Season 40 Season 20 | Season 21 | Season 22 | Season 23 | Season 24 Season 25 | Season 26 | Season 27 | Season 28 | Season 29 Season 30 | Season 31 | Season 32 | Season 33 | Season 34 Season 35 | Season 36 | Season 37 | Season 38 | Season 39 </div> Welcome back everyone, to the seasonal top 100 players of today. So for those who do not know, this is the 21st edition of this article, awarding the top 100 players heading into the 40th season. I'd like to give a big thanks to the following users that helped me make this article possible. Experts:ArGarBarGar (Used a new rating system to rank all the players based on their last three seasons) Experts and Writers: ArGarBarGar (possibly others) I used a new system which graded over 130 players, narrowing the list down to 100 and ranking those elite 100 players of the SHL. I'd like to ask the media grader to wait for my PM before grading this article. 100. (S18) LW (Calgary Dragons) - Esa Anrikkanen || -17 Grade: 73 Past Seasons: S20-45, S21-48, S22-35, S23-6, S24-7, S25-34, S26-14, S27-27, S28-29, S29-12, S30-11, S31-5, S32-15, S33-50, S34-54, S35-35, S36-25, S37-41 S38-63 S39-83 Starting off the top-100 is Esa Anrikkanen of the Calgary Dragons, one of the greatest players in the history of the game, but certainly taking a major fall from grace with his lowest ranking so far, and probably the lowest potential ranking he could have ever had that he can remember. Anrikannen is the eldest skater currently in the league, the only S18 player remaining and still refusing to quit despite the drop in production and the increase in awareness for concussions. Anrikkanen scored 18 goals and 32 points, so it isn't like he is completely useless out there. However when we think of the man we think of the Parms and the 40+ or 50+ point seasons. Could this be Anrikkanen's last moment in the sun before he is forgotten and the parms grow moldy from being uneaten? Italian restaurants everywhere perish the thought. 99. (S34) C (New England Wolfpack) - Xander Green || New Entry Grade: 73.20 Past Seasons: None At 99 is new entry Xander Green, finally getting some recognition despite this season not quite as good as his last. Green scored 9 goals and 30 points, was -14, and the Wolfpack weren't exactly dominating the field of competition in S39. Well, Green has finally seen his due thanks to computers taking over, and his increase in physicality this year has not gone unnoticed. 98. (S35) RW (Los Angeles Panthers) - Sophia Bennett || New Entry Grade: 73.40 Past Seasons: None At 98 is another new entry on the list, Sophia Bennett of the Los Angeles Panthers. Bennett hasn't had a terrible start to her career, and continued to build on it with 17 goals and 34 points. Not too shabby all things considered. The Panthers needed just about everything they could get from their younger players considering they were two points from being eliminated from playoff contention in the first place. Bennett has even improved on her defensive skills which will be imperative if the Panthers want to contend for the Cup again. 97. (S29) C (Toronto North Stars) - Casper Jakobssen || New Entry Grade: 73.70 Past Seasons: None The third new entry in a row comes from the great city of Toronto, where Casper Jakobssen enters the fray with his 15 goals and 30 points. Like Green, he had an even better season the year prior where he scored 37 points, but the computers are more aware of the top players than biased humans are. Jakobssen even got back to his top tier PK ways where he played 100+ minutes in that category. Also, he is entering his second season of regression and this is his first moment in the sun. Hope he doesn't fall right back off like others have in recent years. 96. (S31) D (Manhattan Rage) - Kornel Kašpárek || -32 Grade: 74.20 Past Seasons: S38-92 S39-64 At 96 is Blizzard defender Kornel Kašpárek, who was looking like a steady riser on the list and had a major setback. Kašpárek scored 3 goals (for the second straight season) and 26 points, not quite up to his career high of 31 back in S36 with the Steelhawks. He was somewhat of a late bloomer, but has started to get a bit of consistency, even though he isn't exactly a superstar either way. 95. (S32) D (Buffalo Stampede) - Charles Walker || -14 Grade: 74.60 Past Seasons: S39-81 At 95 is Stampede defender Charlse Walker, falling back a bit after an unfortunate fall from grace where he scored 5 goals and 24 points in his fifth season with the Stampede. Walker did seem to get a better hang of his defensive abilities where he got back to an even player (sort of). He hasn't improved on his physical formidability, but he still has a couple more seasons before he becomes an old fart like the rest of the regression players. 