Mock S20 SHL Entry Draft An educated guess for the upcoming draft
#1

I know this has been done before, and I didn't want to step on anyone's toes but I wanted to do this from my perspective. This is assuming the draft is standings based and that the teams all stay in the position they are in right now. Thus...

Round 1

1. New England (via Minnesota) – Benjamin Reid, D
It’s not entirely a secret that New England is looking to bolster their forward corps. But with the first pick, Reid is just too good to pass up on. He has a promising future ahead of him.

2. West Kendall – Bojo Biscuit, D
West Kendall need to find help for their struggling D. Bojo would be a solid pick here. He’s been entrusted to captain both the Montreal Impact and the rookie team, in the Super Series. His physical game is unparalleled.

3. Minnesota (via Calgary) – Chuck Goody, D
I think Minnesota will continue the theme of selecting defencemen and choose the reigning first overall pick of the SMJHL draft. They can’t go wrong selecting Chuck Goody, he’s a top tier talent.

4. Toronto (via Texas) – Jamie Hawkins, RW
I believe Toronto will be the team to draft the first forward, this season. And, of course, it is none other than Jamie Hawkins. He is the most complete forward in this draft class. His offensive ability is number one, and he also comes with defensive awareness.

5. Edmonton – Niklas Wikstrom, RW
Edmonton will not be able to turn their heads from this two-way treasure. His reliable and skillful play should be what the Blizzard need to bring their team to the next level.

6. Calgary (via Manhattan) – Alexander Kjaerberg, C
Calgary will choose Kjaerberg in the sixth overall position. His offensive and defensive play will help the team in big ways. He is a big part of the ‘Crows offence this year, and should be able to take his skills to the SHL.

7. Seattle – Mikko Koskinen, RW
With the seventh pick, Seattle will pick Koskinen. They are in a position where they can select a defenceman or a forward, so they chose to combine the two and select a two-way power. Koskinen has the skating and passing ability of a top-tier forward, while also being able to do more than his share defensively.

8. New England (via Toronto) – Kristian Eriksson, RW
It’s been well documented that New England’s been looking for solid offensive players and, with their second pick in the first round, they will select Eriksson. He is the first pure offensive forward taken in this year’s draft.

9. Minnesota (via Winnipeg) – Barney Stinson, D
This is a good pick for Minnesota to consider. They need help defensively, and Stinson could be the guy to help out. He is currently second in the league in +/- and is a presence physically. His TPE is good, sitting at 231, and he’s got a good bank which he can use to further train his player.

10. New England (via Los Angeles) – Aviad Ratzon, C
Continuing with their plan to add depth to their forward prospect pool, the Wolfpack will select Aviad Ratzon, from the St. Louis Scarecrows. He is an offensive threat who is hard to contain on his best days.

11. New England – Pedro Sarantez, RW
This player is an absolute offensive dynamo, who probably could have been picked earlier. He will be a force in the SHL for years to come.

12. West Kendall (via Hamilton) – Griffin Simons, C
With an offence which has struggled all season, and with the improvement of their defence with Bojo Biscuit, West Kendall will select Griffin Simons. He is another playmaker drafted in this round, and his talents will help this Florida team become an up-and-coming organization.

Round 2

13. New England (via Minnesota) – Sam Samsinov, LW
Samsinov is another forward which is along the lines of what the GMs in New England are trying to build on. His puck handling and passing are sublime.

14. Los Angeles (via West Kendall) – Keith Trubachev, LW
The Knights are a prospect hotbed, and Los Angeles will select the playmaking left-winger, Keith Trubachev, whose offensive skills are above average.

15. Calgary – Friedrich Müller, D
Müller has been amazing for the Scarecrows this season, and he will have done enough for Calgary to not be able to resist him.

16. West Kendall (via Texas) – Arton Laxk, G
The highly-touted Arton Laxk from the Regina Force, will be the first goalie selected in this year’s draft. He is the third player type selected by this team, and has a chance to step in early.

17. Texas (via Edmonton) – Jackson Hauke, RW
The Renegades will be looking to bolster their attack with the help of Jackson Hauke. He is very reliable defensively and has the offensive power to be a top-class forward. He has been lights out this season, in the SMJHL.

