S24 Written PT#2 - 'Rookies vs. Send-downs: BeAGM'
#12

C - Adam Falk :impact:
A surprise pick, to many maybe but it shouldn't be. Adam Falk is the highlight story of the SMJHL season for Montreal. A team desperately thin in the center position, Falk agreed to the inside. The LW to Center convert is making splashes in the SMJHL ever since. His work ethic and team attitude sets him apart from many around him and I think he embodies the characteristics that I feel should associated with the All-Rookie Team. While everyone has been distracted by the big names of Jesster, Wind and Hoover, Falk has been quietly showing this league up. Currently the rookie goal leader with 8, placing him second in scoring of all rookies, Falk has been an adrenaline shot for the Impact offense. This guy has a complete game, my choice for center.

RW - Robb Wind Scarecrows
The first overall SMJHL pick had a slow start, but it really wasn't bad at all. Wind plays on a team that affords him the time and opportunity to grow behind a strong group of veteran forwards. Not many top 3 picks in a draft can say that, as we see in Montreal as they rely on Jesster to produce in order to have consistent scoring. Wind is a guy who gets better and does it quickly. He has worked on his two way game a lot since training camp and if he can work on fixing his +/- Wind is the perfect SMJHL rookie winger.

LW - Zack Hoover Whalers
The biggest first round surprise pick Hoover has proven he was worth the selection. One of the best rookies defensively to come out of the first round Hoover has translated his game completely in the SMJHL. Already tallying 15 points in his first 20 games, he sits in the top 10 of rookie scoring leaders and continues to build on his success from preseason. Although the Whalers as a team have struggled since, Hoover is one of the brightest spots in that city.

D - John Matthews Scarecrows
A Two-Way defensemen who has already found his groove on the offensive end of the ice, Matthews is an easy choice to front an all-rookie defensive pairing. This guy is reliable in his own end, with a +1 rating, he is improving every game to be more dependable back there. He helps solidify a backbone on a winning team, his impact for the Crows is huge. To have a guy come in and be the top scoring rookie on a team with Robb Wind, that is impressive.

D - Maria Maximova Knights
A perfect pick to go along side Matthews is Maximova. One of the most potent offensive defensemen rookies in the league. Maximova is a smooth passing, quick, and decisive defensemen and has been showing how consistent her game is. There is a respectable toughness to her game as well, tallying 15 hits in her 20 games, she hasn't been shy to throw the body.

G - Austin Lemieux Falcons
Lemieux is a guy that showed promise during the prospect showcase in the offseason and his game has translated. He leads rookie goalies in TPE and has been a reliable asset to Bowden in Detroit. Sitting at a 6-3-1 record he has the chance to split time and pick his battles in his rookie season. GM Mook has Lemieux is a perfect scenario and Lemieux is showing SHL GMs who might be looking to the future of their goaltending situation that he can be an answer.
