I believe that Will Tomlander should be the one to be selected to the All Star Game from the Seattle Argonauts. I recognize that he's only a rookie, and that he didn't really score as many points as some of the stars, but if anything, that kind of helps his case. He wasn't surrounded by crazy talented linemates. He wasn't surrounded by a team with super fancy Challenger Cup winning tactics. He was just a normal guy on a normal team. And even with those circumstances, he still led the Argonauts in points, and had a pretty hefty lead on rookie scoring, if you discount the 2nd place bum. 78 points in 66 games as a rookie is no slouch. For that, I think he should be recognized. He's the next generation star for Seattle, and with the All Star Game mostly being a marketing tool, it would make a lot of sense for Tomlander to be marketed at it. Haters will say that rookies and people scoring under 100 points shouldn't be at the All Star Game, and maybe they're right. Maybe we live in a world that puts the numbers over the individual achievement. I don't want to live in that world.

Team Spotlight series brought us some quality graphics and media, one of
them being FuriousChicken’s series on draft numbers of each SHL team,
highlighting seasons, rounds, positions and teams they made their picks
from. All in all there is a lot of cool data to anyone who likes charts.
Personally I was most interested to see where each team drafted their
prospects. While most teams draft from almost anywhere there are clearly
some teams that feed into certain SHL teams, as shown on the last graph
of the linked article. Do you think the league is in a healthy place
when it comes to pipelines for SHL players or should we aim for even
more even spread among teams? Or maybe you would like to see even more
players carrying on their careers with teammates from SMJHL?

I'll be honest, when I looked at the graph showing minor league teams and their pipeline to the majors, I didn't really see as clear of a link as the question implies. I see a pretty even split, with maybe a few outliers here and there. Coming as a new create, it felt like I was given an equal opportunity from the SHL teams that scouted me. Of course, not every team scouted me, which could be because of a variety of reasons, from teams not having picks where they expected me to fall, or teams already knowing who they wanted to draft. Then for recreates, it kind of makes sense that they would be drafted to teams that they have a connection with. If I were to recreate my player, obviously I would want to be drafted to the Raptors again because I genuinely enjoyed the team. Take me telling the Argonauts about how great a team it was, and suddenly there's a Raptor to Argonaut pipeline. Obviously there's a lot more variables at play, but I feel like that's not really a bad place to be in terms of league health.

Task 1 – 3 TPE

Task 4 – 2 TPE

When it comes to fantasy, do not pick Axel Kirby. Kirby is someone who has a good amount of TPE, plays on a good Los Angeles team and also gets a lot of minutes in all situations, but for whatever reason just doesn’t produce all that well. Perhaps it’s his willingness to be a team first player and help more on the defensive end, but it doesn’t translate that well to fantasy. Even when his production is up, he doesn’t tend to score a lot of goals, and since goals are worth more than assists in fantasy, that puts him even further behind his peers as a great fantasy pick.

Task 8 – 4 TPE

I could discuss a couple of people here, but I will go with Rich Prpich. Rich is a guy who has been an absolute rock for this Los Angeles team and I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of being selected as an All-Star. Not only is he a great role model for younger SHLers joining the league, but as a teammate he’s everything you could want. A great guy, a great motivator and someone who wants to do whatever he can for the sake of the team. There’s not many people who can disagree with that, especially for a guy who has been consistently putting up ridiculous numbers for the Panthers, even when they weren’t so good. He has seen the bottom and the top with the Panthers, and there’s no way he shouldn’t be an SHL All-Star.

At the game itself I would expect Rich to be someone players like to be around, and also I full expect him not to be the MVP of the game. Not because he can’t, but because he’s the type of guy that will pass off the puck to a teammate before worrying about putting up numbers. He’ll be there for a good time, speak to the fans and ensure everyone has a great time together.

