Many teams have a large mural with a motivational phrase painted in their locker room. Whether it be a team motto, or quote that gets you pumped up, I want to see what important words your team has painted in their locker room. Depict your team passing by these words on the way to the ice before a big game.

The team’s owner is complaining that the rafters in your arena are looking empty. You’ve been tasked with creating a banner for one of your team’s achievements this season. Did you get eliminated in round one? Sounds like a banner to me! Did you lose a record number of road games? Banner! Win the cup? I guess that’s a banner too.

In the spirit of the insanely easy ring task that stayed around forever, we can run this one again!. Try using OpenAI’s DALL E Mini (now known as crAIyon) to generate a Challenge Cup related image. It could be a championship ring, your player lifting the cup, a locker room celebration. Go nuts as long as you’re attempting to make it SHL related! The results will be weird, but it’s fun!

Take your SHL/SMJHL team’s name and enter it into an anagram generator (like this one: https://ingesanagram.com/) and generate a new team name! Choose one of the mixed-up results and tell me why it would be a fun choice for your franchise to rebrand to! Give me some jersey and logo ideas as well!

I will first present a couple of the honorable mentions. The runner-ups were Fine Sad Capricorns, France Acid Prisons, Acid-Craps Infernos and Nordic FPS Canaries. However, the one I selected was Infrasonic Red Caps. A certain president took red caps and made them his thing, but we are reclaiming it now. Plus Red Caps actually sounds like a sports team already, although traditionally maybe not like a hockey team. Red Sox, Red Wings, Blue Jays, Blue Jackets, why not Red Caps? The more unique element in the name is “Infrasonic”. Infrasonic means waves that have frequencies below the human audible range, so that gives the branding a supernatural feel. The Infrasonic Red Caps have the ability to communicate with each other at frequencies nobody else is able to hear. How cool is that? And very useful. The logo could have the word Red Caps, somehow decorated with soundwaves. The home jerseys would obviously also be red, just like the helmets (caps!).

a) Well, the Challenge Cup has already happened, but to be honest, I did not even see what happened in the finals. So if I were to make a prediction, I would say that Seattle would be the winners because they have been taking care of higher seeded teams all throughout the playoffs. I am probably wrong based on what happened though.

b) To be honest, I feel that a lot of goaltending is luck based. This may be a controversial opinion, but it is very difficult to determine how to keep a goalie hot, or even how to solve a goalie who is currently hot. The puck is very small but the net isn't that big either so you just have to hope for some luck.

c) Depth is very important, and this case, I think that it is Seattle that has to worry about this and not Atlanta. Since Atlanta has those three lines of depth, they do not need to rely on specific players always having their best performance, which can definitely be impossible except in cases of extreme luck, in my opinion.

d) I would say that having the stronger powerplay despite relying on it more would generally be a good thing. Even though there are sometimes less penalties called in the playoffs, often times, special teams is what truly makes the difference between a tight win or a tight loss, especially when emotions are high.

22. Written / Graphic, 3 TPE, Animal Rescue (150 words min.)

It would be very great if the Chicago Syndicate could actually help to open up an animal rescue! To be honest, I would say that all animals are deserving of something like this, but if I were to be the one who had to choose which animal the rescue would be dedicated to, I would have to choose cats. I know that this is somewhat something of a basic choice, but they definitely would have to be considered to be my favourite animal out of all other animals that I could have picked. I currently have two cats living with me right now, and if they were not able to find homes, it would be rellay heart breaking for me because they are truly very amazing and smart animals! As well, many of my teammates would say that I am definitely a big fan of Garfield, so that definitely helps towards why I would choose to rescue cats.

Could any SMJHL team in history (if they were NOT capped at their usual 350/425 builds) have beaten any SHL team in history a 7 game series? Why or why not? What historical teams do you think are good candidates for this trial? Who do you think is the best team in SMJHL history and the worst team in SHL history? Would the J team have a chance? Make your case!

I don't know the SMJHL history at all except for the first 3 seasons of my career that I spent there, so I'm just gonna be biased and say that my team, S48 Vancouver Whalers, is the best team in SMJHL history. (It was a great team but tbf I don't know if it's the best ever but wtv). And the S48 Vancouver Whalers could, no I mean, would beat the worst team in the SHL history, the 0-50 Tampa Bay Barracuda (which was trella's fault btw). I mean I don't have the exact numbers, but I remember that MCP was signing sub-200 tpe IFAs to fill out the roster, so tpe-wise it must've been close to an smjhl quality roster anyway, and the S48 Vancouver had like 13 capped players. I feel like it would've been a close series even if whalers were still at their 350 builds. Although worth noting that these teams are from different sim engine eras.

