S79 DFA Bounty #3 - The Future GRADED
#1

Playoffs are still going on, and we're at our third DFA bounty of the season:

With playoff hockey going on in the league, you can feel the excitement in the air and your draft, the real start of your SMJHL career, coming closer. It makes you wonder where this could all lead to eventually.

Written Option:  What are your goals in the leagues? Long term, mid term, short term; what are you hoping to accomplish with your player, or hoping to find on the teams you join. Are you looking for individual success, and maybe even a HoF induction, or will you focus on team success? (250 words min.)

Graphic Option: Create a hockeycard for your player, including at least your render, name and the logo of an SHL team you could see yourself playing for.

Reward: $500,000, for doing one of the options.

Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S80 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S81) are eligible for this bounty.

Deadline: Sunday, November 24th at 11:59 PST.

As a first-time player to the simulation league, I aim to have fun and learn the ins and outs of this online hockey game. So far I have learned there are more ways to earn cash than just completing your daily and weekly chirps. I found out that you can earn cash through media, written, and graphic tasks. As well as completing bounties (such as this task). Anyway, my short-term goal for the league is to be one of the top goal-scorers within the ‘81 draft class for the upcoming season. In order to achieve this prosperous goal, I've built my player heavily around offensive traits and characteristics such as offensive ability, thus I can see myself being the perfect fit for a team that's lacking players with the ability to generate goals. Furthermore, over the next 4 seasons within the J, I'd like to progress my character and enhance his traits/abilities that will enable him to be one of the top goal scorers within the league if not the top scorer. However, at this point in my career, I would like to be an overall offensive unit rather than simply scoring. In other words, I kind of aim to do it all, goal-scoring and playmaking. Once again, I'll accomplish this mighty goal by continuing to enhance my offensive play-making abilities such as passing and shooting range (though I'm not sure how helpful shooting range is, since as a forward I'd assume I'd be relatively close to the net anyways). Lastly, my long-term goal is to become a GM of the team. I've always LOVED the franchise mode in NHL game series so I think I’d love to manage a team and see how it goes. Anyway, that's all, thanks.

First of all, I am being honest when I say I'm still in the early stages of learning the ins and outs of the SHL. But I think to answer my goals I'll answer three sort of ways. Socially, creatively, and in game.

The first day in the community seemed very nice with a few fellow LGBTQ+ members, along with people generally being nice. I've been involved in something similar to this in the wrestling community called "e-feds" (hence why I went with a wrestler as Claude's pic base, haha) and while there's still that sense of community as I am still involved in it to this day, there is this hint of competitiveness, with your roleplays/written pieces determining who wins and loses matches often and people being somewhat protective of their characters because we often have a vision of how we'd like them to be portrayed and their stories told. While I expect some playful chirping and hopes your team wins your simulations over the opponents, I'm hopeful there will be a hint less of that competitive edge and more the enjoyment of the game itself. I'm looking forward to seeing what team I'm first drafted on for the SJHL and hope I can grow attached to that team and whoever I'd be lucky to end up with at the SHL if that happens.

Creatively, I like writing a lot and I do some art on occasion for drawing. I don't think I'd need as labour intensive projects for this as e-feds (for context, current RP I am working on is at about 3k words, last major RP I did ended up around 9k words as I was against genuinely one of the best writers I've seen for it, period) but I'm interested in how to use the media section as a way to earn cash for this, potential upgrades. It'd be an interesting change of pace to try articles once I'm used to the league and maybe provide analysis that's more coherent than late Coach's Corner era Don Cherry. But I'm also hopeful that, while I'm at it, I can tell the story of Claude L'Castor and, if I like this game and stay in it, any future players I create, detailing their journey from Junior to pro. Even art would be a nice change of scenery since I typically draw female characters, so drawing the BEEFY goaltender along with logos and designs can help me get better at drawing different things.

Now, in game. Do I envision Claude as a future Hall of Famer? Eh, I'll start small. My hope first is to be able to get drafted and eventually called up, one day Claude becoming the team's starting goaltender. Then I'll see if I can be lucky enough to win any individual hardware, or hopefully, win the league championship. Many times a team makes a deep playoff run in real life thanks to a goaltender (Price for the Habs, SHERRIF BOBROVSKY for the Panthers as two very recent examples) so you never know. For a little BONUS nugget, what teams would I love to be on? While the two Quebec teams would be interesting for Claude's story as a Laval native, I think the idea of going for a team outside of those two could be a fun story to tell, Claude seeing North America, learning a new place and growing attached to the city he plays in.

So with that, thank you, and let's do that hockey!
