He can't possibly be this far from being good, can he? Saying ostensibly that someone needs to develop his IQ, talent and skating is basically saying that he is below average in all qualities of the game? Thompson isn't high on my radar and I've seen limited video, can anyone tell me if this is accurate or just sour grapes?

I don't think that's really a fair assessment of Thompson, he plays physically with his size but it is true he needs to get stronger and use his size to protect the puck a bit better, which strength can come with development. I think he's a perfectly fine two-way player and he's a good offensive zone player, but I wish his 5-on-5 production was a bit higher, I believe he had 13 powerplay goals this year which is great, but that also means that he had just one 5-on-5 goal which isn't so great. We'll see how his 2nd season at UCONN goes but I can see him becoming a more well-rounded player than he is now as far special team play vs 5-on-5 play, I think he definitely has the skill set to find that 5-on-5 production.
