There's no doubt that the Toronto North Stars were the underdog heading into the S37 Challenge Cup Finals. Despite only being two years removed from winning the Challenge Cup, this was a team that many had pegged to miss the playoffs altogether, yet they found themselves losing in Game Seven on the finals. In the regular season, the Jets were the second best team in the league with 65 points, while the Stars had 54. While both teams had great offenses, the Jets really pull away on the defensive side. The Jets allowed 2.82 goals per game, good for fifth in the league, while the Stars were second last, allowing 3.38 goals per game. This discrepancy can be explained in part by the goaltenders. Lukas Berger had a .908 sv% while Toronto's Mark Harter had a .899 sv%. Despite the Jets' superiority in the regular season, the two teams played seven hard-fought games in the Challenge Cup Finals, with Winnipeg coming out on top.

I did consider leaving after RaIN took over and the tampering fiasco occurred. I wanted to win a cup more than anything, but after some thought, I realized Toronto still had a good shot at the cup, and it wouldn't mean as much if I won with another team.

Well, the best moment in my career would undoubtedly be winning the Challenge Cup in S35, and nothing else comes close. After that, this finals experience is up there along with reaching the Four Star Cup Finals in S20, and winning MVP in S31.

Our squad is definitely aging and getting hit hard by regression, but we still have one of the better teams in the tourney. With Andersson in net, and it being his last ever action before he retires, I think we have a good shot at Gold.
