[Its draft season everyone, and the recent SHL draft has now passed. Recent draftees will be joining their new teams in the next couple of days, in no doubt it is an exciting time for both the players and the organizations. However, with todays in depth interview we are going to focus on a Seattle Argonauts draft pick. This player was drafted in the second round at the 23rd pick, and would be the first pick of the draft for Seattle. Who’s the player you ask? Isamu Knievel! Knievel has had an up and down first season, but we are going to dive into some questions with Isamu, and see what else we can find out about them.
Thanks for joining us Isamu, we appreciate you taking the time. You’ve been quiet in the media front so far to this point, so thank you for taking the time for your first public interview with us. We know the Seattle fans are looking forward to finding out more about you and your personality.] - [Tell us about draft night, were you with a big group of friends, and family following along with the draft? Were you on laptop live streaming a second hand feed? Did you even get to catch it at all? It must have been an exciting time when you first got that call saying you’ve been drafted to Seattle?] "For the last couple drafts I am either 50/50, I'll either be in the stands at the arena waiting to hear my name called and just taking in the atmosphere of this historical event. If I'm not live in person, I'm usually at home with my husband staying as updated as we can, making sure all phones are charged that the room at least looks clean. We do a lot for the draft, it's always worth it." - [Now, when you eventually make the jump to Seattle from Yukon what are you most looking forward too? The quality of life will be much different just from a living stand point? Have you heard anything about Seattle?] "I was born and raised in Japan but I am knowledgeable of some great cities through sports like this. Back in my first league, Seattle was the juggernaut team. That was the team you saw in the finals and felt disgusted because they're back AGAIN. It was that level of team, on one hand I felt the want to be on that side and see that level of success... but on the other I wanted nothing more than a Cinderella story with a massive ass-whooping to 'em. Now that I'm in the SHL, being in Seattle feels great. The culture is something I want to be in and I feel proud being brought here." - [Yukon is coming off a tough season, how did you find the season from your view?] "If it's not a winning season, it's not a successful season. If it's not a playoffs season, it's not a successful season. If it's not a championship winning season, it's not a successful season... but god damn was it fun." - [The new season is right around the corner, what are your team goals with the Malamutes, and your personal goals for the season? I think it is safe to say you will take a step forward this season, and receive more ice time. You setting up any expectations for the season, or are you going to take it game by game?] "After playing for many seasons, I feel like taking things game by game is the only proper way to go about things. We get into a slump, we gotta get out of it. We get into a hot streak, we gotta keep up the pace. For everyone in Yukon, we all want to win. Having a better record than last season is what we want, being further in the playoffs is what we want. Even if I get less ice time, as long as we are winning. That's what we want." - [To finish off the questions Isamu, we save the best for last. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would that meal be?] "Barbecued Meat, easy question. I can cram maybe 10 beef bowls in a day back home, I am an absolute sucker for it. Now that I'm doing more athletics it's the perfect fuel for me." "Thank you for having me, GO YUKON! GO SEATTLE!" |
