Mike Richard, interestingly enough the leader here in our Season 48 showcase yet getting drafted late in the 3rd round. Did the Vancouver Whalers get a steal with Mike Richard or is he just an early bloomer? @Segi of the reigning season 47 champions, Anaheim Outlaws, gives us his opinion on that:

"Performance on this level is really not the most important thing to look for in prospects. Their attitude is much more important to SMJHL GMs and Mike Richard came a bit short in presenting himself to them. I think that's the reason, he didn't get drafted earlier. However, he can still turn this all around and proof to the league that he indeed was a steal and should have been picked earlier."

The Wranglers finish the showcase with the best record at 9-5-3, with the Stingrays following at 7-6-2, then the Vipers at 6-8-1 barely edging out the Blazers at 5-8-2. Not surprisingly their Goals For / Against fall in the same shadow with the Wranglers at 124.49%, Stingrays at 104.08%, Vipers at 96.36% and Blazers at 78.95%. So the Wranglers win it all right. Wrong, the Wranglers actually pull their best Tampa Bay Lightning impressions as they get upset in the Conference finals to be swept by the Blazers with a score of 3-1 in Game 1 and 3-2 in Game 2. The Stingrays take the Vipers to game 3 of their conference finals but lose in a spontaneous overtime, 51 seconds in as Jagger Fouquette is on the doorstep from Scott Miller and Ricky Spanish to finish it. That's right the two bottom seeds move onto the finals to face off. Blazers come out strong in Game 1 with 5 goals from Henrik Sapotchik, Wet Cucumber, Jake Primeau, Jan Zacha and Elijah Jones and one goal to ruin the shutout for Pucky Stopz from who else but Jagger Fouquette again. Vipers make sure to come back and respond for Game 2, with 5 goals from Scott Miller, Anthony Archer, ZZ Big Fish, Gotta Love Honors Bio, and Archer again with the game winner. The Blazers' put up a fight with 3 goals from Wet Cucumber, Jean Francois-Mayer and ZZ Sidney Crosby. Game 3 as it's do or die, Vipers get a powerplay goal at 9:16, who else but Jagger Fouquette from Scott Miller. The Blazers go on to strike twice in a row, thank Jean-Francois Mayer and Theodore Sober for the game leading goal but the Vipers aren't done. Who else? Jagger Fouquette at 14:48, another powerplay goal in the 3rd period and we're going to overtime. And then 1:58 in overtime, ZZ Dan Bucaro to ZZ Drew Supinski and this Vipers prospect squad claims the championship to open up their careers in the SMJHL.
