Written Option 1: Your team is about to play in the Winter Classic Game. Did your player get to play ice hockey outdoors as they were growing up or are they from area where that isn’t possible? How do you think playing on stadium will be able to replicate those feelings? Is it just pointless gimmick to sell more and more expensive tickets or is it something special for players too, specially your player? And if you had an opportunity to pick who will be your opponent and where the game should be held what would be your picks? Would you want anything else from the event?
Graphic Option 1: Create an image that shows your player playing ice hockey outside, as adult or kid.
Written Option 2: Hockey is great but there are so many other winter sports out there that you can spend your time with. Are there any other winter sports your player is or would have been interested if they didn’t start playing hockey? Something they watched or trained as kid? What sport you think your player would be best at and would they even have potential to be professional at that? Or maybe it is something they like to spend their time even as pro hockey player? How would your player do in general on the alternative timeline where they picked another winter sport over hockey?
Graphic Option 2: Create an image that shows your player participating in any other winter sport

Shaggy is very excited to play in a Winter Classic Game as it would be his first time for him to do so in the SHL. Growing up in Helsinki, he played hockey outdoors pretty much all the time and luckily winters weren't very short there. He even played a few outdoor tournaments around Finland as a young teenager, back then under his 'undecover name' Retu Matto. Being able to do so now as a pro was a whole different story and the opponent didn't even matter that much. If he had to pick a team it would either be a divisional rival or the other team he had history with - the Toronto North Stars, but either would be fine. Of course ideally Shaggy would like the tournament to be held in Winnipeg so they could play in front of their home fans (plus his entire extended family and friends of course) and it was cold enough to do so - sometimes even too cold.

William Salming is from Finland. There are sometimes very very very cold and tough winters so of course he has played some outdoor hockey as a kid. Every winter he headed to the nearest outdoor rink and played there about two to three hours before he was exhausted and then walked 10 minutes back to home to eat and warm himself. Salming would love to play in the Winter Classic game of the SHL. It would be epic environment and event for sure. Hopefully he has sometimes a chance to do it. If Salming would be able to choose the opponent, he would love that Hamilton Steelhawks would be against Toronto North Stars. Those Toronto boys are used to so luxury places and warm ice halls that they would be shocked when they were supposed to play outdoors. Hamilton is known for its grinding mentality so for them playing in a Winter Classic would not be a problem at all. I am sure that would be a nice match-up between two teams which come from different areas of the North America.
Not being born in the southern states of Germany, other winter sports were rarely an option for me apart from the occasional ski or sledding trip. But the few times I tried it over the years, I really enjoyed cross-country skiing. Add the shooting part to it and boom... Biathlon! I'm fairly certain that this is a sport I would have enjoyed and hopefully excelled at if given the option at a much younger age. Training hard physically and mentally to build up technique, endurance and being able to control the heart-rate when you need to hit the targets sounds like something I could have thrived at. Plus you get to be in the cold, wintry regions of the Alps and Scandinavia on a regular basis. The only thing I would likely miss is the team aspect. You get to race in relay races and you train with other athletes, but at the end of the day it's you against the clock and yourself.
Written Option 2: Alexa, living in sunny So Cal as a kid, definitely didn't get familiar with any other winter sports. If it hadn't been for her father and roller skates, she wouldn't even have gotten familiar with hockey. But since going pro, and especially since moving to Canada, a whole new world of sports has opened up to her. Sure, hockey is exciting, but having experienced alpine skiing now, she'd have to say it's the more exciting thing to do. And cross country skiing is a fantastic workout. Of course, simply going ice skating, without the pressure to perform of hockey, is quite fun. And biathlon, the combination of cross country skiing and shooting, is a sport she rarely has the time for, but in true American fashion, finds to be perhaps the most entertaining of all. Not to mention how her hockey skills are applicable, at least her ability to get into the zone!
Blade Hunter grew up in a place where outdoor ice hockey was a way of life. Winters were cold, ponds were frozen, and hockey wasn’t just a sport, it was a ritual. Blade spent countless hours skating on the local pond, bundled up against the chill, with nothing but a couple of nets and his buddies to keep the game alive. The ice was bumpy, the wind freezing cold, but there was something about it raw hockey, where it was just about the love of the game. Playing in the Winter Classic is more than a flashy event for Blade, it’s a chance to reconnect with that feeling. Sure, the lights, roaring fans, and expensive tickets are a far cry from those quiet days, but the essence of playing outdoors remains. If Blade could pick the opponent, he’d want the Minnesota Monarchs. And for the location? Somewhere iconic, like Central Park in New York.
Matthias would love to introduce the sport he grew up playing as a child - it’s called “hiding from the feds in the snow,” and you play it by designating one group as “the hunters,” and the sole remaining person as “Matthias.” It’s a lot like hide and go seek, but the hunters get to use dogs and helicopters and have to yell things like “Matthias, you need to come home” and “Please, you’re the only family your grandparents have left!” And “Polar bears are dangerous, please stop wrestling them” and other nonsense phrases like that. The hunters win if they can incapacitate Matthias and drag him out of the snow, and Matthias wins if he can evade them long enough for the search and rescue efforts to be abandoned. Bonus points if DART gets called in and you still get away.

McLovin is what we call a renaissance man. There is no sport that he can't master, woman he can't woo, individual he can't sway, animal he can't tame, and food he can't eat. That said, McLovin has a secret passion that will come to fruition after retirement to play the greatest winter sport known to man. No, not ice hockey, but curling. No other sport is as beloved in the McLovin household and has long since held a secret place in his heart. The sound of the sweeping, they yelling of the curler, the cold beer waiting for him on the table after a round. What more could a man want? Peak physical form? Not necessary. Ability to glide a rock with precision with the softest of touches? Absolutely. Like a wizard performing a spell, McLovin can scoot that stone around any opponents rock right into center court for a point. Olympics? Not even a question, just a matter of how many. Even the trophy case in his house was built with room for curling accolades.
Written Option 2: Being born in Italy, Dominic had very easy access to the Alps and would go there on vacation every winter to ski and snowboard on the mountains. Dominic was a very sporty child and still is in his adult years. He loves doing different sports especially in the winter which is his favourite season. Dominic has competed in countless downhill skiing tournaments back in his home country and won a few small trophies that he hopes to place beside a 4-star in the near future. In his spare time Dominic also enjoys a little curling though he isn't great at it. He much prefers being in skates. Dominic is very open to try any new sports when they are available to him, and if you ask him if he wants to do a bit of bobsled or luge he will probably say yes. Dominic is very eager to a bad point.
Growing up in Italy, Luca never played outdoor hockey. It was not like he did not want to, just Italy is not known for pond hockey. In fact, Luca did not know it was a thing until he came over to the SMJHL. Now that a Winter Classic is on Luca’s horizon, he started asking around about how outdoor rinks differ from indoor ones that he is used to. He got a surprising amount of feedback but still does not feel ready for the sun glare and colder than normal temperatures. This also got Luca thinking if an outdoor regulation game is worth it? To the fans? Absolutely! To the players? Not really. Would be a cool idea to mix with the All Star games? Yes! Make it so the points do not matter and you will have Luca sold on the idea of outdoor hockey. For now, he just hope the ice does not melt and someone falls into the pond.