13. I think we're in a pretty good place with SMJHL prospects feeding into SHL teams, to be completely honest. I think there's a good balance that should naturally occur, between bringing in new faces and unique users and pipelines, with bringing in players from similar teams. The obvious benefit to bringing in players from the same SMJHL teams is that you have natural scouting occurring where you have people in locker rooms able to vouch for players, and if SMJHL teams have good locker rooms, you've got some of your work done for you in knowing that these players have some familiarity and synergy and can fit in. That said, the obvious benefit to bringing in new players from different SMJHL teams is that you're building new natural scouting pipelines across the league, as well as the need to inject new faces into locker rooms to keep things from growing stale. It's very valuable, and very difficult to, only recruit players from 1-2 teams, so there needs to be some variation, but there are obvious reasons to recruit from your players' teammates to keep synergy where applicable. 187 words, +3 TPE

11. Winning the Scott Stevens back to back is the most impressive for me. There's only been one back-to-back winner since Season 18/19, which was Louise St. Martin. For some reason, defencemen just seem to be much more random than other skaters and goalies seem to rely heavily on the remainder of the team being good enough - not that good goalies aren't real, but the FHM sim engine really loves some RNG-ing a random bum goalie into a vezina in any of my non-SHL sims, so like...it feels way more team based. I think it's impressive winning the Scott Stevens, because you have to be balanced offensively and defensively theoretically - because different users have different perspectives of what the most valuable defenceman is, however anecdotally, it feels like the most valuable player is just the player with the most points or goals if someone had an insane scoring season. But honestly, as someone who has yet to win an award, maybe my opinions will change after a few seasons based on what I have or haven't won by the end of my career. Hopefully I'll remain a max earner and maybe I can even one day win this award back to back and change my mind (or root my heels deeper as a brag about the difficulty of the feat). Only time will tell. 224 words +4 TPE

4. One archetype of players that are valuable to their team but not in fantasy are defensive minded defensemen who do not block a lot of shots. Since they already will gain fewer points than their offensive counterparts due to lower goals and assists, defensive minded players rely heavily on blocked shots to score points in fantasy. But if instead they perform their duties by creating turnovers, their takeaway number are not rewarded in fantasy. (74 words)

Winning an award is not easy. To win two (or more) seasons in row is even more impressive. Which one of the back to back award wins you are most impressed with and why? Can be written about any award, including team and user awards. Below is the link to Portal where you can start looking for back to back winners.

One of the most obvious back to back wins that jumps out at you is Ivan Lacksamus winning back to back Ron Mexico trophies in S72-73. While he also won back to back Sarmad Khan and Sergei Karpotsov trophies as well, this is less impressive to me because those two are essentially the same trophy as generally voters simply award the player with the most points. The committee on the other hand generally utilizes more comprehensive qualifications and perhaps can even be biased against giving the same player the award multiple seasons in a row. At the end of the day, MVP is MVP, even if it is very skewed towards forwards, and winning it twice is no easy feat.

To diverge a little here, there is another player who has won the award twice that I actually find more impressive than Lacksamus' back to back wins. Konstantin Selich won the award in S69, then would go on to win it again five seasons later in S74. In an era where players burn brightest for a short period of time, it is quite rare to see a player seemingly have two peaks in their career. Selich isn't the only one to win the award in non-consecutive seasons, with Aaron Wilson's wins in S55 and S61 an even larger gap than Selich, but Wilson was part of a powerhouse Hamilton team that won the award a ridiculous 8 out of 9 seasons from S53-61, while Selich played for a good, but certainly not dynastically great Buffalo team. 3. Which are your three favorite Charity Auction items? Why those?

I have a couple charity auction items that made me smile to see and immediately stood out. The first one has gotta be "100-word compliments for a fortnight to your user of choice" by Jess. This is just an adorable idea. I love how excessive the compliments sound, 100 words is an insane amount. In addition I love that it is targeted at ANOTHER user rather than oneself, and that it goes on "for a fortnight". It just sounds like a really fun way to both bother your friend and let them get showered in some fun and kind words.

