Whalers vs. Force
Starting Goalies: James Beatley :force: Milo Ethier The scoring came fast and early for the Force in this one, scoring 2 goals within 14 seconds and going up 2-0 at the beginning of the first. However, Vancouver would battle back to tie up the game with two power play goals before the end of the period and in the final minutes of the period Ausy Willison wins the faceoff back to Kovalchuk who just misses the net but it takes a funny bounce and ends up right on the stick of Sterling Knight who has no troubling putting it in and making it 3-2 for the Whalers after the 1st period. The second period didn't see much action besides a few hits, the occasional shot on goal and two penalties that resulted in nothing. Off to the third period we go, in the 11th minute with Regina on the power play they would score to tie the game at 4 a piece. Vancouver then scored a minute later but yet unable to keep the lead again Regina would tie it up at 5 a piece only 26 seconds later. This one needs extra rounds and over time would solve nothing so off to the shootout they went. In the 3rd round Jason McGraw has the game on his stick, he skates in, backhand, forehand, but the puck rolls off his stick and extends the shootout. To the 10th round of the shootout we go, Jagup has just scored for the Whalers putting them up in the shootout. Marushin holds the game on his stick for the Force, hoping to extend it...he shoots top shelf, and Beatley absolutely robs him to win the game for the Whalers! 3 Stars: 1 - Truck Stoker (VAN) 2 - James Marushin (RGF) 3 - Mike Abell (VAN) Final: 6 - 5 :force: (SO) Knights vs. Screcrows Starting Goalies: Mark Harter Noah Jackson This one would get off to a rather slow start with both teams registering only 5 shots each on goal in the first period of play and plenty of missed shots! But during the second period the game would be wide open despite yet another slew of misses and low shooting! In the 8th minute of play during the second Kelowna would get on the board first thanks to a goal by Mole, however only 12 seconds later the Scarecrows would tie it back up at 1-1. Kelowna wasn't done for the period though as they would once again score, this time on the power play thanks to McDoodle's first of the season. 2-1 when Tom Berkis takes a double minor for high sticking and sens St. Louis to the power play for 4 minutes or less. On the ensuing powerplay, Jagr wins the face off and after three missed shots in a row Bursyuk makes no mistake in burying it into the back of the net to tie the game back up at 2 a piece. To the 3rd period we go, where yet again shots are being missed wide, Johnny Bravo takes one but he misses wide and somehow ends up with the puck on his stick again...he tries again, Jackson stops it but it goes back out to a wide open Xander Mole who shoots it into the wide open cage to put the Knights up 3-2 and that's how this one would end. 3 Stars: 1 - Xander Mole (KEL) 2 - Viktor Svensson (KEL) 3 - Cameron Urbowicz (STL) Final: 3 - 2 |
