Joint Presser: Zbynek & Vyskoč The Czech Connection
#1

SMJHL veteran Vratislav Zbynek and soon-to-be SMJHL draftee Dionýz Vyskoč enter the press room and prepare for questions

Zbynek: Hey guys. Sorry for being a little late. Dionýz and I are now ready for some questions so shoot away

Interview Hey fellas. First question I have is for Mr. Zbynek. How do you feel the season went and what can you build off of for next year?

Zbynek: I feel like we grew a lot as a team and we gained a lot of skill. It’s too bad we’re losing Teddy and Zina. I feel us three really started to get some chemistry going and it’s a shame that that could be the last time I ever play with either of them.

Interview Yeah I have one for Dionýz. How optimistic are you about transitioning your game to North America?

Dionýz: I’m very excited, that’s for sure. Although I’m still getting used to the smaller ice surfaces and that’s impacted my positioning and skating quite a bit I’ve noticed in my first few ice-times. However, I feel I’m ready for a baptism by fire and I’m ready to start my hopefully successful career.

Interview While we’re talking about your career, how do you feel about your last season?

Dionýz: It was my first season in the Czechoslovak Premier League and it went quite well. I ended up tied for second in team scoring with twelve goals and fifteen assists in fifty games

Interview Here’s one for both of you: what made you guys want to have a joint-press conference? What’s the connection?

Dionýz: While we’ve probably played against each other before, we were teammates on the Czechoslovak U-18 team two years ago. We had fun putting on a show for the home crowd, didn’t we?

Zbynek: Yeah it was a great time playing with that team. I remember we were still getting a feel around for the lines and Dionýz and I were eventually put together and it was as if we had played together for years. The chemistry was instant. It was like we were controlling each other because we were always right where we wanted each other to be.

Interview One for Dionýz here: would you be more inclined to go to Colorado in the draft in order to be with Vratislav?

Dionýz: I know most players would try to dodge the answer of that question, but I’m willing to play for whoever drafts me, if that team has Vratislav than it’s all the better; I just want to play to the best of my abilities.

Interview Vratislav, a lot of people feel that your numbers were quite inflated last year because you were the 3rd string guy on one of the best lines in the SMJHL, how do you feel about that?

Vratislav: Well I can’t deny that I played with two great linemates. They taught me a lot and yeah, they made me look pretty good most of the time, but I feel like those numbers were justified. I feel like it takes skill to get 42 points, whether you’re playing on a great line or not.

Interview Hey Dion,

You recently participated in the prospect showcase, care you comment on your performance and what you think that did for your draft stock?

Dionýz: I was a little inconsistent, but we had a couple other offensive guys to help me get my goals and help the team when I wasn't scoring. Finn Jakobsen and Joakim Lindqvist were great teammates and friends and were a big reason I accomplished what I did: scoring eight goals, enough to win the goal-scoring title, not to mention win the prospect showcase in its entirety. I failed to show up in the playoffs, but the other guys really stepped up.

I felt my performance showed teams that I'm very capable at handling my fellow draft mates and transferring from European style to North American style and specifically showcased my scoring abilities. I won't lie though, I still do have quite a few bruises from the hitting aspect I'm a little unfamiliar with. It's also worthy to mention I did great in the face-off circle, despite having no clue what I'm doing!

Interview are hot dogs a sandwich?

Dionýz: Next question please Ninja

The floor is open for more questions
