Rence Sykut may appear to be an average hockey player on the outside, but deep down lies something much much more. When the game is tied and the clock is running out, he assumes a new form that has the grace of a ballerina, the power of a raging bull, and the pin point accuracy of an Olympic sharpshooter. His name, of course, is Doctor Bardownski. Being in this form saps vital life force from him so he may only morph into this superhero in clutch, game deciding situations. When it is that time, he gives a subtle nod to the equipment manager who brings him the magic hockey gloves that have been bathed in the cold water springs of Nova Scotia. They vibrate when Rence puts them on and send a jolt down to his spine. He takes the ice and buries another clutch goal to give his team the win. As always, it went bar down.

Troy McClure was in a horrible zamboni accident that transformed him into slashy boy. He goes around slashing justice into everyone and anyone who needs a dose a slashy justice! Cat in the tree? Slashy Boy slashes it down. Kids bullying other kids? Everyone gets a Slashy Boy slash! Grandmother is late picking up the grandkids from school? Everyone gets a stick to the Head. Cashier won't accept the expired coupon? First the cashier gets it,
then you get it, then I'm going to the coupon maker to give them a slash of justice My nemesis? The police. All I do is give out the justice slashes to all those who need it, but the police say that's "battery". I don't have batteries. I have a stick that's made for slashing, and that's just what it'll do. If you don't act right one of these slashes will come after you. Instead of 2 minutes per, it's 6 months per... dang.

Will Nuck is considered a rock star and a defensive hero among the Hamilton players and more and more among defensive fans league wide. He has a way of controlling the flow of a games defensive game when it matters to stop and often times frustrate his opponents. He is a large solid body that is strong both on the puck and on his man and as a result hes hard to play against and a thorn in the side of any opposing teams attempts at tying the game late or trying to get back into a tight game. On the bench he is always cheering his teammates on and getting his teammates riled up and ready to go vocally. He is a guy you want on you side whether he is on the ice or on the bench as his play is just as large as his personality and as a result he is a team hero!

Written option #1:

In a comic book universe not too dissimilar from our own, Johan puts on a disguise and a new jersey after his games with the Citadelles. With a revamped sense of style he becomes Tay Kaway, the unstoppable Robin Hood of the hockey-themed superhero world! Armed with the ability to steal any medium-sized item he can carry, Tay snaps his fingers and teleports any such item into his grasp. Whether it means stealing a weapon from a criminal, stealing back the burgled purse of an old lady, or stealing the puck away from his on-ice rivals to lead a counterattacking rush, he can do it all. Tay leads the SMJHL AND the vigilante superhero world in takeaways, mostly using his powers for justice, but these lines of morality get blurry during a game. Especially when some hot-dogging superstar from another team tries embarrassing the QCC defense, Tay is ready with an active stick to steal the puck from any wanna-be McDavid and give the momentum right back to his own team!

In an alternate universe there is indeed a superhero with an alternate ego of Tibuk Soonika. He goes by the name the Count, he is a bit of an anti hero in that he has incredible powers of transformation, strength, and incredibly immortality. These come at a cost as he is required to consume vast quantities of human with some regularity to sustain his powers. He has several weaknesses which he chooses not to share with the world and prefers to operate under the cover of night so as to avoid suspicion. He has no one particular villain he combats but strives to stomp out intolerance within the general public. This is often met with hostility as many people today are afflicted by the scourge of disinformation, bigotry and just generally being bad people for no reason. The Count has been a force of good for much of his long life and while misunderstood is always there to preserve people and their way of coexistence.

Option 1: Interesting concept. I'll go with a random name that I just thought of: Captain Frost. One day Shaggy got hit by a puck in a really weird way that knocked off his mask and he fell onto the ice and woke up in an alternate world suddenly with super powers. Sure, why not, he thought. He noticed he was able to create hockey rinks (basically ice surfaces) anywhere he wanted to so playing hockey was possible everywhere now. And that's what he did. He also had a nice trick that he could create a shield of ice around himself covering the entire net so nobody could shoot into it. While this might not be very fair, it did help his team win games, fans were happy and that's what mattered. We're in an alternate world after all, they don't have the same rules and we're talking about spontaneous games on a random rink created by Captain Frost. No villains in this world.

Option 1

I think the only fitting superhero name for Ylib, who plays for the Rage, would be the Rage Ranger. The Rage Ranger would have the power to control a small army of bulls and also have the power to summon ice and pucks at will. He could stop villains by firing an infinite stream of pucks at them across banks of ice that could twist and turn in any direction to provide an accurate shot. Alternatively, he could also surround the villains with a horde of bulls to prevent them from maneuvering around the streets of Manhattan. I'm sure the villains the ranger would face would all be themed around the other different SHL teams, with the strongest ones being the divisional rivals of the Rage. He could fight various villains like a phoenix, a blacksmith, an eagle, or a giant barracuda. I'm not sure exactly what kind of powers they might have, but surely the ability to summon ice and control bulls will be enough to defeat them.

Oh hell yes, this prompt was made for me and Vik specifically. Alternate universe superhero Viktor is known as Viktory, because the boy cannot and will not put any thought into being creative if he doesn't have to, and it kind of suits him anyway. He can't talk his way out of a paper bag, but the dude knows how to win. As for his superpowers, I'm going to keep it simple: fast hands. He couldn't really ask for much more in the current universe, so I just think it would be swell to have a wink back to his days in the J where he absolutely would not hold on to the puck and was instantly passing it away. And not in a useful way. Viktory's super villain would likely be Nega-Viktory, and the exact inverse of everything that Viktor is, plus extra added evil. It's more than likely Nega-Viktor's only goal in life is to undermine Viktor and what little self-esteem he has already, and be very good at it. Luckily, Vik's pretty skilled at pushing through adversity in spite of himself. And of course he could only ever be on the Pride, no matter the universe.

Written Option 2: A hero in sports is often described as a player who performs when the pressure is at its highest. This could be from a game winning goal in a close game, a game tying goal, a game saving defensive play or of course for our goalies out there a game saving… save! But this is only the visual aspects of being a hero on the ice. What else makes a hero on the ice or behind closed doors in the locker room. Is your player a hero for their team? Is there another player you’d consider your team’s hero?
I agree with a lot of what was said in the question. A hero is defined by his or her actions and naturally that's much easier to see on the ice, especially in those high pressure moments. But you can certainly be a hero off the ice as well. Perhaps it's as simple as being the first one on the ice at practice to get the team ready, or the last to leave and take a few extra shots on the goalie. Maybe it's helping your teammates in the gym, or away from the rink entirely with something in their personal life like relationship issues or accommodations for a new teammate or rookie. Oskar doesn't see himself as a hero, but after the latest series of moves by the organisation he's one of just a few of the long term veterans still on the team and a lot of the younger and newer players look to him to help set the tone.

Prompt 2

The hero behind closed doors for a team is typically the one who can hold the team together regardless of the controversy affecting the players. For the Whalers, that person is definitely our GM. He has been the glue that kept the team rolling for a wild ride in the past 3 seasons. The core of our team was built from his fantastic drafting but endured one of the worst seasons in SMJHL history. His personality and ability to bring people together kept them active and bought into the vision of seeing the Whalers succeed with them at the helm. Bringing in new rookies and another middling season followed but our beloved GM always made the end goal clear and kept us together over a common cause. Now with that core, The Whalers are near the top of the standings, looking to achieve the goals our GM told us we would be capable of from the beginning. That is what a real team hero is to me.
