Turd Ferguson Trophy Deep Dive:

The Turd Ferguson trophy is awarded to the player with the most penalty minutes in the season. This is an SHL award and some might argue the most important award out there.

History:

The Turd Ferguson award dates back to season one of the SHL, with the original winner being Joe Frankenberg of Wisconsin(I believe that's what WIS stands for). I'm unsure what the original Turd Ferguson trophy was named, but in season three the trophy was renamed to the Bob Probert trophy someone who never won the award. The Bob Probert trophy was then renamed to the Turd Ferguson trophy after season five after Turd Ferguson of Manhattan won the award in back to back years season four and season five of the SHL. No one won the Turd Ferguson award back to back until Logan Valentine won the award in season twenty and season twenty on. The first person to win the award three times in row happened shortly after when Kaspars Tsizling won the award in season twenty three, season twenty four and season twenty five. The record of three consecutive years winning was finally beat by Danny Foster of Los Angeles who won the award four times in a row seasons thirty five, thirty six, thirty seven and season thirty eight. Danny Foster also won the award in season thirty two and season thirty three, but unfortunately lost the award in season thirty four to Mia Landvik of New England preventing Danny Foster from winning the award seven years in a row. The only other person to win the Turd Ferguson trophy three times was Juni Panda of Manhattan who won in season sixty, sixty one and season sixty two. Juni Panda is also the last player to win the Turd Ferguson trophy back to back years.

Unfortunately there will be no repeat winner this year as Season seventy one winner was Sven Svechnikov. With only five to seven games remaining for most teams it looks like the Turd Ferguson award is two person race between Dork Dipplet and Luke Laraque. Dork Dipplet looks to be the favorite with a game in hand and one extra penalty minute, this doesn't mean Luke Laraque can't still make a strong push to take over the top spot. It would be hard to believe that ether Ivan Lacksamus or Tommy Westbrook could make a push for the award with both only having sixty six penalty minutes and only five games remaining to play each. Will Dork Dipplet and Luke Laraque fight it out for the Turd Ferguson or will one of the other eight dark horses sweep in to steal this prestigious award?
