Here is the second day of sims and the games so far:

Sweden vs Ireland - SWE 4 - IRL 3

Team Ireland nearly netted their first win against Team Sweden this game, as they opened the scoring and continued to trade goals against the Swedes in a penalty-filled first period. Both teams had players ejected from the game - Patrick Shepherd for a roughing incident, and First-Name Last-Name for an illegal check to the head which also resulted in a five minute major. Both teams eventually ended up with over 20 penalty minutes each, and a third period goal from Rikard Hammarberg was the eventual game winner.

Japan vs Canada - JPN 4 - CAN 1

In a major upset, perennial contender Team Canada lost 4-1 to Team Japan which is in a rebuilding phase. Japan poured on the offense, totaling 46 shots on net. Star forwards Monkey D. Luffy and Martijn Westbroek each netted four points, and Olli Saarinen Jr. only allowed one goal against during a power play. Team Canada got chippy late in the third period as the game slipped out of hand, leading a parade to the penalty box which scuppered their chances.

Great Britain vs Latvia - GBR 3(SO) - LTV 2

Kata Vilde stood tall as Team Latvia gave the Great Britons a frightful scare, nearly beating the incumbent team. Vilde sported a 0.958 save percentage, and the game needed a sixth round in the shootout to settle the final result as quite a few goals were scored during the extra frame. Surprisingly, Team Latvia managed to fend off a 5 on 3 powerplay during overtime as Fleetway Supersonic and Zebulon Leavitt took untimely penalties.

Germany vs Norway - GER 1 - NOR 5

Norway showed off their offensive skills as their star forwards put on a clinic against Team Germany. Using their body to separate the puck from the Germans, Norway also went two for two during the power play. Peter Larson saved 33 out of 34 shots that he faced.

Switzerland vs Czechia - SUI 3 - CZE 0

Nicolae Antonescu notched the first shutout of the tournament for all goaltenders as he blanked Team Czechia, turning away 45 shots as they sought a way past him. Czechia threw everything they had at the Swiss, but Nick Connolly and Elijah Jones scored two goals late in the third period as insurance to seal the deal.

Finland vs Germany - FIN 8 - GER 3

The full Finnish offense was on display in this game as it seemed like the Finnish team had the puck the majority of the time even though Team Germany showed their power physically with 29 hits, and in the dot, with 40 faceoff wins. Josef Kubinec had a two-goal game, and Valtterri Kauppinen had three assists for Team Finland.

Russia vs Austria - RUS 5 - AUT 1

Rookie player Puddles o’ Duck was the standout player for Team Russia this game as he created offensive chances for his teammates seemingly out of thin air. The Austrians opened the scoring on a seeing-eye goal from Friedensreich Hundertwasser, but the Russians would go on to dominate the scoring with five unanswered goals, including two from Teylora Petrov.

Japan vs Sweden - JPN 2 - SWE 3

A hard-fought game between the two teams saw Henrik Lekberg Osterman come up clutch late in the third period as he scored the go-ahead goal for Team Sweden off a nice pass from winger Karl Krashwagen. With time winding down Emilia Bergman and Parker Smeb dropped the gloves as tempers boiled over, and Bergman won the bout after landing a nice right hook.

Switzerland vs USA - SUI 3 - USA 4(OT)

Team USA saw the Swiss give them a strong challenge as the game had to be settled in overtime, with Bobby Lane scoring his third goal of the game to complete a hat-trick, and Bobby Sharp getting four points on the night. The Swiss pulled ahead in the second and Elijah Jones made the lead 3-1 in the third period, but an unfortunate penalty in the third let Team USA kick-start their scoring again and equalize with 33 seconds remaining, eventually culminating in the Bobby Lane overtime winner in the extra period.

Czechia vs Latvia - CZE 5 - LTV 3

Aron Hernadivic led the Czechs in scoring, bookending their game by scoring the first goal and the last goal. Clean Andrei Kostitsyn and Ruslan Zaporozhets got into a fight late in the third with Clean Andrei landing a knockout hit that sent Zaporozhets down to the ice and to the dressing room to get checked out.

Canada vs Norway - CAN 3 - NOR 6

Another unfavorable result for Team Canada as they fell to Team Norway 6-3. Eko Van Otter scored only 43 seconds into the game on a Ryan Shepard penalty, and would end the game with a hat-trick and an assist. Team Canada would see a surge in scoring in the third period as Dick Clapper and Theo Morgan scored two goals in a row, but they could not muster enough for a comeback.

Norway vs Ireland - NOR 2 - IRL 1

Team Norway and Team Ireland had a hard-fought game with both teams throwing hits left and right. The second period saw an outbreak of chippy hits and post-whistle scrums, as things got physical, but Adam Scianna’s goal in the third stood as the game-winner as Ireland was unable to convert on a power play that was provided to them.

Japan vs Finland - JPN 4 - FIN 1

With both teams coming off a back-to-back game, it was the land of the rising sun that won the day. The game started off with a pugilistic display as Igor Victory and Vili Tugatugaboatu dropped the gloves, with Victory getting tackled to the ice as the end result. Both teams continued to take penalties throughout the first period, leading a parade to the sin bin. Martijn Westbroek opened the scoring in the second period, and Team Finland could only manage to score one goal against the four amassed by Japan in the end.

Latvia vs United States - LTV 3 - USA 10

Team USA decided to use the Second Amendment to their advantage and unleashed their devastating attack against Team Latvia. Bobby Lane and Barrett Blackwood both had hat-tricks, with Lane adding another extra two points for a five point game. Surprisingly, none of the goals in this game came on the power play for either team.

United States vs Russia - USA 3 - RUS 2

Team USA put an incredible 53 shots on net in this bout between USA and Russia, which saw the teams exchange goals until Julio Tokolosh's powerplay marker in the third period proved the eventual game winner. Eric Hudson was incredible defensively, smothering Russian offensive chances and tilting the puck possession into the favor of his team.

Hope these short recaps help you guys keep up with IIHF action!
