[2x Draft Media] Dragons Select Creller in S62 Draft

The S62 draft finally rolled around Sunday night and it was as active as ever, with significant trades occurring all over the draft board and mocks being torn apart left right and centre. The depth of this draft class was known and it led to confusion and fascinating picks all that will be felt for the next several seasons. A number of teams held multiple first round picks and the GMs phones were very busy, lighting up the war rooms with offers thrown around each minute. Through the chaos, and despite numerous offers the Calgary Dragons held on to pick number 13 and made their selection:
13th Overall – RW – Eddie Creller – @Mook Calgary did not hesitate to ensure the high scoring Eddie Creller would become the third generation of Crellers to star for the Dragons organization. The war room was giddy as they watched him fall to 13 and it was an easy decision at that point to bring in someone who was already familiar with the Dragon lifestyle. Eddie Creller will fit into the group easily and become a big part of that next core Calgary is building. Creller is a foundational player, with user Mook being a legend in the SHL, with extremely high knowledge and a fantastic personality. The Calgary Dragon’s Vice Deputy Sub-Head of Outer Mongolian Scouting DarkCanuck29 was excited by the selection and was very pleased that Calgary held onto the pick, saying “We knew that there would be several exciting names on the board at 13 and we all had faith that Mr. Izzy would make the correct decision. Clearly, he knocked it out of the park!” The Parm Pidgeon was seen fluttering about the rafters of the Big Parm Arena, cooing with excitement to see the third Creller join the team while the tiger that has been seen to wander the halls of the arena could not be reached for comment. Despite the depth of the draft, Eddie Creller would be the only Dragon pick, as Calgary had traded away their 2nd rounder earlier in the year and were the first team to pass in Round 3, deciding that they were very very happy to remain with their goaltending depth as is, leaving some promising young Goaltenders on the board. As with every year, there was definitely some angst in the War Room, as there were a significant number of draftees who would be great fits for the Dragons, had they held more picks. But, with having picked three times in the first round at the S61 draft, it was clear that more picks were not an option. Creller joins a strong prospect group that includes Grogu Mandosson, Duncan Mackenzie, Sam Stone, Zhen Roza and Janis Lux and helps fill in the gap left by departing prospect LW Gerry Atrick, who suddenly retired at the end of his SMJHL season. Also making headlines at the Draft were the Winnipeg Aurora who made seven first round picks and pulled off a trade to move up from 8th to 5th, trying desperately to build up a team capable of eventually competing with the top teams in the league. ![]() ![]() ![]() Height: 6'2"

Those 6 championships that @Mook has aren't for show. It doesn't how high you draft, its the user behind the man that cements legacies and Mook is that man. Guys like Valor, DC, Kez and others are going to turn the Dragons into the team to fear for the next decade of SHL hockey
