The newest additions tot he Maine Timber.

Heading into the draft the Maine timber had a few things that they needed to address - some defence, a top-six winger and a backup goalie. Southpaw and Kalesalad made a list and checked it twice, and by god Santa came to town with a bag full of fresh new saplings to be planted in Maine.

[S66] Left Defense - Emil Egli
6ft4, 196lbs
Lumnezia, CH
User: @TheGreatToeJam

Emil “The Lush from Lumnezia” Egli was Maine’s first choice in the season sixty-five SMJHL draft. The left-hand defender was taken at sixth overall and was just the second defenceman taken in the draft. Egli’s greatest strength is that he doesn’t necessarily have one, he is an all round great player who works incredibly hard to get them teeps. For those unfamiliar with the Lumnezia Valley, it is quite secluded and hard to get to - he would spend his days tending to his family’s flock of sheep and skating the pristine rivers of the Swiss Alps.

Emil has all the makings of a top pairing defenceman, his skating is smooth with a long stride and fantastic edgework. His shot can be improved but when it finds its way through traffic it isn’t uncommon that it gets past goaltenders before the even realize it has left his stick. Even his positioning is mature beyond his years, rarely is he caught in a bad pinch or flat footed due to bad gap control. The sky is the limit for young Egli is he continues on this path.

[S66] RW - Nibbles The Squirrel
6ft, 180lbs
The Forrest, Finland
User: @SouthPaw

With Maine’s second pick in the SMJHL draft they traded down to select the heart and soul of their team - GM SouthPaw’s nevest create, Nibbles the Squirrel. SouthPaw knew exactly the kind of player that Maine needed and bah gawd does Nibbles fit the bill. Aside from being a fucking six foot tall squirrel - this furry little bastard can SKATE. He is by far the fastest player in the entire draft with a blazing speed attribute of sixteen!! I guess jumping from tree to tree all nimbly bimbly like in Finland paid off for this freak of nature.

Nibbles’ speed isn’t the only thing he has going for him either, his passing, puckhandling and offensive read all sit at 13 too. And whatever he is doing seems ot be working as this rookie has twenty points on the season at the one-third mark. All he has to do is continue down this path and Nibbles will a force to be reckoned with. So long as he buries pucks in the back of the net and not under a tree outside of the arena.

Please fans, leave your dogs at home.

[S66] G - Sir Devoir
6ft, 200lbs
Japan
User: @Wildfiremicro

With Maine’s last pick they addressed their need of a back-up goalie with the selection of Sir Devoir. Though Devoir was selected with their last pick he is by no means the least important. Most would argue the exact opposite, as Devoir has been the starter for the majority of the biggest rivalries and most important games so far this season. As well as being super active and a pleasure in the locker room he brings a ton to the table, including an amazing backstory of his time in the circus and the pursuit of a hockey career.

Honorable mention to MAtty Mayhem - I would write you a blurb, but I’m well past 500 words and I just don’t want to.
