c. Two very different teams took two very different routes to the Cup Final: which of them impressed you more? Why?

Looking at the 2 times, and which one impressed more is a hard thing to do. Winnipeg managed to sweep San Francisco, win 4-3 in a close match against Chicago, and defeat Edmonton 4-1. In the meantime, Buffalo sweeped both Montreal and last years champions New England, and finally win 4-3 against S69 champions Philadelphia. I would say Buffalo had the more impressive charge knocking the champion from last season, and the season before.

Looks like [TEAM] won the cup! (Sorry, Micool.) What was your favorite part of the series? Who won and why? What could the other team have done differently to have a better chance?

The Buffalo did it, they beat the mighty Winnipeg Aurora who were heavy favorites before this series. Despite a rough start for the Buffalo going 0-2 with a 5-1 and 5-2 loss they seemed to have finally found a working strategy, focus on the defensive side. With a 2-1 win in the 3rd game and a big 8-6 win in the 4th one (only Buffalo win were Winnipeg scored 5+ times), the Buffalo finished off the series with a 5-3, and 3-2 win. It does seem that the key to winning for Buffalo was conceding a low amount of goals from Winnipeg’s amazing offense, as in both Buffalo’s losses Winnipeg scored 5 times, and apart from the 8-6 in all Buffalo’s wins Winnipeg scored fewer times than the 5.

To say Winnipeg has been offensively dominant in their playoff run so far is needlessly charitable to their opponents. Lias Ekholm-Gunnarsson has *twenty nine points* in sixteen playoff games. Mikko Rashford has *twenty seven*. However, Rebecca Montaigne has a 0.888 save percentage for this run. Can Winnipeg's absurd offense finally get them over the hump, or do they need to patch up their defense if they want to outlast the Upstate Upstarts?

It's really hard to tell how games are going to play out, but if other leagues mean anything it's that middling goalies can sometimes be the stars of the show. We've seen it happen in the actual National Hockey League where you have a goalie that has decent stats, but isn't THE guy on the team. That happens a lot more than you'd like to think. Let's show a list of goalies that did it ... Cam Ward in 06 was average, but had a hell of a team in front of him (and played a beat up Buffalo team which I'm still salty about). He sucked later on and was carried by a much better offense. Happened again with Corey Crawford in Chicago. I'm confident that Winnipeg can carry a weak showing from their goalie, and put up enough goals where it won't even matter. When you're putting up almost 2 points a game, you can carry your team to a championship most of the time.

A Buffalo win is super surprising to most. They definitely relied heavily on goalie Casey Fantobens in order to win the series. While a 2.92 goals-against average isn't amazing, it was enough to keep them afloat. The team also had five players who scored a point per game for the entire playoffs. Unfortunately, the play of Rebecca Montagne wouldn't be enough, despite outscoring Buffalo twenty-three goals to twenty-one over the series. The goals that came didn't matter in a blowout, and tight games were lost by this Winnipeg team. Game three is where everything changed for Buffalo, stealing the game in overtime which lead to their domination for the next three games.

a. Winnipeg has put together an impressive streak of Challenge Cup Finals appearances, but has no hardware to show for their dominance in the west so far. What do the Aurora have to do differently to get over the hump this year?
b. Buffalo, fresh off a rebuild, crushed their way through the first two rounds of these playoffs after coming in as a wildcard, scoring two consecutive sweeps against two of the best teams in the East. Have the Stampede convinced you? If so, what sold you?
c. Two very different teams took two very different routes to the Cup Final: which of them impressed you more? Why?
d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why?
a) I'd personally recommend scoring more goals than Buffalo. They have had trouble with scoring more goals than the opposition in 4 of 7 games over the few finals, if they do that I think they probably become champions. On a serious note, defense wins championships. If they play hard-nosed solid defense, I think they can win.

b) Buffalo has certainly convinced me they are the favorite in the series. The back-to-back sweep to start out the postseason, against teams with championship aspirations show a real ability to play the underdog, and they will have to do that again here against the Aurora. I believe they can, good coaching and hard-nosed underdogs are tough to beat.

d) I'm picking Winnipeg. Buffalo is on a magical run fresh off a rebuild, their team just shouldn't be there yet. Winnipeg is a juggernaut and has been at the door for so many seasons I think it's time they get their due. Buffalo is used to being the underdog, and I think they remain so. Winnipeg in six.

c. Two very different teams took two very different routes to the Cup Final: which of them impressed you more? Why?
d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why?

a. Honestly, I don't even know what they will need to do going forward.  It seems like they have all the pieces together - a strong goalie, a fearsome offensive core capable of competing with anyone, and a solid defense to complement it.  I don't know much else to do other than to make some small trades and hopefully find the missing piece.
b. Yes, I do think the Stampede has me convinced and it is not because I am on the roster.  Tomen is a smart GM, and the makeup of the team is well-constructed.  I think the different pieces have come together well and even largely in my absence due to life, it is easy to see how the team is well oiled by looking at the stats.
c. I think Buffalo's run to the Final was more impressive given their up-and-coming nature fresh off of a rebuild.  Sure, it is easy to make some draft selections and hedge bets, but it is harder to quickly get to the next level.  So far, Buffalo has done just that, even in a very competitive conference.
d. Prior to the games, I would have definitely chosen Winnipeg.  You would think that they would pull through at some point, it almost reminds you of the real-life Buffalo Bills who were so close yet so far away many years in a row.  At this rate though, I am worried that Winnipeg will never win a title, as eventually their talent will begin to regress and will make it hard to build off all these frustrating defeats.

b. The Buffalo Stampede have had a great start in the playoffs! It is exciting to see another team that was previously a strong contender come back after a solid rebuild. Now that the playoffs are done and they have taken the cup, they definitely have proven their point and convinced me of their teams strength.

c. Continuing from the previous answer, I am thoroughly impressed by the Buffalo Stampedes brute force through the playoff bracket. Going up against the past few seasons top teams, beating Philly by the skin of their teeth and winning the cup for the first time in eleven seasons is no small feat, and I congratulate the team for their efforts.

Continuing an emergent tradition: this year's final features a god-bear of cosmic wind facing an unfamiliar rival on a familiar battleground: this year, the great glowing north faces a furious herd of buffalo! Tell me who wins and why! The arena and the rules of the fight can be whatever you desire. Get creative!

A bear slept soundly in the heart of a vast and majestic mountain range while the Aurora Borealis glimmered above. A herd of buffalos stomping through the valley awakens the bear who is very outnumbered. As the shimmering lights danced across the night sky, their energy seeped into the bear, bestowing an ancient power upon this creature. With fiery eyes and a coat ablaze with stardust, the bear awoke and prepared to defend its territory. The clash commenced under the watchful gaze of the shimmering auroras, with thunderous roars and earth-shaking tremors. The bear's cosmic energy radiates with each mighty swipe of its paws sending beams of light in purple, blue and green hues towards the herd, while the Aurora Borealis pulses brighter with each beam sent. The force of this creature is simply no match for the beasts, and are forced to retreat and reroute their travels across the valley.

The answer is easily Buffalo. Winnipeg are so dominant during the season, Its not a surprised they got there, but Buffalo rebuild was fast, but I didnt think they had the team to make it all the way to the finals, maybe 1 round but not more, so its a big surprise for me.

d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why?

Ill go with the obvious answer, and say that Winnipeg will win it. They cant fail 3 times in a row can they? I think on paper, they have a way more solid and well rounded team, and has I said in my previous argument, Buffalo is a big surprise for me, but I think that their Cinderella story will end there.
