S62 SMJHL Prospect Statistics [x2 draft media]
#1

Well it is my turn to get in on this double draft media and things have been crazy busy so I wasn't able to get some bios in place for people as I planned. But rather than letting my spreadsheet sit around and get no money out of it, I'll be presenting some stats on the upcoming SMJHL rookies that won't help anyone, change draft stock, or really do anything at all. Fortunately double draft isn't necessarily about providing useful information so I'll throw in some useless crap for no particular reason because it will help my bank account.

Note: I started the data collection for this last week and tried to keep things updated (where I couldn't just do an importxml in google sheets b/c I'm too stoopid) so don't @ me if I got any information wrong here. As I said before, it really doesn't matter and this is just a cash grab so keep your negative opinions to yourself! I'm all for praise and getting bonus cash so if you are offering either of those then I'll happily accept.

My sheet shows a total of 37 eligible prospects hailing from 16 countries +1 "undetermined" country (thanks @BadWolf) that we'll use for this super unique analysis that will change the way you look at the SHL.

Let's start with a simple breakdown of nationality by player:

Probably unsurprising with our demographic at the SHL but Canada has the most S63 players with a total of 7 and followed closely by the United States with 6 players. Then there is a smattering of other countries and even have someone all the way from "The Shire". I'm not sure which continent that is on, but I'm going to guess he came a long way to join us.

We all know hockey is not a cheap sport to play and that most of the pros come from wealthy families. I was curious about which countries brought in the richest players for this draft class. In total our draftees have a whopping $540,709,499.00 between the 37 eligible players.

Although Sweden only has 8% of the total players in this class, they manage to hold nearly 32% of the money (looking at you @sköldpaddor with your $151M nest egg). On the opposite side, we see Canada has 19% of the total players, but with Sweden holding the big wallet it brings their total contribution to the tip jar down to 10%.

I then figured we might as well break the bank down by position too. With 18 offensive players, 17 defensive, and only 2 goalies I expected to see this split somewhat near the middle. I apologize for this being broken down by specific position (RW, LW, C vs just Offense) but I need to get this media out and don't feel like normalizing those. You'll live.

Clearly Centers stick out here largely due to the aforementioned massive bank by skold, but even so we see that the offense managed to pull in nearly 59% of the total bank here and the defense at 40%. With only 2 goalies (and one appears to be IA already) there isn't much on their end.

As I'm grasping at straws for more data to pull in I thought we'd go with the tried and true weight comparisons to see which nation is the fattest of them all. The winner of the single heaviest player goes to Pinger Dinger (@Pingu).

Here we see that Australia comes in on top here with an average weight of 226 pounds. Please ignore the fact that there is a single player from Australia. This isn't a scientific paper so I'm not taking that into account. Unsurprisingly the lone player from The Shire has the lowest weight of the bunch at 151 pounds. But is that a lot for a hobbit? I have no clue, but sounds like this would be a chubby dude. Let's turn to the Body Mass Index to find out!

[Image: mGKZdbw.png]

Well sure enough, The Shire comes in at a 28.5 on the Body Mass Index scale and that's near the top of the pack. But none other than Mikhail Borisnoff (@Neadex) takes the crown for the fattest of them all with a 29.5 Body Mass Index.

For those that don't follow this as closely as I do, the Body Mass Index looks like this:

Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
Overweight = 25–29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

So if Borisnoff puts on a few more pounds, he'll push the scales into the obese category! All GMs should keep this in mind when looking at their draft options, no one wants The Michelin Man out on the ice.

Also note that only Ireland managed to pull in an average Body Mass Index in what the National Institutes of Health says is a "Normal" weight. Way to go C.J. Broussard @CJTheM16 - even if it looks like you are IA already.

As per normal I'm going to take this another step further and split this by position instead of nationality.

Our defensive players are tipping the Body Mass Index the most out of this group. I expect to see a physical game from this group. The goalies are coming in as the healthiest of the bunch and the only position that falls within that normal Body Mass Index range.

Anddddddd I'm done working for the day so this will have to do. Be nice graders! Please note that I clicked the "3D" button on all the charts for that extra pizazz so I hope to see that in the bank payout!
