Inge Baardsen isn’t very well known in the grand scheme of the SHL, coming towards the end of his rookie season in the league. He was well known in Saskatchewan, as an alternate captain for the Elk, prior to their relocation, so he would appear on a few ads for team affiliated sponsors, local radio etc. Now he is in Baltimore, he is far less visible, which is no surprise when you’re on a team with the Liebolds, Valieva, Bergmark etc. One place that does try to rep him and have him rep it is his home country of Norway. Oil and gas companies dominate the economy of Norway, but he likes to rep some Norwegian clothing companies, like every hikers favourite base layer, Helly Hansen and he can often be seen wearing their gear during practice or out and about. He also has a sweet tooth and cannot stand American chocolate, like a standard European, so prefers to have boxes of Freia chocolate sent to him, so much so that the company took notice and provide him with free chocolate, which he has been seen eating on the bench during games!

It can often be looked upon as "selling out" when an athlete gets sponsored, shamelessly shilling products any chance they get. Matviy Cajabi is under no such illusions. Never one to shy away from a freebie, Cajabi will lend his name to most anything if he can score some free swag.


Upon noticing his recent gothic fashion choices, Hot Topic was quick to get in touch and get him wearing some of their apparel. And while hockey and Hot Topic don't seem like the most obvious of partners, it can never hurt to try and grow your brand. In the unlikely event you find yourself on their website, you'll be sure to see Cajabi's grinning mug modeling some of their gear. Wonder if there's any truth to the rumors they were collaborating on a skinny jean/Cooperalls hybrid. If you're too young to know what Cooperalls are, look it up. Somehow, they were a thing (and could be again!).
As if that weren't "off the wall" enough, Cajabi's reps have been in talks with Vans to partner together for a limited edition skate for his debut in the SHL. The company has never been one to shy away from a collab, so don't be surprised to see that iconic checkerboard look on the ice next season. Not sure how they'll go with a 'waffle' blade though...

Option 1:

Paul Bondage loves the idea of taking on sponsorships. He grew up watching the goofy, mono-toned reading commercials from hockey stars in the past, staring dead into the camera and just reading a script with zero life. He always wondered why in these commercials the players seemed like they hated their life. Paul Bondage however would be ecstatic to get any sort of branding sponsorship. While he certainly would not turn much away in terms of extra money earned, he would love a Chipotle sponsorship. While traveling on the road, Chipotle is one of Paul Bondage's go-to spots. They're cheap (ish, it's no longer the early 2000s sadly), they're filling, and.... well I mean they're sort of healthy... depending on what you get. Chipotle has truly fueled Paul Bondage's career and he would do just about anything to get the opportunity to repay them back by spreading the good word of the brand.

You guys remember Monster House right? Fuckin love that movie, and that's why the only sponsorship I will be accepting is from Monster House. Not the animators or the production team or anything like that, no, I want to do a photoshoot with Mr Nebbercracker and have a little sticker of his wife that I forgot the name of on my helmet. I'm rocking a picture of the house as the logo on my jersey and the back of my jersey is a patch of that one cop who was "wrestling a bear claw" (he was eating a donut guys dont let him fool you he is a demon of misdirection) Every single interview I do I will be contractually obligated to use at least one quote from the movie, and I'll usually use quotes from that one gamer dude in the arcade that's really good at Thou Art Dead or whatever that game was. I fuckin love Monster House man

Yuri Boyka III was fortunate in the sense that he never had to go look for sponsorships. Sponsors came to him and thus his presence basically adds value to their brand. The reason for this is very simple. Boyka III comes from a strong pedigree in which his dad and grand fathers were both former SHL players. The OG Yuri Boyka started it all and his name echoes everywhere. The family is well known for their great genetics that not only provide the skills for hockey, but they are also professional martial artists whom each have a black belt in different category. Boyka III has a black belt in brazilian Jiu Jutsu and karate. This is why his sponsors get hell of a recognition since this family spreads their brand across various sports. Additionally, Boyka III does not welcome any brand. He only adheres to those that are produced in a healthy and ethically correct manner. He is a man that is against child abuse and animal abuse so the brands he usually represents are a little under the radar. He loves patagonia and prAna and is an avid wearer of their gearss specifically designed for him.

Dunkler is always open to sponsorship deals, so long as they connect with fans rather than alienate them. All sponsorship deals may not pay the same, but they are all just about money at the end of the day. Dunkler prefers to pick and choose sponsors that aren’t going to eat away at the fan experience, people’s sanity, or their wallets. His favorite sponsorships are snacks or drinks, followed by local businesses. He also doesn’t mind hockey gear sponsors.

There are a few brands or products he cannot stand and will never be involved with. Firstly, sports betting. Annoying and prevalent ads would mean any association could turn negative quickly. Next is anything to do with healthcare and insurance. Nothing about a pro athlete promoting something like a prescription drug, hospital system, or insurance company will ever make that decision easier for the person having to make it. The last thing they would want is their favorite Barracuda spouting some lame catchphrase while they are trying to budget out next year’s benefits.