94. (S27) RW (Los Angeles Panthers) - Jaxson Reynolds || -9 Grade: 74.70 Past Seasons: S34-61, S35-34, S36-28, S37-66 S38-50 S39-85 At 94 is Jaxson Reynolds, who continues to fall back in the rankings after his top-30 finish in S36 made it appear that he was going to be the next big thing. Unfortunately regression has really taken its toll on the winger, and Reynolds just has not been able to figure out how to adapt to the fact he is old and wrinkly, now. Reynolds scored 11 goals and 34 points, which is actually an improvement from his previous season, but don't tell the computer that. Beep. 93. (S29) C (Los Angeles Panthers) - Nicolas Winter || -9 Grade: 74.80 Past Seasons: S33-73, S36-91, S37-72 S38-51 S39-84 Another player who fell back is Nicolas Winter of the Los Angeles Panthers, a player who actually hasn't done half as bad as some say he has (basically the Buffalo media which is still upset that he isn't on the team dropping dimes on the opposing goaltenders, assuming I used that term correctly). Winter scored 11 goals and 32 points, which isn't entirely great but certainly not awful considering that was his first season of regression and you see players really fall in their production once father time says it is time to go to bed. 92. (S33) RW (Winnipeg Jets) - Crossfit Jesus || -2 Grade: 74.90 Past Seasons: S39-90 Clearly regular Jesus needs to teach his crossfit heir something about preservering through time, as Crossfit Jesus is looking like he plans to be crucified early. Jesus scored 14 goals and 32 points, which is surprisingly consistent through his early career so far, but should we consider that a Jesus trait or more that he is not the miracle worker we expected? Of course none of what I am saying is making any sense, but then again I am expounding on the career of a player who is named Jesus and does Crossfit, nobody should really be all that surprised. 91. (S25) RW (Buffalo Stampede) - Ivan Koroviev || Returning Entry Grade: 75 Past Seasons: S31-70, S32-64, S33-58, S34-32, S35-65, S36-45, S37-32 S38-97 Ivan Koroviev enters the list at 91, back in action after making a move to a new team and a new set of systems. Clearly it has helped veteran Koroviev get back into the swing of things were he scored 17 goals and 34 points, the best he has done since he was acquired by the Chiefs back in S36. Koroviev didn't exactly save Buffalo from their problematic roster, but he is proving that regression isn't about to end his career just yet. 90. (S31) G (Seattle Riot) - Ekaterina Rudnikova || -10 Grade: 75.20 Past Seasons: S39-80 Finishing the 90s is Ekaterina Rudnikova, the first goaltender on our list and for good reason. Rudnikova had a unique season, starting only 25 games (possibly making way for a new entry in the Riot saga), and going 8-15-2. I am not even going to talk about Rudnikova's save percentage and goals against averages, because I am just going to assume they are terrible. If not, don't sue me for libel. I'm just a pundit, and it is the computer's fault this goaltender is so low on the list in the first place. 89. (S25) C (Winnipeg Jets) - Luke Fleming || -59 Grade: 75.30 Past Seasons: S29-100, S30-79, S31-37, S32-33, S33-25, S34-12, S35-3, S36-4, S37-10 S38-11 S39-30 Dropping in the list is Luke Fleming of the Winnipeg Jets, dropping in points the last three seasons and this time crashing down to a poor 27 points, the lowest point totals he has ended with since he started out in S28, his sophomore season. His goal scoring has even dropped, scoring only 13 points on the season, and overall hasn't done much to make up for the lack of offense. 88. (S22) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Big Manious || -71 Grade: 75.60 Past Seasons: S27-42, S28-41, S29-45, S30-32, S31-22, S32-68, S33-41, S34-11, S35-32, S36-39, S37-31 S38-21 S39-17 Talk about a fall from grace, Big Manious drops 71 spots to enter the list at 88, scoring 4 goals and only 16 points. What exactly happened, because it is not often a player who scores 40+ points is reduced to nothing the following season. Did he just stop caring? Did the Jets misuse him? Either way, the fact he is even on the list at this point is a testament to how much past production can keep you afloat here. 87. (S22) D (Manhattan Rage) - Bubba Nuck || -67 Grade: 75.70 Past Seasons: S24-98, S26-59, S28-51, S29-74, S30-63, S31-3, S32-40, S33-69, S34-73, S35-14, S36-10, S37-4 S38-14 S39-20 Another defender with a big drop is Bubba Nuck at 87, scoring 5 goals and 25 points, playing fewer than 18 minutes a night, and even losing the physical edge he had in previous seasons. Nuck enjoyed a run of 6 straight seasons without a sub-30 point performance, but some times the inconsistencies stick with you even when you think they are behind you. 86. (S36) LW (New England Wolfpack) - Oisin Fletcher || New Entry Grade: 75.90 Past Seasons: None New entry on the list is Oisin Fletcher, making a big name for himself scoring 13 goals and 37 points at wing, his second season and already demonstrating he may have some real chops to be a top tier talent in the league. His minutes played is going up, the number of hits is going up, and he is getting special teams consideration which means he could be a major two-way threat. 