Similarly, the event that inspired those streams were Portland game night, a podcast where Portland players and invited guests would game (usually rocket league) and chat about the league.

The 5 SHL New Year's Streams I helped run filled with community gaming for hours, most notably Jackbox. By far my favorite community moment of all time.
