Admittedly, Oliver Cornwall was not always the most appreciative guy of his support staff. When he was an SMJHL rookie, he would run around and just generally be flippant with the training staff. However, now he has learned the importance of those supporting team members due to his time spent around the Wolfpack organization in the training camps since being drafted to the SHL, and he has applied those lessons in his remaining time with the Whalers, and had tried to impose that on his teammates as well. In his mind, the backbone of the team is the strength and conditioning staff with a close second coming to his nutritionist and chef. The combined works of those two groups ensure that Oliver’s body is operating at 100% efficiency and enabling the rest of the pieces to fall into place. Since learning their importance, Oliver is sure to buy them gifts and just generally express his appreciation.

TEAM MONKEY. THE TEAM NEEDS A MONKEY. I think it is absolutely instrumental for the proper development of a hockey team that they have a team monkey swinging around the locker room. It's an added bonus that whenever things start to get heated on the ice I can just Unleash The Monkey on the opposition and let him wreck shop. I've read through the rulebook pretty thoroughly and I haven't even seen monkey be mentioned a single time in there so I'm pretty sure that unleashing the wrath of a monkey upon the enemy is completely legal. I don't really know what monkeys eat though so we probably won't be able to feed him which is a bummer hope he can power through that and keep giving the other guys the business. Our monkey will likely be a temporary buff due to my lack of knowledge of monkey care but he's gonna be a really good team pet as long as he's around I think

Option 2:
The most important people in the organization bar none outside of the coaches is the training staff for Cale Salad. They are the unsung heroes that keep the players in the best shape possible and working at their best! Look no further then the fact the Forge have never had a injury to a player! How else but with incredible training staff would they be able to accomplish such a feat? The equipment guys making sure all the sticks and gear is laid out just how everyone needs it because who in pro sports isn’t a little superstitious. But after that is all about the massage therapy and chiropractor and doctors on staff that keep this team competing at its best. The team spares no expense on the latest and greatest chefs as well to ensure the super foods are available for all the players to meet their dietary needs as well! There are so many people behind the scenes that deserve recognition in keeping this team afloat.

The Panthers found a way to legally own a literal panther, named her Carl, and she's their mascot. Turns out sports mascots and other corporate ownership of animals are allowed, but private individuals are not allowed to own exotic pets in California. Grzegorz's pleas for an elephant mascot went unheard. Carl is a big cat, which means she acts essentially like an overgrown house cat. The recent acquisition of Teemu Salami was nearly derailed by her welcome rush, but hopefully he'll get used to her soon, because the rest of the team won't even consider giving her up or trading her in for an elephant. Prpich and Korbo run her instagram page. Unfortunately she was too big to sit in the cup, but she did drink milk out of it like the good big girl she is. She does manage to calm Grzegorz down with head rubs when he gets depressed about how TRASH HE IS THIS SEASON HOLY SHIT but he'll get it together for playoffs. Go Pantr, go Carl.

The most important person on the team for Robo Sven is the team mechanic. Robo Sven doesn't get sore like the other players on ice thanks to his mechanical augments, but he sure does get stiff. It takes a trained professional to make sure that Robo Sven maintains the "Robo" part of his name efficiently. Sometimes it's not even something that goes wrong mechanically really, it's only been a year since Robo Sven has had the process done so there are times when there are compatibility issues and his body rejects the mechanical limbs. In those times, it's important to have a team doctor that's well versed in mechanical augmentation to help keep Robo Sven comfortable and under control. The team in Hamilton does a top notch job of keeping him ready for game day, as he's off to a very strong rookie season (even if the team itself isn't doing so great).

Option 2:
Inge Baardsen is a man of very little ego. He never grew up wealthy, all his money, and that of his parents, was spent on his hockey when he was growing up. He doesn’t see the off-ice staff in any of the teams he has played for as being there to serve him, they are colleagues and everyone has their specialties. In Regina, he was very popular among the variety of behind the scenes member of staff, from the physios and trainers to the kit team, right through to the arena crew. They even let Inge drive the Zamboni once! He is with Baltimore now and into his second season. The step up in size of the overall organisation is pretty big between the J and SHL proper, so he is still learning some peoples names. But he does his best to show appreciation for everyone he interacts with on or off the ice

The most important non training staff member at the Seattle Argonauts facility is the therapy pets. Hockey players need a way to unwind and release stress, and the therapy pets, of which there is a wide variety of breeds and types, including such oddities as capybara, micro pigs and weasels, along the more normal cats and dogs and rabbits. Every player gets a chance to play and pet with a few of them after practice, and it has shown to boost the energy and mood of the players substantially. Non players also get to have a session of course, and some family members have made good use of the service as well. Some of the children associated with the team have formed great bonds with the therapy animals, and have turned taking care of them into community service credits which is great. On occasion the team has brought the pets to a local hospital to visit people in wards.

