Option 2:

I was asked to plan the Christmas party for San Diego Tidal team, and honestly, it was a big pressure for a new player! First, I decided we need some fun games, so I organize a rollerblade hockey shootout game, but with big inflatable targets instead of reals nets. Everyone had so much laugh trying to aim while slipping on the floor. For food, I bring cheese (Reblochon, Tome of Alpes), baguettes (obviously i'm French!), and also some swiss chocolates because it's Christmas, no? For drink, I make a big punch with fruits and sparkling water (but I prefer champagne).

The party goes really good, everyone was happy and laughing (I think). But then, one teammate (I will not say who) decided to try doing a spin on the inflatable target. He fly off and crash into the table with punch! I think he was little embarrassed. Anyway, it was the perfect party, even with the small chaos.

Written Option 2

As I was planning the Christmas party for my Renegades teammates, I went all out. First, I rented a mechanical bull. With the mechanical bull at the party, we will have contests and whoever is able to stay on the longest will win some great prizes. I also made sure that there were other activities like billiards and darts so that anyone could have a good time even if they did not want to go too extreme. I also went all out on the food, and had a private chef come and cook for us all. The spread was traditional Texas barbecue, and it featured barbecued chicken, ribs, and cornbread amongst other things. Lastly, I organized a pickup roller hockey game for all of the players and their families to participate in so that everyone could have a little fun in a casual game of hockey. Overall, I wanted this party to be inclusive for the families while also representing Texas in the best possible way.

It’s the day before Christmas and you’re in a battle for a big win over the league leading team in the conference. You’re battling with them for league supremacy and a great feeling entering the long league holiday break. You’re tied 4-4 and you’re frustrated you can’t break through. A tie would just feel weird and give you a weird feeling moving forward so you want a result one way or another. Suddenly a mistake by the opponent gives you a breakaway and you see the net in front of you. However, a defenseman gets in your way to prevent the perfect shot. But then a teammate bodies another defenseman to give you the perfect passing opportunity. You pass the puck to the teammate and he scores, winning the game for your team and giving you a euphoric feeling that will hopefully last the rest of the season as the team is motivated by that win.

Written Option 1

Twas the night before Christmas and the Wolfpack were tied going into the home stretch of the game. Oliver Cornwall is generally a pretty reliable kinda guy, but sometimes he pulls a dumb, which has been happening more and more often this season. He takes in the ice, noticing that Louis is up the ice calling for the pass. However, Oliver knows that Louis has failed to consume his requisite kilogram of poutine over the last two weeks. The Quebec government has issued a civil summons for Louis and that has been weighing on his mind, so Oliver knows he can’t trust Louis not to fumble the puck as dirty, dirty forwards are known to do. So instead, he turns to the left, looking for Ragnar, but Oliver makes a Christmas error, delivering the Christmas dinner of choice, right onto the opposition’s tape leading to an easy goal against. Sconnie will definitely give Oliver a Christmas bashing for hurting his stats even more than is already done

T’was the game before Christmas and somehow the scored was tied at 4. A tough back and forth last few minutes of the game resulted in nothing changing on the scoreboard. OT here it comes.
A few shifts go by, and then Johnny Shuffleboard gets the tap to go on the ice. Paired with Cale Salad they get the point as the offense starts a little cycle. Offense gets a good look, goalie say no. In the corner, Salad cuts to the net, goalie says no.
And then the transition is lightning fast. Up comes the other team 3-1 on Shuffleboard. Salad huffing his way back. A quick pass zips right pass a useless Shuffleboard as the other team hits the zone Shuffleboard backskates as hard as he can, but starts losing his footing. He flies backwards into BASE PACK knocking him out of the net. Easy game winner.
Shuffleboard loses all presents he was supposed to get. Nothing but, well actually just nothing.

Twas the game before Christmas, and the score was all tied
The teams were battling, the fans were blurry eyed
The Kraken were pushing, their skill on display
The captain, Chuck Stewart, was on it today

The score sat at four, each team to no avail
The game went to overtime, which was the key detail
The crowd held its breath, as the players plot
Who would be the hero, all it would take is one shot

Chuck Stewart stood tall, ready to pounce
It was his moment to shine, he gave it every ounce
His legs were heavy, but his mind was strong
He knew he needed to end this one, before it was too long

Chuck saw his opportunity, as the puck met his stick
He went flying down the ice, as if his goalie had the ick
Not quite a breakaway but it was all the same,
A two on one with Kim, who was ready for game

In that moment, Chuck thought of his idol
That glorious game she played against the Tidal
Betzee Nickelback ( @kahri ) was her name
Chuck knew if she could do it, he was the same

Stewart to Chaewon ( @JamesT ) the announcer yelled
The fans all stood as the excitement swelled
A pass back to Stewart made it in time
The net was wide open, a miss would be a crime

The building erupted as the red light shined
The horn blasted as if it had its own mind
The Kraken were victorious, there was never a doubt
They went into the holidays as if they caught they biggest trout

Everyone was happy, Christmas time was here
First star of the game was Chuck, what a way to end the year
The Kraken were happy, the players were full of cheer
They partied all night until they were out of beer.

