Wøllker Rates the SHL Teams

It won't be that long til the S26 SHL Draft, and while the Eligibles are focused on their current seasons, there is always time to wonder what the future holds.

Wyatt Wøllker is a rookie defender for the Vancouver Whalers and is projected to be a first round pick - so we asked him what he thought about all the SHL teams. Here are the results:

Stampede Buffalo Stampede: An expansion team would certainly be a fun option as ice time and a roster spot would be easier to crack than a team with a full line up. Buffalo has been doing quite well for an expansion team,
still in contention for a playoff spot as the halfway mark approaches. The only downside, is, well, it's Buffalo.

Rating: 7/10

Dragons Calgary Dragons: A team on the upswing, they seem to be coming out of their doldrums and being competitive again. Not sure how easy it would be to crack their lineup, as they are sending down guys with 500+ TPE, I don't really want to spend 3 years in the Juny's. Also they need a new logo. Also, as I am from Edmonton IRL, this would be painful.

Rating: 5.5/10

Blizzard Edmonton Blizzard: The team my first player was drafted to, I played here for 7 seasons as Muerto. Loved it. Great GMs, great guys. Could probably crack the roster within 2 seasons. My RL home as well.

Rating: 9.5/10

Steelhawks Hamilton Steelhawks: The team Muerto is retiring from, only played 3 seasons here but we won a cup and I had my most productive
seasons here. Really great LR. Might be hard to crack the roster, and also they don't have a 1st round pick, I'd hate to see someone good traded away for a pick just to be able to draft me, but, if it happened, I'd be happy to go back!

Rating: 9/10

Panthers Los Angeles Panthers: Consistently good team, with a roster of really solid players and members. The GMs are cool, the city is awesome, and I like the logo! Would be happy to don that uni! They might be picking late, though.

Rating: 8.5/10

Rage Manhattan Rage: Definitely a roster full of really good players and some funny members, I expect it would be fun to be part of this team. Plus NYC has to be the best market to want to live and play in. They would also definitely have roster space to slot me in, even as early as the draft year. If they keep playing well, though, they may only have a late pick.

Rating: 9/10

Chiefs Minnesota Chiefs: Definitely not having the best year ever, and they may get worse before they get better, as they are losing some key players to retirement. But if they can't pick things up, they may have an early pick, and I could see myself playing alongside Garbanzo and White!

Rating: 8/10

Wolfpack New England Wolfpack: Stinson! A team having a tough run since their cup win, but definitely a solid LR and they have a GM I respect. They are also on pace to have a lottery pick! Boston is a cool city, too, and wolves are pretty awesome.

Rating 8.5/10

:admirals: Portland Admirals: Another expansion team, one which definitely would have room for a young defender. I like the colors, I like the West Coast, and also with a lottery pick. I would not be upset to go here!

Rating: 8/10

Riot Seattle Riot: Absolutely! Home of the Seahawks, home of Leo! I have bugged GoB for 10 seasons that he could have drafted Muerto, he could definitely make up for that by drafting Wøllker! I feel I could be part of this roster within a season of being drafted.

Rating: 9/10

Renegades Texas Renegades: A team in rebuild mode, but they definitely need defenders and if they don't pull their socks up, could be looking at a lottery pick. I know they have some recreate guys who they might have on their radar ahead of me, but Deener knows talent and I am sure he will be taking a LONG, HARD look at me!

Rating: 8.5/10

Stars Toronto North Stars: I would absolutely love to go play with Toki, Cunny, Eriksson, guys I drafted when I was in Kelowna. The team itself is cursed, we all know that, so I would never win a Cup, though. But could probably find a roster spot pretty quickly. Toronto itself is a pretty sweet city, too.

Rating: 9/10

Platoon West Kendall Platoon : A team on the rise, but they have a ton of young defenders already whom they might be invested in. Also I believe they don't have a 1st round pick, so this is unlikely to happen. it would be cool if it came to pass, though, as I think they have a great LR

Rating: 6/10

Jets Winnipeg Jets: It looks like they are a bit weak on defense but I am not certain what they have for current prospects. Drew Myers is a player I can learn from on how to build a solid defenseman in the SHL. They also seem a lot more active with their roster now, and the group they have all seems pretty solid. Only downside: Winnipeg the city is ... ugh.

Rating 8/10
