well, I think we all saw the NHL players that got used to that crazy income and once it stopped went bankrupt, homeless and just overall completely broke? Yeah, not gonna do that over here. Nice and early, some part is just a straight up savings account, some goes to invest, some stays to pay the bills, but obviously, you still keep a decent chunk for yourself even after all of that. I am trying to make it so I am saving maybe double of what I spend, so I can get used to some standard of living and keep it up throughout the following years, and hey, I am not the youngest player out there anymore, so as the retirement is coming, it might be worth being extra careful and making plans for the future. Yes, it's the boring answer, but god damn is it the correct one.

Living in San Francisco real estate itself is roughly in the ballpark of $2,500-5,000 a month, so if we break down the amount of money Yngve Simonsson receives in a two week pay period we can get a percentage of that that goes to rent. Yngve makes $2.5m per year meaning that roughly he makes $208,333 a month. Break that down into a two week time period that is $104,167 per pay period that he is paid by the team. Now we could say, even on the high end, that Yngve only pays roughly 2.5% of his monthly income to rent; however, Simonsson decided it would be an awesome idea to splurge and buy a beautiful loft in the heart of San Francisco right by the arena. Living the downtown life is great, the young Swede thought. Living in a one bedroom studio on the top floor of a downtown apartment built in 1954, Yngve pays $15,000 a month. So most of his paycheque goes to that

Times have been tough for a young player trying to make in the SHL, I've barely had two pennies to rub together for the last few years . Things are starting to workout for me though and I am making more money than I ever have before. So what have I done with all this extra money? It's almost entirely set aside for future training sessions. I'm committed to being the best player I can possibly be and that takes a huge investment. To make sure that I can afford to workout with only the world class trainers it's going to require that I continue to be super frugal for at least one or two more seasons. It will be nice to start living the more luxurious life style of an SHL player, to own a house thats much to big and a collection of cars that aren't really suited for Edmonton's climate. I'd also like to make investments into local business's that could use some assistance. As I am trying to live my dream I'd hate to see someone else's come to an end for reasons outside of their control.

Apparently a big deal
Pablo Salvatici of the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League team known as the Anchorage Armada, and prospect of the Simulation Hockey League franchise known as the Atlanta Inferno is always excited for payday to come around. While he always puts away a good portion of it to save for his future beyond hockey, he always keeps a relatively large amount of money for himself to spend on whatever he pleases. Italian designer clothing and accessories are always some of the first things he'll purchase, and last season he even bought a Ferrari and shipped it to Atlanta. This season however, he decided to splurge on some even more excessive goods. First up he bought a lemur to keep as a pet despite his agent telling him not to and his apartment not allowing pets. Who knows how that will work. Then he took fellow Atlanta prospect Pavel Jeziak to Miami where they allegedly went on a coke fueled bender for a week straight. Complete waste of money but a great time. Allegedly of course.

Ryosuke Sato has established himself as a promising young defenseman in the league and as he is about to start really hitting his stride on an up and coming SHL team, the Toronto North Stars. With that, Sato finds himself with a nice back account. Of course part of his bank account had to be set aside for personal coaching every offseason and spending it on training every week to help improve his on ice skill. However, other than that, the young defenseman is really learning to save his bank for a rainy day. He knows in the long run that he's not gonna always be playing hockey so he started to learn to save an emergency fund and invest the rest into his stock portfolio. This is definitely the most responsible thing to do, but there is the odd occasions where Sato will be buying artwork to hang in his house and SHL hockey trading cards. Oh and I almost forgot to mention, Sato really loves travelling and eating new food so if you were wondering where the most of his money goes towards it's definitely that.
