Scouting Report: Nathaniel Barca, 16-year-old Right-shot Defenseman

Height: 6’4’
Weight: 220 lbs

Without a doubt, the most electric two-way defenseman, Barca has an unreal ability to get the crowd on its feet. He has the shot, the without-a-doubt dexterity and power, the physical and defensive aptitude on both sides of the ice, the passing ability, paired with his skill in creating space for his teammates and himself. He can make the hit to save or break up a play, he can steal the puck or block a shot, and if that isn’t enough he has the positioning skill to make any power play grind to a sputtering stop all on his own. He’s an offensive dynamo, a defensive savant, and a physical specimen of size and imposing speed.

He has trouble with screening, yes, and he appears to lack the killer instinct, yes, but this kid has it on skates, he’s a maestro. I don’t use “can’t miss player” lightly, in fact I barely can stand the use of it at all, but Barca is without hyperbole a can’t miss player in this class. He has the fundamentals, all of them, he’s a dream addition to any roster on any team.
