How does it feel to be a Mammoth, vs any other teams you may have been on, how does it compare?

Being a Mammoth is just the best. First of all, the mammoth is just a bad ass creature - they are large, furry, and have tusks! Furthermore, we have tons of great guys on the team here in Colorado and we all seem to gel pretty well with eachother - I believe this is a big part of our early season success. As for playing for any other teams, I have only played with Colorado so far in my career. However I recently joined the Winnipeg Jets locker room after the SHL draft - the team has a different kind of vibe to it when compared to the mammoths, but I can't say enough good things about the people in the room.

Ok then, #2 a multi part question, What are some of the negatives of this league that worry you, and on the flip side, what are some of the positives, and how do you weigh each of them up to come to an overall positive/negative expirience of the league?

I think a bit of a negative I've found playing in the SMJHL is just the sheer length of the off-season. I feels like it's been ages since the last one ended. However, I will admit that this could be because we never made it to the playoffs last year, so the offseason did begin a few weeks earlier. A big positive for the league however are both the SHL and SMJHL entry drafts. Those by far have been my favourite moments on the site, including the lead up to them where you can avidly watch your draft stock plumment or soar, and are very exciting times. I'm also a big fan of how friendly everyone is on the team, and has a good time. I don't think I would enjoy my time on the site as much as I have if I was surrounded by negative people!

All in all, I'd say that my one negative that I listed is overpowered by the enjoyment I've gotten out of the drafts and camaraderie I've had with people on the team!

Ok, good! Now, what are your thoughts on the Mammoth's off season moves, and how do you think you will do in the SMJHL. Is there a potential call up in your immediate future this season, and if so how do you think the Mammoths will persevere if such a thing does occur?


This offseason the Mammoths did not make a ton of offseason moves, aside from a huge draft that will do wonders for the team this year and beyond (thanks in part to a huge trade deadline move acquiring all of PGF's draft picks). This season, I think I will look kind of mediocre on the stat sheet aside from hits and shot blocks, however I will be expected to play big minutes against top lines night in and night out - which will hopefully contribute to lots of wins! I can't see myself being called up to the Jets this season as they are probably the deepest team in the league, and I am low on the depth chart. However by some chance it did happen, I believe we have lots of rookie defensemen who could step up and replace my minutes admirably!

What is your favorite movie (If not a Hockey movie, also include one) Why is it Slap-Shot? and Why is my Ancestor Mr. Tuttle your favorite Character? :D


Well, I'd have to say my favourite hockey movie would be "GOON: Last of the Enforcers". I saw it on the plane during my trip to Halifax, and I was mildly entertained. Unfortunately I have never seen "Slap-Shot", however even without watching it I know Mr. Tuttle is the best character. This is because his name is really fun to say, and after checking out a picture of him he looks pretty badass!
