Having been a long standing co-gm of the wolfpack, what is the one piece of advice you'd give players up and coming in the league looking for a management position?

Players seeking management opportunities need to be sure they're applying for positions that make sense. Start off getting experience in GMing outside of the SMJHL and SHL, first. You could try GMing in IIHF, World Juniors, a GM only league like PHL, or other smaller leagues like GOMHL. When you just send in applications for every head GM spot that opens up, it doesn’t really give off a good image.

How would you define your player's career, in a nut shell?

Toivo Kosonen has done well. Last season he had 49 points in 50 games, and that was a good feeling. I have been waiting for Kosonen to break out. Kosonen was drafted 18th overall, and I think he’s a top-10 player of his draft class now.

What potential changes would you like to see in the IIHF?

I’m not sure how interested people are in the IIHF. One way to make it more important is have it less often. I know that it’s good off-season filler, but it doesn’t seem special. There are other things you can do in the off-season as well, such as fantasy GM series where you get placed on unique teams with new people.
