Big bad league allowing what’s legal, for shame

... again?

This is the 2nd trade I've made in my time here ...
and the last one I helped bail out a GM who was in an unfortunate cap situation

and I traded for a player who earned 36 TPE this season, yeah I'd love to revitalize their career.
But I was not going to offer up a 1st for a player over 400 TPE behind the class leader.

Ask the 18 other GMs why they didn't offer up a 1st

First it is not directed at you, good on you for getting him and a HUGE cap savings on multiple years (yes that is worth at least a first, if not more becuase cap space is the most valuable commodity in this league.) on a arguably discounted trade even talent wise.

Honestly hold that with pride. You won this trade in a big way.

Just saying the league, not you guys, allowed a one sided trade to come through. Doesn't happen often and has been rejected in the past.

Looking forward to receiving an example of when this was rejected in the past.

My apologies the closest I could find of recent history was rejected because a team bid on an IA and tried to trade him after. I will send it to you as I am old and can't get the picture on here.

Apparently that will cause it to be rejected...

Also there is clearly a known that trades could be rejected by HO because LAP last two trades were posted with a as long as they are approved...

Meaning to me the league can reject trades, and yes it has happened in the past for being one-sided to give a team a clear competitive advantage against the rest of the league.

No I added that in there to protect LAP.  We’d be over budget if only 1 trade got processed. They needed to be done at the same time to ensure LAP didn’t break cap rules / roster rules

And if my trade included a pick that was double traded, HO would reject it at the manager level before it even got to the public eye

...but why would you be worried about approval if HO never rejected trades.

To clarify, yes it is good to protect yourself. But if both trades are lined up and posted at the same time which they were (at least on the SHL site), you had no issues with cap. There should have been no worries about going over the cap.

Once again Rashford you are killing it as a GM. Mad respect.

You may have missed my edit above,
but essentially when I post these trades publicly, it is just a copy and paste of the trade post from the GM section of the forum.

Obvious disclaimer that I wasn’t involved in approving this specific trade here, but head office reviews trades for pure legality. If somebody tries to trade a pick they don’t own, if somebody tries to retain on a trade when they’re already maxed out on retentions, that’s the sort of thing that will get a trade rejected. And we have rejected trades for those reasons, but those rejected trades don’t make it past the private GM office post because they don’t get posted publicly until they’re approved. Since the general public can’t see that and probably wouldn’t know this, I will tell you that HO has not, in the entire five years I’ve been here, rejected a trade due to some arbitrary gut feeling that it’s not balanced.

I know someone is going to step in here and try to “what about” me, so I do imagine if there was some painfully obvious collusion going on (like somebody trading 1oa and three 2K tpe players for a fifth rounder or something crazy like that) we would step in, but there is absolutely no recent example whatsoever of the kind of thing you’re talking about here.

I did miss the edit. Fair enough on the approval side being a copy and paste. I withdraw my comment about these two trades.

Ok, I know when I am defeated, and I probably took this way too far for my own amusement.

I do stand by LAP pulled off a massive trade that the cap space alone over multiple seasons is worth more than the value of this trade.

Honestly kudos to them for making a huge move.

HO I am sorry if I pushed this a bit far. I do appreciate the hours of volunteer work you put into this league to keep it running. I am sorry if I insulted or upset anyone. The original comment was an off the cuff comment and when it blew up I thought I would have some fun.
