Quote:2a. The goal scoring race this season ended in a tie between Evil Allbran and Lias Ekholm-Gunnarsson, each potting a phenomenal 60 goals. They'll be lining up on opposide sides of the faceoff dot this all star game. Which of our league's best scorers would you rather have and why?

There is something about a Willem Dafoe player render that makes me want to choose them as the goal scorer to line-up with. However, that isn't even an option with LEG as the choice. Obviously I am going to go with my amazing teammate Lias who I've had the privilege with sharing a locker-room with. Sorry Willem :(.

Quote:2b. Borje Samuelsson lead all the league's defensemen in points this season with an incredible statline of 22-59-81 in 66 games played. However, the best defensive defenseman in this all star game is Adelie de Pingu, who put up 16-40-56 in the same number of games played while still recording the best average defensive performance of anyone who made primetime. Which of these defensemen will have a better showing this weekend and why?

Lets be honest here. All-star games are just players screwing around having fun and there is very little true competition involved. So you always have to give the advantage to the offensive players in this situation. An "all-around" defenseman can't really show their true skills in such an event. So you'd have to expect Borje Samuelsson to shine but to no fault of Adelie de Pingu whose game is better suited for a real competitive game.

Quote:2c. The eastern conference will be lining up in front of netminders Casey Fantoben and Brick Wall, while the west will play in front of Justin Time and Jon St. Ark. Which team should be more comfortable with their backstop tandem? Why?

Is this where I complain that my goalie Rebecca Montagne didn't make it? No offense to those selected of course, definitely deserving. Gun to head though, I gotta stick with my conference players and choose the Western conference goalies in Justin Time and Jon St. Ark for no particular reason beyond they are the goalies for my all-star teammates.

Quote:2d. Why should YOUR player have made the all star game, and why is this such an egregious snub? (If your player did make the all star game, argue for one of your teammates who didn't instead!)

Giving me permission to complain?? Brave of you. Spack Jarrow was once again snubbed from the all-star competition. It is understandable though since Jarrow is clearly far too intimidating of a player to be selected. I am not even going to argue for his inclusion because he doesn't need any defending. He is Spack mf'ing Jarrow. Give him some damn respect!

a. Both are tremendous talents for a number of reasons, but the winner for me is pretty clearly Allbran. LEG plays on a far more "loaded" team in terms of other high-end talent, such as Mikko Rashford as an example. Allbran also shares the ice with other great talents, but stands alone among them as the only true "top shelf" talent.

d. With scoring as inflated as it's been over the past few seasons, it's hard to argue for someone to be an all-star with "only" 96 points but Sconnie McHits should absolutely be on the roster for Team Eastern Conference. Not only is he premier player on one of the heaviest teams in the league, he has played over a PPG pace for six consecutive seasons now. IMO McHits is - without question - one of the top forwards in the game today.

Roderic Banes (@Benpachi) was selected as an allstar defender for this year's events and there's nobody more deserving on our blue line. Strictly from a performance perspective, he has been such an elite player for us the past four years defending our own zone while also providing some assistance on the offensive side as well. He led our team in TOI, was among the leaders for +/-, nearly posted a PPG pace, and led all other defenders by 8 points... leading in both goals and assists as well. Not to mention that he was actually a forward that transitioned to defense four seasons ago; not too shabby. We also have Brick Wall representing as one of the goalies for Team Eastern Conference. Brick has been at the top of his game for several seasons now, bringing home a truck load of hardware along the way. Although we haven't been able to win him a cup quite yet, it's definitely not his fault as he stands on his head night after night.

Theo Kondos was the lone inclusion from Texas, despite the best efforts from the rest of our team. I guess we cant all be in Winnipeg. I remember when Theo was born, so it's strange to remember him as a titan of the league. There's two words that come to mind when one thinks of Theo Kondos and those words are Consistency and hitting. Although the hitting really started later in his career, he's been a consistent point per game player his entire career, which spans nearl 900 games. He's just 20 points shy of point per game. That level of consistency speaks to a sharp mind and an iron body. Most players tend to hit less as their career goes on, for fear of ending their career early. But not theo. When the game calls for it, he lays a heavy hit. But not so often as to prepare one for it. When you're worried about him putting the puck in the back of the net, he'll remind you.

