If they were doing something more meaningful than speed skating or curling Tongue

If you're patriotic, you support your country in no matter which sport and whichever events they're taking part in.

I don't see how cheering for something like the NFL is more or equally patriotic as supporting your country at the Olympics.

Now children, to the right, we have a wild Maxy in his natural habitat. Claiming to not give a shit when he actually agrees with what was said...
No I don't? I was saying just because someone was crying during the national anthem at a sports game doesn't mean it's some profound prideful moment.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Maxy there is a northern half of your country.
Yes I'm aware, I was raised there. But even then people didn't care about the Olympics as much as they cared about the Celtics, the Red Sox, the Bruins or the Patriots where I lived.

Yes because Boston = the entire Northern US. Dude, do you think before you type?

Maxy's logic

Crying during a pre-game NFL anthem =/= Winning an Olympic Gold Medal and crying as your country's flag gets raised with the national anthem

It's not, I'm not saying cheering for the NFL is patriotic, nor am I saying I'm cheering for someone not named America. I don't really care who wins. If America wins that's cool, if anyone else wins, meh, but I personally don't see the olympics as a way of being patriotic. It's once every 4 years and it's a crapshoot.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

I'm from a few hours away from Boston. I was using it as an example as I highly doubt that where I was raised is the outlier of the country. I highly doubt that the rest of the north is all gung ho about the Olympics far more than they are for any other sport.

Yeah because winning an olympic gold medal in a game that a very small percentage of the world actually cares about is the most patriotic thing you can do and all. You're not making a change for you country, you're not helping anyone, you're not doing a damn thing to make the world a better place but hey! You can skate faster than this person, or can ski better than this person!

The winter Olympics are every 4 years. I don't remember seeing everyone getting hyped about the Summer olympics and being all Patriotic around here then. Like I said earlier, people only care when their country is suppose to dominate

When you work hard for 4 years to compete with the best in the world and you win for your country and see your country's flag go up with your national anthem going it is a prideful moment.
