I am sick and tired of all these scrubs out there acting like they know what they are talking about when they trash hockey players. Mick who hasn't played hockey since before he could legally drive acts like he knows what he's talking about when it comes to the pro game, especially when complaining about the play in net. A guy who couldn't watch paint dry on a wall is out here talking about how it can't be that hard to get a blocker or leg pad on a ninety-nine mile per hour slapshot that is being rifled in from like ten feet away. They act like a goalie is just out there watching the game go by and is only making a save every now and then, when they feel like it. And God forbid you have an off night when you're just not seeing the puck well or if the defense is having a bad time. Then all hell (and the boo's) break loose even though you're out there putting your body on the line for your team and fans.

Prompt 1:
(Published in the Calgary Moon newspaper, where the original article was published) A response to Mr Peabody, by Crystal McLeod of the Calgary Dragons. Dear Mr Anton Peabody, it has come to my attention that you take exception to my style of play. You say that a Bottom Line wing has no right to run her mouth as much as I do. To which I respond: why shouldn't I run my mouth? It's no secret that I'm no scorer, but that's not my job. My job is to draw penalties and set the tone. Running my mouth helps me do that. By getting under the other team's skin I am serving my purpose to my team. You also say that talk of a "Goon Rennaisance" is unbecoming of an SHL player. There is a misconception that hockey must be all about skill and speed that has grown in recent years. Let us remember that fighting and physicality are baked into this game's DNA. Not to mention, fans love the physicality. The cheers and yelling for a fight are just as loud if not louder than those for goals. I never want fans to be disappointed by coming to a Dragons game. I'm doing my part to produce fantastic hockey in Calgary. All I ask is the press allow me to do so.

Prompt 1:
You know, you're right Chuck. Thomas Sawschuk is just a flashy POS. I mean he needs to act like he's been there before. All these cellys are just too much. I mean the man barely owns his own goals. No, he is just a technically gifted player. A sauce man. No physicality to it. Where's the grit? I mean I want this 20-year-old to really regret their life choices 20 years from now, you know? I mean I'm aching from my own life choices so why should the game be safer? I miss the old days when you could just take slappers from the blue and never have to worry about the puck getting off the ground. Honestly, I blame the curve stick. I mean back in your day, you didn't even have to know how to do any sort of dangle. Just raw unfiltered power, speed and the offside call because you were never one for keeping up with the puck. Get bent. Mike Izzy couldn't hold a candle to today's game (he aint even that old). and Honcho would have a .756 with today's guys. Chuck if you were worth anything you would be on ESPN or coaching in the league. Instead, you are a decrepit old man, glory days long gone, who can't for the life of him understand that the only people listening are also one foot in the grave. Catch up

This drill is for both forwards and the goalie. There are 4 or more players arranged around the ice in shooting areas; top of circles, blue line, low circle. They pass the puck around while the forwards and the goalie both move to correct positioning. The winger taking away far side shot and stick in passing lane, goalie taking the rest. This is a very simple drill, but when you do it enough not only does it help both learn better positioning to take away more net from the shooter, but by doing this together enough you learn to really trust your partner knowing you don't need to take away all options from the shooter yourself as you have confidence in your opposing side to do their job. Doing this correctly limits both the amount you have to shuffle around, and not screening your own goalie. It also lets you each cheat a little bit, making it even harder to be scored against... especially when trying to be productive on all 200 feet of ice.

Registered Posting Freak Quote:Written Task: Describe a drill your player does with your goalie in practice. If you are a goalie, your task has not changed, but you get to decide whether you're drilling with your backup or playing with yourself. Practice sessions have evolved over the years and Spack Jarrow and Rebecca Montagne have had a plethora of opportunities to be on the ice with one another being that they are both on the Winnipeg Aurora and the Swiss IIHF team. There are a few different drills that Jarrow loves doing with Montagne (keep your minds out of the gutter) during practice. One was to attempt a lacrosse (Michigan) goal on her before the end of practice. Unfortunately Jarrow doesn't know how to do them so ultimately she never had to attempt a save but Jarrow felt like it kept her honest in those situations when an opponent was behind the net. Lately what Jarrow has been attempting is to score between the legs but coach wasn't too pleased when Jarrow barrelled into Rebecca on an attempt and almost injured the starting goalie right before the playoffs. Since then, a "stop fucking around" rule got put in place to probably everyones relief.

I think the biggest drill for me and the goalie each week is 100 percent all the defensive drills helping clear out the net front for him, blocking shots, going over what to do on rebound situations, etc... We work on everything we can defensively together each week and it pays off more and more each game even if it's slowly. I'm one of the only defenders with a positive plus minus on the team right now as we continue to grow and get better. I have some of the best shot's against metrics on the team as well and goals against metrics. I will do what I can do be the best defender for my team and goalie first and foremost. Now I will say I don't like to practice blocking shots too much with him in practice, try to keep that to game day only with how much it hurts. But I'll work on the rest as much as coach allows us the time to.

P1: Hey, Grandpa Hockey Media! I caught wind of your latest groans about my game. Is your typewriter still keeping up with the times, or did it retire before you did? My skates might be old-school, but they're not as ancient as your hot takes. Seriously, do you draft your tweets with quill and ink? Maybe it's time for you to trade that in for a calculator to comprehend modern stats.
I bet you think "analytics" is just a fancy word for a pre-game meal. While you're stuck in the past, I'm out here breaking ankles and breaking barriers. They say hockey is a young man's game – not a caveman's game. But hey, keep howling at the moon while the rest of us enjoy HD replays. Your opinions are like dial-up internet – slow, outdated, and nobody's using them anymore.
