Primary Purpose: To audit the budgets of all 12 SHL teams and ensure all teams are under the SHL salary cap at the end of each season.

Nature of Work: Reporting directly to the Commissioner and/or Deputy Commissioner, this is a position that requires a deep understanding of the SHL salary cap/budget system, and ultimately enforcement of the cap.

The Auditor General works independently to ensure that there is a level playing field in the SHL insofar as all teams remain under the salary cap. This requires an understanding of minor league budgets as well as front office budgets in order to ultimately assure that no teams are finding loopholes in order to spend above the cap.

Responsibilities: At the beginning and end of every season, must verify that every individual SHL team is under the salary cap and confirm that everything is properly recorded and booked by teams in terms of player contracts. Must then report to the commissioner which teams are under the cap, and which teams, if any, are in violation of the salary cap.
