"It is a cold day in Chicago, Toews drives down from his place down in Carlsbad, California to go meet his parents and say goodbye as he moves on to the SHL"
Toews says goodbye to his mom and dad who helped him along his journey of pursing a job being an accountant. After a couple years of business Toews felt the desire to stop doing this job, as it was quite stressful for him, and he couldn't cope with it. To relieve his stress, Toews would do some yoga in his house before and after classes, but it only worked for a while to calm the guy down. Then he remembered, as a kid he used to go on the local pond and shoot around, so one day he went out to the nearest sports shop and bought a pair of used bauer skates, Toews skated around and felt great! He took a couple shots on the net, and it felt so nice to see the puck hit the net and watch the mesh bounce. Toews then called up his brother Jordin FourFour and wanted to see what he was up to, he had not talked to FourFour for a while, as business school was getting in the way and taking up too much of his time. "Hey Jordin, hows it going? How have you been?" Jordin: Oh hey Patrick, I can't talk right now, I am kinda at my hockey game. Can I call you back later? Patrick: Oh.. Sorry, Sure call me when your done. Patrick had no clue about what Jordin was talking about, he knew Jordin loved hockey, but he didn't think that he was going to pursue it. His parents always pushed Jordin to become an engineer. Patrick then went into the living room later that night and turned on the T.V. He hadn't watched any TV in a while, he switched channels to TSN, where his jaw dropped. He saw Jordin FourFour and the Texas Renegades playing against the Seattle Riot in a league that was called the Simulation Hockey League. Toews finally knew what Jordin was talking about, he was so proud and amazed that Jordin actually made it to the show! Patrick called up Jordin after he saw the TV and asked Jordin how he got there, Patrick wanted to pursue this dream now and with the help of FourFour, he got an interview with a couple of the junior teams. The St. Louis Scarecrows and the Vancouver Whalers had interviews scheduled with Patrick, he was so nervous to start this first interview with the Whalers. He went into the boardroom to meet the GM and the Co-GM. He walked in with his head down and sat in the chair, when he looked up, he was so ecstatic and surprised to see his brother sitting there alongside Jordan Hall. "Hi, I am Jordan Hall, I am the GM of the Vancouver Whalers, beside me is our Co-GM Jordin FourFour" The interview ended up going very well for Toews as with his brother's presence in the room, he felt no shyness towards Jordan Hall. Next up, he had the interview with the St. Louis Scarecrows. Heading into this interview Toews felt he was for sure to sign with the Whalers unless the Scarecrows changed his mind somehow and blew him away. He walked in and out of that boardroom within 10 minutes. The interview went alright, but he wasn't interested in being a part of that franchise. All that went through his mind during the interview was the fact that he would be playing for the Vancouver Whalers, even though they still needed to offer him a contract, but he was certain he would be signed! Toews recieved two emails the next day, one from the Scarecrows and one from the Whalers, immediatly, Toews accepted the contract deal from the Whalers. He was so ecstatic to start his career in Vancouver, following the footsteps of his brother Jordin FourFour. Next the press interviewed Toews on this experience "It's really been so surreal these past couple days, from being in California in business school to playing hockey in a professional league! It feels like all the stress on my life as been lifted, and I am starting a new chapter in my career! I am excited to play with this organization that has won two cups in a row, and I hope to be part of the team that makes it three cups."
