Thank you for the chats, @Whitecap, and congrats on the freshly minted GM gig!

How do I say enough about these two people?

It’s the end of an era in Winnipeg. Two of my best friends on the site who invested countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears into the Aurora are no longer members. Father Time comes for us all, and it became apparent that the Aurora were not going to be able to be competitive for the time that these two people had left in their careers. Selfishly, I wanted them to remain in an Aurora sweater until they hung up their skates, but that was also unfair to them.

Rashford, you were the partner in crime I needed to ride the momentum from that S62 draft into that long window of contention you had. Your meticulousness and analytical mind made you a perfect partner for me to create the engine that the Aurora became. You had a lot of life changes going on, and your IRL plate kept getting more and more full, yet you still were there whenever we needed you, and you helped steer our team toward greatness. I will treasure the over three years we worked together, and I sincerely hope to have that opportunity again. Love you, buddy.  @RashfordU

Jess, drafting you with that 1st overall selection in 2022 was one of the best decisions I have ever made as a General Manager in this league. Your development of a surefire Hall of Fame player aside, you did more than become a face of our franchise; you helped steer it alongside Rashford and me. You took over the coaching duties – something I didn’t want to touch with a 10-foot pole because every time I did, things crashed and burned. You gave credibility to my interest in creating a truly welcoming community. I immensely appreciate your work here with the Aurora, and I hope when you do recreate it, I will be able to bring you back. @sköldpaddor

I want you both to go to LA and kick some ass and win a Cup or two. I’ll be watching and rooting for you both. In honor of both of your contributions, the Aurora are proud to announce that we’ve retired your numbers here in Winnipeg before you’ve hung ‘em up.

I've been sitting here trying to write something witty and funny for like ten minutes now and I don't have anything witty or funny because Ace made me cry.

I didn't know what to expect really, going to Winnipeg. I think everybody who cares to listen to me ramble knows by now that I was so scared to leave Chicago, because I'd spent so long there. But I told myself to stay open to new things, to be a good example to the community of the "be willing to try new locker rooms" I like to preach.

And I don't regret it at all, not a second of it. (I wish my tactics could have lost us a couple less cups, but FHM will FHM). I can't thank Winnipeg (and Ace and Rashford in particular) enough for making Winnipeg home for me for the past two and a half years. I'm so proud of everything we did with that early 60s core, and I am so glad to have been a part of it.

okay i'm going to go cry now.

Rashford was there when I got drafted back in S62. Jess the season after. By the time it was call up time, I was going through the roughest breakup I’ve ever had. If not for these two, Kinsinger might not have even cracked 1000 TPE, let alone been the player he was (and he was only that player thanks to the advice from these two).

If not for them, Winnipeg would not have been what it was. I never played there before, but having been around since S33, I know a little bit. And I feel confident in saying that these are two of the best users to ever be a part of Winnipeg. And I’m very grateful that they were my teammates for basically 3 IRL years. Wouldn’t be happy to lose 4 cups with anyone else.