Next up has got to be the "song cover of choice by shiamus". This is always fun, there is nothing goofier than making someone sing a fun song. I look forward to seeing whichever song the winner chooses - hopefully something really silly.

Finally, I like "Rig Jexter's Power Rankings" by Jex. This just is a wonderful idea. The outcome of the auction helps to fuel what sounds to me like a very creative media post that is sure to drum up some controversy. This is both flavorful and creative, 10/10 idea to @Jexter

Overall, I really enjoy a lot of the ideas. I already have some money tied up in the ISFL charity drive, but it's awesome to see these sim communities coming together for a good cause.

5. Plan a heist to steal all of Luke's money.

Luke has a lot of money. When I say a lot of money, I don’t just mean a few thousand dollars. This man and I mean it literally, is almost a billionaire. He has precisely eight hundred and ninety million, seven hundred and eighteen thousand, four hundred and sixty three dollars. Nobody on earth should be allowed to hold this much cash, and for this reason alone, I’m planning a heist to steal his money. First, we find out which bank he uses. To do this I’ve hired a private investigator to tail him everywhere he goes. I’m told for the first few weeks he didn’t even leave his (let’s be honest I’m sure he could afford better) condo. Door dashing and instacarting any and all things he needed. But finally, he left his condo and was seen entering TD Bank. My private investigator watched Luke enter his credentials to enter the private vault and there he went, unassisted and alone into his vault. This is where his millions were. My private investigator provided me with Luke's credentials and of course wanted to be paid fairly well considering the information he provided. I went to TD Bank, with my fake mustache, entered Luke’s credentials and I was allowed into his vault. The rest is history, I’ll never need to work again. I left Luke with a little something, just a simple million dollars. Get him through his next weekly training.

2. Who will be the star of the All-star game? Why you think they will be better than the rest?

Cale Salad will be the star of the All-Star Game, mainly because players named after food tend to be goated. Salad always happens to be pretty good at hockey, leading the SHL with 124 points during the regular season. He was 2nd in goals with 60 and 4th in assists with 64. Expect Salad to impress the fans in the All-Star Game.

4. Who are the best players you shouldn’t pick in fantasy? Why?

New Orleans Specters forward Luca Pane is very good at hockey, but he's probably someone who should be avoided in fantasy drafts. Despite having over 1,800 TPE, Pane put up less than 300 fantasy points last season. His career high in goals is 26 and his career high in points is 76, but that was four seasons ago.

Tell me about your teammate who made or you expect to make the all star game! Who are they, why were they an obvious choice to make the All Star roster, and what do you expect from them this ASG? (If more than one of your teammates made the game, pick one of those players other than yourself. If you are the only player on your team selected for the all star game so far, write about your team's candidate for last man instead.)
I will pitch two different players to represent the Tampa Bay Barracuda for the S77 All Star game, but man is it weird and disappointing to not have the rosters out yet. I get that this new process may make things a little tougher timeline wise, but I wonder if the tradeoff of “fresh new format” for All Star PT with zero rosters or all star sim is a worthwhile trade? Im sure there is some stuff going on in real life or behind the scenes Im just not aware of. Moving on!

First up for the ‘cuda is Tibuk Soonika, who is in desperate need of a cool goalie nickname. Soonika wound up placing 2nd is Goals Saved Above Average behind Five-Hole Sieve, and also 3rd in the league in total wins. He also cracked the top 10 in both GAA and SV%, so clearly an elite goalie. There’s only a few that even make it into the All Star game but Soonika was probably our most elite player all year.

Second case I will make is maybe a bit of a meme but I think it at least stood up somewhat over time. Finishing with the 6th best Shooting Percentage in the league is the mailman himself, Dag-Otto Bjorntjanst. Dag-Otto centered the ‘cuda’s 3rd line most of the year, but really started hot in the beginning of the season. Bjorntjanst put up 12 points in his first 3 games with the club!