Create the best line you can using real life or SHL hockey players from your player’s home country. Give me 3F, 2D and a G– and a short description of why you chose who you did!

F - Robert Phelps. Teddy was one of the most consistent players of his era, and a role model for the younger players.
F - Dick Clapper. Made the team in his shl rookie season, and somehow he's still on the team despite being like 45 years old by now.
F - Matt Kholin. Kholin was team captain and LR leader almost his entire career for Canada.
D - Adam Barron. Wears the C for Canada now, already won 4 gold medals and he's not stopping
D - Gabriel Johnson. Gabe sucks but it's almost like the hatred for Gabe united the LR each season.
G - Walter Hobbs. Canada hasn't had a max earning goalie in a while, and I think Hobbs was the last one

Congratulations, procrastinator!  Through your terrible time management skills, you’ve unlocked a special task! [TEAM] has won it all! Were the playoffs as you expected this year, or were there some surprises? Did anything stand out to you about this season’s final series? Did the engine switch make a difference for you?

The biggest thing that everyone probably noticed after the engine switch is that scoring in the league is up, there are noticeably more goals scored per game than in fhm 6. Which I guess is something no one's going to complain about, except maybe goalies. Parity in the league also generally seems to be better, but Idk if it's due to fhm 8 or all of the rule changes in the last 10 seasons or so. But anyway, Seattle beat three higher seeded team on their way to the finals, then took the presidents trophy winner to 6 games, and I don't know if something like that happened before.

1.) Shylo2022

2.)
a.) I believe Atlanta's experience against Chicago will result in a Cup much like it was for the Panthers. I believe that Atlanta's pure dominance will get the job done like no other. I expect Seattle to be somewhat of a team to push it to 7 games. Liam Slate and Podcalzone will definitely do that. I fully expect Burlok to go into vintage form and completely beat Seattle into a pulp in game 7.

b.) I believe Burlok holds the key to beating Willie Miller. Willie Miller has holes in his game and Burlok has made a living finding those holes, and overall Atlanta's team has experience against shutdown goalies such as Mats Smith. I really think Atlanta can get in the dirty areas to get some goals. For Seattle you just need to get bodies in front, block shots, always put pressure on the offense and keep the puck to the boards.

c.) Seattle need to keep the puck to the side boards. It's not an easy task, but in order to stop all 3 lines you need to get the right matchups and keep the puck out of the middle of the ice. Atlanta needs to just keep rolling get the offensive pressure down when you are in Seattle's zone. Again not a easy task to get past Willie, but every goalie has gaps in their game.

d.) I believe it depends Seattle it's very good because if they can capitalize on the PP you are sitting solid, but Atlanta is the better 5v5 so if Atlanta limits their penalties it's not a good sign for Seattle as Atlanta will be rolling out 3 solid forward lines of non-stop offensive pressure that could rattle Willie's cage.

3.) Campaign slogan will be "the Journey" showing a recap of both teams entire journey from season beginning to season end and playoff beginning all the way up until now. It will include some of the best moments from both teams complete journey up to now. I would include fans in the journey video capturing the fans journey as well. Also showing the stadiums and such. Also bringing in an actor climbing up a mountain of huge stature to bind in the journey to both teams great achievements. A flag all the way on top of a tower on that mountain only to find another person has climbed for that flag as well. they start fighting for that flag and with more cut scenes of highlights between the 2 teams ending with the SHL Challenge Cup Finals Logo.

4.) Newfoundland during their huge run I believe could've beat Minnesota from now. I think it would've been interesting to see with all the big names on that roster for 4 seasons. I would have been surprised if Newfoundland didn't win. I feel Newfoundland has a lot more fire power than Minnesota ever has. this to me would suggest that they have a better team all around and the defense was so good at complete ransacking any offense I don't think Minnesota would've found a way to get out of their own zone even. I would expect 60-70 shots on goal in total for Newfoundland by the end of the game as well. I would have thought it on it long and hard, but without a doubt Newfoundland in their hay day would be the team who could beat half the SHL teams in the league. I'd believe i Newfoundland during their huge run I believe could've beat Minnesota from now. Newfoundland would win in a dramatic fashion with players such as Rand'al thor, Mikko Rashford etc.

