Year End Predictions

Dude Love joined the league after the draft and signed with the 2 time defending champion Whalers. The Whalers had a lot of defenseman already so Love was placed on the bottom pairing and is not currently playing on the power play or the penalty kill but that may change in the future. Although Love is not seeing much ice time at 15% of the 5 on 5 time and no special teams he is taking this as a year to grow so let's take a look at some stat predictions.

GOALS: 1

Currently Dude Love has 0 goals through 19 games. Dude Love is more of a pass first player but that being said the Whalers just aren't scoring much as a team either. They are dead last with 39 goals for, the next lowest is 53 for Colorado. I don't expect many goals for Love but hopefully he can get the monkey off his back and score a goal.

ASSISTS: 11

He has 4 assists in 19 games but is not being used in an offensive role. As mentioned the Whalers as a team are struggling to put the puck in the net. Hopefully Love just continues developing chemistry with whatever teammates will be left in Vancouver next season.

PIM: 10

Love has showed strong discipline to stay out of the penalty box this year with only 1 minor penalty in 19 games. His limited ice time is helping in that regard but it's nice to see he isn't taking bad penalties as he adjusts to the SMJHL. I am not sure if he can keep this up all season but I expect to see him keep it low around 10 total for the year.

MINUTES PER GAME: 15.00

Love is currently averaging 14.24 minutes a game for the struggling Whalers. 19 games into a 50 game schedule we expect to see some line juggling in the future which might see Love get a small increase in time but we expect nothing major and expect to see him finish the season around 15 minutes a game. This should be good preparation for a sophomore season next year where it's expected he will see more minutes in an increased role.