Graj takes the puck from center Tony Soprano and cuts inside against the opposition. He speeds past the winger and looks the center dead in the eyes. With a subtle lowering of his shoulder, he makes the center brace for an inevitable impact, only to at the last moment stand on a skate and hike to the right with just enough time to make it past him. With his other forward linemate Barg Hazbite occupying the remaining winger, he turns his attention to the 2 on 1 he now faces. He can see the net between them, but knows that a shot from here would be pure folly. Graj skates to the left, hoping to give Soprano enough room to skate up to him for a potential pass, but with ice space between the net and puck dwindling rapidly, the right defenseman directly in front of him begins to slow his backwards skate and attack. Graj speeds up as the stick begins to come to the ice in earnest, and with the power of determination and conditioning, his old man legs make it just past the outstretched stick and body of the much younger opponent. With only a moment left before skating around the net, Graj glances up and sees that the angle with which he has to shoot is nearly impossible, but also sees Hazbite rolling in from the opposite end towards the back of the net. He cuts in towards the net, fakes a pass to Hazbite, and on a backwards no-look flick of his stick he sends the puck directly onto Soprano, who without a touch lifts his stick and powers a hellish shot directly at the opposite corner from the glove hand. On instinct, the keeper raises his stick's handle, and the puck deflects off the side and into the back of the net - Philly has won!

The Ottawa Highlander Christmas party has always been weird, but recently it has become much stranger with the addition of the most recent crop of rookies. As Captain Spaceman Spiff was put in charge but he immediately used his powers of delegation to assign duties to his alternate captains. The food to Leo Carlsson and the games to Easton Schaffer. They in turn delegated to the rookies and chaos ensued. Leo's only instructions was breakfast food, a Swedish tradition, and the rookies loaded up on all the best breakfast foods from North America and Sweden and anywhere else they wanted. There was so much everyone took home a huge box of food. Easton gave clearer instructions, skill games only, no randomness or chance, and there had to be a ping pong tournament, which he won easily. Once they were all overfed and the games had run their course, it was finally time for Christmas songs with Frenchie, a time that everyone looked forward to every year, if only for the videos they could post to the internet of Frenchie's shocking renditions of traditional Christmas songs.

Task 2

William Salming is a veteran winger who has already particated to 22 Christmas parties during his time in the league. Since moving from Seattle to Hamilton, he has taken a bigger role when it comes to planning the Christmas party of the team. Salming nowadays brings with him some traditional Finnish food like reindeer, salmon, potatoes, meatballs, green salad and carrots. He also hopes people from different nationalities do the same. Swedish guys brings swedish food and so on. Salming is eager to taste new flavors for sure. He likes to also host a Christmas Quiz. Every year he collects some stats from the ongoing season and then test the knowledge of his team mates. A person with the most correct answers will get a huge bonus from the front office in the next pay check. So stakes are very high in that regard. In the end everyone will give one gift to a random person. The value of the gift needs to be between 500 and 1000 dollars. People give each other watches, rings and so on.

Option 2:

This Christmas, I decided to step up and host my teammates for a Christmas party at my house. As a kid, I remember all the family get togethers and how much fun they were so I wanted to recreate that with my Renegades family. I invited all the players and their families and got everything ready.

For food, I asked a local catering company to create a holiday menu for us. I tried them at a team function and thought the food was a fantastic so I reached out to them for this and they were more than happy to do it. We had games set up for the kids while the adults sat around and hung out together. We did a team Secret Santa and also played a game from my childhood. You make 2 teams and get a ring. A player on the team has the ring and goes around and either pretends to drop the ring in one of their teammates hands, or pretends. The other team basically has to try and figure out who has the ring. If they get it right, they get the ring for their turn. If not, the other team keeps it. It's better to watch it in action.

All in all, it was a great night with the great people and I think I might keep this going for as long as I'm in Texas.

OT is upon us and the Hamilton crease is a buzz with enemy activity. There is no room for anything structured to happen and instead we have a blitz of gloves, sticks and bodies. The goalie is doing his very best Domink Hasek interpretation and the goal light is staying off, for now. Nuck is foaming at the mouth and his nostrils are flaring knowing that there are 11 to many bodies crowding his tender. The kid mittens have been removed, mostly by accident when he was trying to move people out of the blue. But now his temper and stress levels have risen to a fever pitch and its time to clear crease! Cross checks, elbows and unnecessary physical contact are incoming as he blows his top, all the while forgetting about what really matters, the puck. Body slams and pile drivers, broken twigs litter the ice. Its perfect, Nuck could ask for no better place to be!