7.) SMJHL Milestones

hi

Code:
2. Written, up to 4 TPE - Grab Bag: Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words.

a. I'm not sure many people would have seen this coming. Two teams that joined the league at the same time, both making the finals and competing against each other for their franchise-first cup. So... who do think wins it all? The first time to the Challenge Cup Seattle Argonauts, that have been dismantling higher seeded teams through their entire playoff run? Or the President's Trophy winning Atlanta Inferno that are back with a vengeance after a S64 Challenge Cup defeat?

The Atlanta Inferno were already declared as the cup winners but I would have to say they were the favorites all along. They dominated the regular season as well as the playoffs. Seattle did a great job during the playoffs as well as so I do not think it was a guaranteed win for Atlanta but overall I think they had the better team.

b. You can't talk about Seattle's run without talking about the dominant performance of starting goaltender Willie Miller, who has posted a .935 SV% heading into the finals. If your Atlanta, how do you solve this brick wall? If your Seattle, what do you do to make sure your guy stays hot?\

If I am Atlanta and I am trying to stop a dominant goalie I would try to screen him. I would put bodies in between the shooter and the goalie so that the goalie does not have a clear sight on the puck and also that would increase the chance of a tip in goal which is tough to stop. If I am Seattle I would do everything that I can to prevent the tip ins.

c. Atlanta's big storyline is their incredible depth. They have eleven players that have logged 10 or more points so far in the playoffs. If you're Seattle, how do you try to contain three lines of unending offensive pressure? If you're Atlanta, how do you ensure everyone is able to continue to contribute against such a stellar defense?

If I am Seattle and I am trying to stop a team with depth I would start getting dirty. Try and trip them, break their noses. You know anything to get inside of the Atlanta’s players heads. Maybe do some trash talk. If I am Atlanta I would just continue to do what I have always done and score goals because it seems to be working out well for them.

d. Seattle's powerplay has been on fire contributing 14 goals up to this point, which comes out to almost 30% of their goals scored (50G total) in these playoffs. Atlanta on the other hand have managed just 5 power play goals, which is only 5% of their scoring (59G total). In your opinion-- is this a good thing for Seattle, or a good thing for Atlanta? Maybe a good thing for both? Do you think a dynamic team like Seattle that can capitalize on so many of their PP chances will lead to Atlanta playing scared-- worried about what might happen if they enter the box? Do you think a relentless Atlanta team that is so flush with even strength scoring is going to be too much for Seattle to take?

It’s never too early to start thinking about how you’re going to gain a competitive edge next season! How is your team going to go the extra mile to get wins next season? Is it a secret training regimen? Sneaky equipment modifications? Booby trapping the visiting teams’ locker room? Anything goes.

Jaska Seppala of the Buffalo Stampede and his Buffalo Stampede teammates are always looking at ways to get the upper hand on the teams they go up against. Jaska Seppala has pitched ideas to the Buffalo Stampede and one of those is to put brass knuckles on their hands. This way they really destroy the other team when they fight. I do not really see a downside to this tactic. Another idea that Jaska Seppala has pitched was to make the visiting teams locker room extra slippery so that the chances of the opposing team to slip and fall and potentially die increases. But also not even just die they could become a cripple. I think this would clearly psych out any team that has to play against the Buffalo Stampede. This would clearly give us a competitive advantage because there would be less players on the other team. So far the Buffalo Stampede management has not gotten back to Jaska Seppala.

"It's like hockey, but fake!" While it's not the sexiest slogan ever conceived, it is an accurate one, so if you complain about it, I don't care. The league is completely nonsensical anyway, so why not have a slogan that reflects it properly? I don't want this to come off as bitter, of course, because that would alienate our fanbase, but I do think my original concept, "It's like hockey, but it's fake and we tend to rush through everything without communicating it well whatsoever!" may be a bit much. So instead, we run the edited down version of things and hopefully people are intrigued enough to give it a shot. I guess? At the very least, such an edgy slogan will have people talking about it for years to come, which was, in fact, part of the requirement of this prompt, so win-win-win, maybe. Besides, I have no other idea how to actually put together a reasonably honest advertising campaign.