18. New England (via Manhattan) – Bryson Thomaz, RW
It’s a wonder how this player was still available at this point in the draft. Thomaz is top-class talent and if drafted here, could be considered a steal.

19. West Kendall (via Seattle) – Jackson Rogers-Tanaka, D
The Platoon will continue to improve their defensive corps with their next pick. He is a two-way defenceman who is strong defensively and has the ability to move the puck up ice, as well.

20. Toronto – Toki Wartooth, D
This player is a prototypical two-way defender, and is a smart choice after the selection of Hawkins in the previous round.

21. Winnipeg – John Heimer-Schmidt, C
JHS is a playmaker that any team would be lucky to have. Only concern for him is his physical play, however he has offensive talents which can make up for that shortcoming.

22. Toronto (via Los Angeles) – Riley Forsberg, RW
This is a sniper capable of playing top line minutes in the SHL. He will help the already strong Toronto offence become more dynamic.

23. New England – Valterri Bottas, D
After acquiring a plethora of forwards in this draft, New England will select a defenceman to help balance out their prospect pool. They select none other than the offensive sparkplug on the ‘Crows blue line.

24. Hamilton – Dakota Rhodes, C
The offensively strong Steelhawks will add to their potent offence with the addition of Rhodes, an explosive forward currently playing for the Detroit Falcons.

Round 3

25. New England (via Minnesota) – Gryck Rhobinson, C
This free agent signing by Kelowna proved to be a smart decision, New England cannot go wrong with trusting this playmaking centre in their squad.

26. Toronto (via West Kendall) – Nathan Russell, RW
This power forward could have been chosen higher up, been for some reason has fallen. His passing is the highlight of his game.

27. Toronto (via Calgary) – Kari Kekkonen, D
Kekkonen currently leads the SMJHL in +/- and will be a great defender in the SHL one day. This is a reliable two-way defender, and his addition will help improve the North Stars drastically, down the road.

28. New England (via Texas) – Yuri Boyka, LW
The Wolfpack are unable to withstand their desire to add forward to their prospect pool and will select the big two-way forward from Montreal. His shot will make some wonder why he wasn’t drafted earlier. You would expect his strength to be higher, but will be surprised by his skating and puck handling ability.

29. Los Angeles (via Edmonton) – Sachimo Zoidberg, D
The second Impact player to be selected in a row, Zoidberg has the size, ability, and technique to become a strong defensive defenceman in the SHL. His ability to dish out the puck makes up for his weaker shot.

30. Minnesota (via Manhattan) – Dean Colt, RW
This is a player that can skate for days and never seem to get tired. That alone will tire out opponents, and once you factor in his combination of checking and offensive ability, then you’ve got a player that teams need to look out for.

31. Seattle – Blake Sherrill, LW
Like Colt, Sherrill is a great power forward prospect. The only difference is Sherrill is more of a offensive threat than Colt. The similarities between the two in skating and defensive play are there, which can make a case for this player to claim that he is a dangerous person to play against.

32. Toronto – Jed Hackert, D
Hackert has been a pleasant surprise for ‘Crows fans this season. He has a great shot and matches it with his strong defensive play.

33. Winnipeg – Mark Longford, RW
This is a forward how sticks out when discussing defensive forwards. He’s got good size and great defensive technique. He also has a rocket of a shot and a blistering pass. Longford is a steal in this draft position.

34. Los Angeles – Matt Kruze, RW
Kruze is the third power forward in a row taken in this round. He has been throwing his body around in every game he’s played thus far. He has an astonishing 71 hits in twenty-eight games so far this season.

35. New England – Jed Lloren, RW
Lloren’s passing is sharp as a knife. A red flag would be his strength, which is subpar…however his skating ability allows him to avoid much contact. His puck handling is also a noticeably strong part of his game.

36. Texas (via Hamilton) – Nick Carlzner, LW
The captain of the St. Louis Scarecrows is added to the Renegades, and will provide some much needed offence.

Yes probably pmeof the best teams in the league

And we already have 2 franchise defenseman, so drafting 2 more would be a good idea. Logic.

Texas has 2 franchise defenseman. Partlow and Velvera are both over 1000 TPE.

Winnipeg has 0 franchise defenders.
