The last couple of seasons have been real positives for the Texas Renegades. The current GM tandem of CapnCopper and Anthique took the reigns over from the previous GM as the team was finishing their competitive window, and was dealing with players retiring and leaving in free agency. This happened mostly in S63/S64. S65 marked the start of the rebuild, they got what they could for current roster players and went into rebuild mode, trying to accumulate draft picks and keep the locker room active during the down seasons. Going through a rebuild is never an easy situation, but if you can come out of it with a strong core, well you are setting yourself up for some playoff success.

Fast forward to S72, 8 seasons later and the team is starting to round the corner with draft picks being called up and players starting to take bigger roles within the team. Now, the team still had to develop these players into stars but at least they were starting to have some competitive seasons, and could rely on these players developing. This allowed the Renegades some flexibility in trading future draft picks for players that can help them now. Lets look at some of the additions that the renegades made who are currently helping them this season as they try to push deep into the playoffs.

The first addition was Videl Valor coming from the New Orleans Spectors. Valor was added on the back half of his career. But his first season in Texas was S73, which happened to be the second best season of his career. Valor put up 79 points that season,  which was 5 more then he had in his previous season. He had 63 points in the season following, and is currently pacing for another 60+ point season. It is safe to say that the Renegades and Valor have been a good match.

The second addition was Petr Svoboda, who the Renegades picked up from New England. Now Svoboda was coming off many strong seasons with NEW, however he aged out of their window, despite still being early in regression. In his first season with Texas he put up 65 points, and currently has 43 points in 35 games this season, looks like he was another great add for the team.

The third addition was Mads McBride. McBride being the youngest of the three players, and just entering regression has also played a large role for Texas. Putting up 84 points last season, and currently has 54 points in 35 games this season has McBride as a top talent in the league, and a player that the renegades depend on night in, night out.

Texas has also made some smaller moves, however these 3 pieces have played a large role in their growth the past seasons. The renegades will look to these players to continue their strong play the back half of the season as they enter playoffs to hopefully fuel a long playoff run for them. No matter how pieces you draft internal during a rebuild, you always need some outside help, and the renegades have made great use of finding some players to assist their roster.
