the most underrated plaeyr on hte phorge this season is a tie between poopy strappon and gnabe dabson. poopy is up there due to his ability to stink up a rink on a nightly basis and make teh rest of the team look so much better than they are so when htey cover his ass. if he could stop anything, he liley wouldnt even be considered for this honor as the most underrated player. gnabe makes the list for the things he does not do. he took a back seat role after winning the jester award, and he also ensured the team is tough on a day to day basis through making sure everyone is fighting at least once per day. these two players have been around for a bit and both have been vital to the phorge playing teh way they do and looking good whilst doing so. they couldnt be replaced by anyone.

The Mane Attraction – Willow Soderberg Snooks

The San Francisco Pride are in a bit of an interesting position as they rebuild the core into something formidable for the future. The squad is off to an inconsistent start but that’s the nature of young squads. What gives you the light at the end of the rebuilding tunnel is seeing how the prospects are performing on the rink each and every night. So far I think the biggest surprise from me has been Willow Soderberg-Snooks. While you normally expect the forwards to lead the team in points, Willow currently stands at fourth on the entire team and has been an anchor on the power play so far, dazzling opposing fans and home fans alike with her sick puck moving abilities and dynamic skating. I think she’s a future award winner and San Francisco has something special here, fingers crossed that a cup comes with that as well. She’s shaping up to be an all time legend with the international scene, now to bring it to San Francisco.

Drafted into the season 74 class, Walter Melon hails from central Ohio, not particularly known for its hockey prowess. After his father pushed him at a young age to pick up a stick and learn to skate, he put his head down to work with his eyes on the prize of one day playing in the big league. His rookie season did not get off to the start that he had anticipated after being drafted by the Carolina Kraken. However, with a late season push into the playoffs, his numbers really started to tick up offensively finishing with a stat line of 10/23/33. Not too bad for a first timer in the SMJHL! Unfortunately, the Kraken were eliminated in consecutive years in the first round of the playoffs.

After reviewing film from Melon's rookie season, I think it was clear to anyone watching that his game goes well beyond the offensive side. Walter's defensive ability rivals that of any league defenseman, truly an underrated commodity in this league. Melon does not shy away from laying a hit on an opposing forward with the luck, poke checking the puck away, or laying on the ice to block shots. He is a true team player on both sides of the ice, with the ultimate goal of elevating his teammate's game and bringing a cup back to Carolina.

Walter really tried to hone his offensive skill this training camp. He has started off slow thus far in the season (par for the course it would seem) with a 1/3/4 stat line in 15 games played. If we look back at the preseason, one would assume that this will not be the case the entire season, as he posted a 6/4/10 with a +8 on the ice. Needless to say, we are very excited to see where this season will take Melon and all of his fans are too!

Option 1:

While Sonja is certainly the more assured -or one could even say cocky- one out of the Solberg twins, her sister Froya was getting most of the attention last year despite Sonja starting off the season slightly better with Froya making a late resurgnce and ending up with more points. That being said, it didn't seem to demotivate Sonja. If anything it was perhaps even motivating her more to show the world she was just as good as her sister. While others might disagree, the norwegian winger is certainly underrated especially in comparison of her sister. Especially as it was later revealed in an interview, she was focusing a lot on improving on her defence. Which prooved to be a very solid decision as she is now on her way in cementing herself as a two-way forward for the Citadelles. Despite being present in her own half quite often, she has managed to put up some really impressive numbers with her points per game ratio being above 1 at the moment of this article being released. So it's safe to say people might have to pay closer attention on Sonja Solberg as she might surprise a few people if she can keep this pace up.

The Murray is absolutely open to the idea of getting better data around his play and also making that available to the fan site. He's an awesome hockey player and the data is obviously going to reflect that. The only potential point of contention is going to be the league office allowing a player to play with equipment that has technically been 'modified'. Assuming the approval comes down from the league, then operation explain the hundreds of ways The Murray is a great hockey player is a full go. Some extra walking around money also doesn't hurt, but with an impending call-up to the SHL that figures to end up as a donation to a local charity. Hopefully seeing the value added from the data will help encourage other players on the Falcons to also jump on board with the program and help the team management put together better training regiments and game plans for future generations.

When watching the Calgary Dragons, not much inspires awe. The team is one of the worst in the SHL, although they openly embrace their rebuilding status. They've drafted aggressively and have a plethora of young players whose futures are yet to be determined, but one youngster stands out amongst the rest - Cheeks Klapanen. The rookie defenseman has instantly turned into a Power Play specialist, notching 5 goals already with 3 on the man advantage. His 5 goals is good to be tied for 2nd on the Dragons, tied with veteran Tom Pedersen for 2nd place, trailing only superstar Sophie Bordeleau. While the assists haven't flowed quite yet, for a rookie to be in the top five of scoring for a young team is quite impressive - and shows promise for the youngsters future. He has tremendous vision as well, with just 2 turnovers on the season - showcasing his ability to drive possession for his team. Even more impressive is that his PDO is 90, indicating that his luck has actually been mostly misfortune - leading the team in GA/60 and trailing last in GF/60. Surely his luck will turn around, and then the advanced stats will show his true skill.

Now, as a terminally online fanatic of hockey for over 25 years, there's not a lot that surprises me: death, taxes, FHN producing great media; there's nothing like it. Recently however, I've seen very little discussion on one certain player: Jølngüštrâädüvich DuBølk. Jølngüštrâädüvich DuBølk is very easily the most UNDERRATED player in the SHL. I can't believe such a player isn't getting the amount of attention I believe he deserves, so here's a summary.

He's amazing offensively, he's amazing defensively; many would say Tampa is the problem, but they are absolute mouthbreathers. Shooting as much as he is and hitting as much as he is, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets multiple Bojos within the next decade. The only thing he's missing are fights, but given the environment he's being brought up in Tampa, I can see him dropping the gloves and getting his GRIT/60 up. To me, that's the only stat that matters.
