Leagues a joke lets have a lockout because were not making enougj money an contracts are too high. Now they are paying 10+mill for super stars vs 6-8. An now even ur bottom feeding lower lines guys are making 3-4 mill

Kane and Toews are great players but this is stupid. This doesn't leave a whole lots of cap space for depth players that are key for long playoff runs. I'm surprised they didn't go for a discount to the Hawks, this is incredibly greedy and selfish of them.

I like the signings. They would have gotten a lot more on the open market.

They will have 14 roster guys under contract with almost their entire core intact and have 4 million to play with. This is without the cap going up too. Caps will be fine.

And they can't even get rid of Hossa without buying him out

They won 2 cups recently and even if the price tag is high, they're still a good team and can contend for a cup. Sucks for the Hawks that these two didn't want to take any real heavy discounts but oh well. If the cap goes up? Great. If it doesn't go up as expected then they'll figure something out.

I don't understand why they would take a discount bigger than this? 10 million is a discount in my eyes.

They wants like 11-12M, they won't accept 9M for the way they have been playing.

But yeah these guys are both franchise players, 10m isnt bad although I think around 8.5m would of been better for the organization.

imo good signing as they're franchise players but who knows how this will affect them. They still have some space but with the resigning they have to do they might need to trade one of their wingers. On the plus side they got Richards for only 2M so it helps balance things out, kind've.

The signings don't effect them this year.
It'll be interesting to see how it works out in the future tho.
They're going to have to depend on drafting well to fill out their roster, which they have done pretty well with so far

Once again... So happy we got Getzlaf and Perry locked up. Makes their signings look even better seeing what similar caliber players are getting, and not even on the open market.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Oduya, Sharp, Rozsival, Versteeg are the guys that will be cut loose/dealt. Teravainen replaces Richards after next season, Hawks have some solid youth on the rise, dont forget that.