Jeyeff Effo has often been complimented to have supermodel good looks and a likeness to international superstar and cleaning product aficionado, Mr. Clean. With this likeness and stunning good looks, it makes Effo the perfect spokesperson for any company that would want an endorsement and reach of the premier superstarflop of the SHL. For some reason, hair care and styling product companies have been the most prolific in reaching out to Effo for endorsements, despite the fact that there is not a single strand of hair on his entire body (except his eyebrows), completely smooth for aerodynamic purposes. Head & Shoulders has reached out to Effo to tattoo their company logo onto the top of his head, and a local toupee maker has offered free hair pieces for life if Effo would mention their company "Bald is Beautiful" in every media and interview. The real question here is, when Effo washes his face, where does he stop? Does he stop at the eyebrows? or does he just keep going onto his bald head all the way to the back of his neck?

Cal Juice does not actively seek out sponsorships in general, but when he tries out a product that he really enjoys for the first time he does ask his agent to see if there are any sponsorship opportunities for that product. In the past he's done a sponsorship for Welch's grape juice, that's what he drinks every day. He's also been contacted to do a sponsorship with some other companies that he didn't end up going with including the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the US Army, and Exxon. He's not interested in any of those types of companies, Cal Juice has principles that he stands by and gender equity, anti war, and understanding climate change are part of those principles. He's not going to take money companies that actively destroy the planet and people. So if anyone wants to do a sponsorship related to feminism, socialism or green energy that'd be a more interesting opportunity for him!

Leonard Wood is open to any sponsorship opportunities available. He realizes that there is a small window to make as much money from his professional hockey career as possible. While his likeness is relevant and can earn him extra money, he will take that opportunity so he can further provide for his family. Wood is particularly fond working with brands from his home state of Wisconsin. One particular brand he would love to have sponsor him is the fast food franchise Culver's. Culver's is Wisconsin's pride in fast food as being a step above the rest. He would love to follow in fellow Wisconsin footballer JJ Watt's footsteps and also work with Culver's. He would also like to work with New Glarus Brewing Company. Wood figures that maybe he could score some free butter burgers and beer if he represents those companies. Beyond that, he would like to use his likeness for good and put his name on some charity stuff that benefits kids or something.

Wingmate Roc is definitely looking for some sponsorship opportunities. He is quite poor and his team refuses to pay him, as if he is some nameless rookie who does not deserve to get money, fame, and the sweet perks that come with being rich. Sure, Wingmate Roc has been offered jobs, but jobs is not what he is looking for. Wingmate Roc wants money. Free money. Money in the form of sponsorships or bonuses, not money earned by doing tasks and by being a member of the SHL community that contributes to the league. If any team is out there, Wingmate Roc will not be a free agent but you should ship him some amount of your team's budget just for fun, see if it works, maybe it'll be a nice time that looks really cool on your memories of your time in the league. Free Wingmate Roc? No, PAY WINGMATE ROC.

Written Option 2: They say athletes make the gear or that the gear makes the athlete. Either way, players definitely have preferences when it comes to gear for themselves on the ice. SHL teams often make custom orders for many players due to their more unique tastes or requirements. Does your player have anything they request from their equipment team? How hard is it to get some of their requests done? Does their gear give them an advantage they normally wouldn’t have with any old equipment of the same variety? If any equipment would be legal to bring on the ice (but still has to abide by hockey rules), what would they ask for to give them the edge over their competition?

Campbell is very specific on the gear he wears. The main thing is he does not like breaking in new skates, so he ends up holding on to skates for a lot longer than most players. He also hates wet gloves, so he uses three pairs per game and rotates them out very often. He tries to stay in one brand of gear as to not have too many sponsors. However, that being said whoever is willing to pay him the most money is usually the one who he will go with. No long-term contracts for Campbell. He will bounce around as necessary, but the ultimate thing is performance. If the performance with the new gear changes, the money aspect becomes much less important. There needs to be a priority put on performance. Although, he abides quite literally to the saying “look good, feel good, play good” and that is the most important thing to go by.

Historically, Viktor does not register money as something to hold on to for a very long time, so he's definitely not the type to look for sponsorship opportunities even if they're waving frantically in front of his face. He already has way more money than he could ever spend, and any 'extra' dough that he does make goes straight to one charity or another. That said, if it happens to cross into one of his current interests, he's much more likely to cooperate (particularly for the sake of SFP upper management). If the SHL ever needs a fountain pen sponsorship, Viktor's your guy. He'll pose (albeit painfully awkardly) and give the thumbs up for as long as you'd like for advertising purposes, as long as he gets a silly new little pen to play with. A gifted pen is worth infinitely more than any old obscene luxury pen that he could buy himself. Hockey stick sponsorship? Maybe, if they all come in a single uniform colour and design. But probably not, as he'd much rather hide away at home or in the locker room.