A Simulation Hockey League team having a mascot would be an absolute nightmare. Firstly, whoever comes up with the idea has to convince the players. Then, the players can convince the coaching staff. Then, the coaching staff has to convince the head coach. Then, the head coach has to go to the GM, CIO, CFO, owner, and a whole host of other important figures in the upper hierarchy of team management that getting a pet to roam the ice rink - in the freezing cold - is a good idea. There are very few animals that could thrive in such an environment and even fewer that could thrive in icy environments. Therefore, if the Forge were to get a pet - which is highly unlikely - it would be something like a lizard or a bird, possibly a husky. A husky may actually be the best choice, and he'd have the name HODL after an iconic @Drokeep moment in the Forge playoff run several seasons back.

I don't know if the Inferno have a real life mascot per se, but I do know if we had a pet in the locker room that was on theme it would have to be something super cool like a pheonix. Sure, it's technically a mythical creature but I have faith that management could find one, or something that looks really close to one. Or maybe they just find a different cool looking birb, like an eagle or a bright red macaw or a golden pheasant or a bird of paradise. We could train it to fly out before games or have it air drop things on the crowd during warm-ups like t-shirts or foamy pucks or even little plush versions of itself. It might not be allowed on the bench, but it could maybe sit on top of the glass over the opponents net and just stare down their goalie or defense and make them super uncomfortable, like it's going to dive on them or something. Shake them up before the game, yknow.

To be a professional athlete it takes a lot of work to maintain a healthy body and mind. Requires rigorous training and discipline too. Especially if you plan on performing at a high level of compete and having some longevity to your career. Jack St. Clair takes all of this very seriously, he wants to stay at the top of his game for as long as possible. A lot of it is mindset, but having the right staff in place definitely helps keeping him on track. St. Clair has a nutritionist that helps him out with his diet making sure he is only eating the right foods that fuel his body. There is also his personal trainer that develops his workout plan and gets him in the gym even on days Jack isn't really feeling up to it. Lastly, he has someone he can talk to when he feels his mind isn't in the right place. Seasons are long, and there will always be negative thoughts that creep in.

imagine my shock when GM HotDog waltzed into the room with a pet Narwhal! GM HotDog looked at the entire team before a big game against our division rival, and said "the narwhal bacons at midnight!". being the 34 year old millenials that we are, we asked HotDog why he did not get us a much cooler pet, such as a Capybara! or possibly and Axolotl! GM HotDog scolded Micool (Nathangus McExplosion) for not being grateful. McExplosion was trying to cattle prod the animal with the atlanta inferno logo for petes sake.
Something strange happened, that night we totally played our best hockey of all time. It is clear Gm HotDog must have went to a Sport Psychologist to use MK ultra psychedelic techonlogy on our entire team. Now we cannot imagine our life without the cool badger.. I think that we would probably lose the cup. In order to win the cup we may need a few more pets.

Written Option 2:
Chef, Physiotherapist, Skating coach are the 3 most important non coaching staff trainer for Jacob Marsh. Without them he'd be lost. While he always quietly goes about his business on the ice those 3 take so much off his plate to think about he can maintain his sole focus on improving his on ice game. Chef may be top of the chain here. Marsh has 0 discipline in what he eats if left to his own devices when cooking/ordering. With his personal chef he makes sure Marsh is hitting his macro goals while eating what he likes. After that the next most important is his physiotherapist and his skating coach. His physiotherapist main job is to ensure he is in the best place to not only recover from injuries but prevent them in the first place. His skating coach is his least "favorite" trainer but it is a necessity to take his game to the next level. As he is still getting adjusted his lanky frame his coach has been invaluable to his development as he looks to take his skating to another level in the coming seasons. |