Which player NOT on your own team are you most excited to see in action? Do you finally get the chance to cheer on a hated rival's star player as they represent your conference? Have you been tormented by a young player on a rebuilder that hasn't yet made their mark on teams out-of-conference?

Im always excited to see a representative from the great conglomerate of the Great British isles, and so it's a no brainer that I'll be cheering Makrus The Tater Jager. Once german, now come to his senses, Tater has made a name for himself as a new addition to the league in Season 59. It's always good to see a member of your own team doing well. Me and tater go way back. We met at a pub in London, me a fresh faced boy of 4000 years and him an ancient relic of 30. I had not yet had the pleasure of meeting him in open ice, as I was still hanging around the junior league. But, we happened upon eachother a day before the British training camp for IIHF, enjoying the last day of rest before the grind. We shared a pint. Well, each our own pint. But we shared the company anyway. By the time the game started, we were best friends forever.

a: I would like Evil Allbran because his name is shorter and easier to remember and it makes me think of a very mean box of cereal and to me that is very humorous. You can also call him EAB which sounds very funny when said out loud. Much funnier than LEG. Okay, maybe not funnier than LEG.

c: The choice is obvious. A brick wall will necessarily stop more shots because it covers the whole net. And an ark is far too big to fit on the ice, so they ought to be disqualified. When you have tremendous brain power like I do, such questions are trivial to the mind. An easy thought experiment, like rotating a cow. But, i can rotate two of them at once.

2. (+4TPE)  A. I have to go with my boy, Evil Allbran.  Everyone knows that the S60 draft class was superior to all draft classes in the history of the SHL.  Allbran is the pinnacle of the draft class with his point production.  He has single handedly carried the top line of the Forge for a while now, and shows no signs of stopping soon.

B. Pingu is an absolute machine, I love a good defensive defenseman and he is the prototype all should follow.  He is such a strong competitor on both ends of the ice as well, putting up a point in more than half his games played.  I think he will have a very strong all star game.

C. Fantobens has been unreal all season long.  Posting a .930 in the playoffs is singlehandedly carrying the Stampede through.  If they win it all this year, he is to thank for sure.  Nothing against the other goaltenders, but he probably deserves this nomination the most.  Hopefully he goes out there and has fun with it.

D. Ty Murphy has been snubbed so many times its unreal.  He is such a great two way player, always near the top of his team in hits as well as posting over one point per game in all of his seasons played.  Why not nominate him?  He is simply the best choice, look at his two rings.

8. (+3TPE)   Honestly, it is such a shame that hall of fame nominations take all star noms/individual awards into consideration.  The level in which people get snubbed for these awards is ludicrous.  I know, I used to be on the awards board for the SMJHL.  What people put weight into when deciding who should win any kind of defensive award is bananas.  Oh, someone led the league in takeaways by a huge margin, but also had a minus 5?  No fuckin WAY is anyone on that board selecting them for defensive forward of the year.  Who gives a shit about +/-.  But I digress, Ty Murphy should have been selected and its dumb that he wasn’t.  All the other selections were good choices though.  I get why we don’t use NHL games for the simulations, but it would be cool to do so to watch the sims.  Especially with the all star game, you could even let people join to play as their players.  How neat would that be.

a. If I had to choose between Evil Albran and Lias Ekholm-Gunnarson, I would probably have to go with Ekholm-Gunnarson. They were shooting nearly 6% better percentage (although Albran was shooting more) but also was able to put up more assist and had more goals on even strength that I think makes them just slightly more valuable.
b. I am a big fan of defensive defenseman but I have to say Borje Samuelsson. I think the all star weekend is a lot more catered to offensive players and defensive players like Adelie de Pingu are probably not going to play as hard for an all star game as they would say a playoff game so I think Samuelsson will have a much easier time being in the spotlight this weekend.

I think it comes to no one's surprise that our starting center and best player, Konstantin Selich made the all star team coming off of a season in which we saw him put up over 100 points with just under 50 goals. So that being said, I want to talk about my other teammate who made the all star team, Casey Fantobens. Fantobens in S71 regular season put up stats of 2.94 GAA and a save percentage of 0.911 to go along with the 5 shutouts Casey was able to record. I think Buffalo surprised a lot of people this season and Fantobens was a huge part of that 45 win season that Buffalo was able to produce and certainly extended their excellent play into the post season. I think what makes them special though is their ability to step up in big games and have great consistency of play which is gonna be big for eastern conference all star team.

a. I would rather have Evil AllBran on my team. If nothing else, Evil AllBran has been a player that has been consistently been at the top over the past few seasons (at least when I look at the index), so having both the name and the results are why they're an easy pick for me.

b. The all-star game will, first and foremost, always be a show about offense. Samuelsson, being the points leader for defensemen this season, will easily be a much flashier player compared to Pingu. Pingu does have a good shot of having the better weekend, but I have Samuelsson taking the game compared to Pingu.

c. I would take Casey Fantoben and Brick Wall. I cannot use the "I know someone on this team" reasoning, since I know one tender per team. Based on my limited knowledge of the league, I would take the team I know for a fact has a good goalie, which is the team with Brick Wall (no offense to the other team)

d. Given the fact that DuBølk had sent in multiple letters over the past few years about why he should be in the All-Star game compared to the players currently on the team, he would have hoped the league saw his passion compared to those who haven't sent in any letters. This will of course go to court.

The Last Men In are now decided and the rosters are finalized. Who was a good pick? Who got snubbed?

There were multiple great picks, but the best pick for the roster was Tampa Bay's Dwight Knight. Sure, he might be aging, but the fact of the matter is that with that age comes experience, and by god does Dwight Knight have experience. From the cup team only a few seasons ago to the depths of hell the franchise has gone through, there is nothing that can phase Dwight Knight, rain or shine, day or night. A major snub from the all-star game would be rookie defenseman Jølñgüštrâädæviñçh DuBølk, who is one that the fans are calling the biggest snub in history (or so say the multiple new accounts on the SHL's Facebook page). Sure, he might have only had 19 points and had more penalty minutes than that, but isn't the heart of the player considered? Is it only stars that are considered for the all-star game? DuBølk says no, but this corrupt league says yes.

a. I think the fact that the top goal scorers in the SHL would be facing each other in the all star game would be amazing to watch and great for the competition and all the viewers. This could be a fun game to watch, especially when the two best goal scorers are going to be duking out to see who will win the game
b. I think that Borje Samuelsson will be the one who I imagine would have a better performance in the All Star Game as it is a game dedicated to pure offense with defense normally being optional as players take it as an opportunity to relax on the defense and to not get injured before the offseason or for an even longer term.

I was fortunate enough to play on a stacked Edmonton Blizzard Roster with multiple All Stars. We had a total of 4 players named to the initial roster in Evan Winter, the team's star player along with his trusty linemate, Benjamin Surkhi Ze'ev. Justin Time, the breakout goalie on our team also managed to earn an All Star nod this season after performing admirably and carrying the team to a breakout season in which they showed flashes of being able to be the best team in the league. Another player that had received a nod was Offensive Defenseman star Louise St. Martin. Shortly afterwards however, the Blizzard had 2 more players get announced to the All Star Game as the last players in! To complete the trifecta, Luke Laraque also got announced alongside his linemates Benjamin Surkhi-Ze'ev and Evan Winter. Similarly, Luca Hunziker also got a nod for the All Star Game as a last player in to complete his pairing with Louise St. Martin.

I think all the Blizzard players are going to have a fantastic game at the All Star event as they have been performing at a high level all season long and are gonna absolutely tear it up.