85. (S21) RW (Texas Renegades) - Theo Kane || -26 Grade: 76 Past Seasons: S23-75, S24-77, S25-56, S26-76, S27-57, S28-20, S29-32, S30-1, S31-13, S32-10, S33-12, S34-1, S35-10, S36-12, S37-18 S38-35 S39-59 At 85 is Theo Kane, now playing for the Renegades as a veteran who doesn't appear to know where to go at this point in his career. One of the greatest wingers of the S20s, has actually kept pace as a major contributor for the majority of his career, and only recently has seen his numbers dwindle. Kane scored 17 goals and 30 points in S39, and while that isn't entirely great for someone who broke the 60 point threshold (when it didn't happen as often as it does now), it is pretty decent all things considered. 84. (S33) D (Minnesota Chiefs) - Eero Hämäläinen || +16 Grade: 76.50 Past Seasons: S38-99 S39-100 At 84 is Eero Eero Hämäläinen, breaking out of the 90s and in the elite 80s (or some name that is clever). Eero Hämäläinen scored 5 goals and 24 points, which isn't exactly what the Chiefs were expecting from him, but production is production, and they would probably prefer a consistent producer than someone who sometimes shows up and then sometimes doesn't. Unfortunately it is getting close to regression time, and Hämäläinen hasn't exactly shown a ton of elite upside yet, so it may never happen in his career. 83. (S36) D (Calgary Dragons) - Roman Augustus || New Entry Grade: 76.70 Past Seasons: None New entry Roman Augustus enters the list at 83, with a big breakout season which saw him score 9 goals and 36 points, something you don't see a lot from a defender in only his second season. He even registered 61 hits and scored 12 power play points, which is quite incredible. The Dragons may have found yet another diamond in the rough in this player, but we are going to need more than one season of good production before we assume this is the case. 82. (S26) RW (Buffalo Stampede) - Don Pellegrino || +15 Grade: 76.80 Past Seasons: S33-87, S34-39, S35-51, S36-68, S37-25 S38-70 S39-97 At 82 is Don Pellegrino, with a new team in the Stampede and the last of the Pellegrino brothers to remain (as we have mentioned before). Don Pellegrino has shown his chops yet again, scoring 16 goals and 34 points, the 9th season in a row with 30+ points, and that isn't anything to scoff at when you don't always get put in the best places to succeed. 81. (S31) D (Buffalo Stampede) - Brynjar Tusk || -12 Grade: 76.90 Past Seasons: , S37-75 S38-95 S39-69 At 81 is Brynjar Tusk, dropping a bit after it looked like he was poised to reach the top-50. Tusk has been relegated to the "not too bad but very forgettable" category of players, with his second straight 20+ point season but unable to break the 40 point plateau yet in his career. Not uncommon as a defender, at least. Tusk scored 2 goals and 25 points with the Stampede, but the -20 plus minus was not something you think of as terribly impressive. 80. (S23) D (Calgary Dragons) - Michael Boychuk || -9 Grade: 77.30 Past Seasons: S28-97, S29-67, S30-53, S31-41, S32-25, S33-67, S34-57, S35-50, S36-50, S37-59 S38-45 S39-71 At 80 is Dragons defender Michael Boychuk, another player to drop a bit on the list but not for a lack of trying. Boychuk actually had a decent season with the Dragons in S39, scoring 4 goals and 32 points, with a very impressive +21 plus minus and even scoring 11 power play points. Other than that, he wasn't even on the radar, but nothing wrong with being good in some ways, especially when you are way into regression like he is. 79. (S31) D (Los Angeles Panthers) - Matthew Leetch || +15 Grade: 77.30 Past Seasons: S39-94 At 79 is Panthers defender Matthew Leetch, jumping up 15 spots with a career best season where he scored 8 goals and 34 points, though the defensive prowess left a little to be desired as he was a -10 on the season. He did get back into the physical game, but he appeared to be all over the place as far as coverage and positioning, which hurt him in the rankings. 78. (S31) RW (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Brennan Kennedy || -16 Grade: 77.50 Past Seasons: S35-78, S37-888 S38-49 S39-62 Coming in at 78 is Bennand Kennedy of the Steelhawks, the winger who has been getting into his groove as of late despite dropping on the list. Kennedy scored 11 goals and 35 points, the 7th 30+ point season in a row and one of the most consistent careers in his draft class as far as production. He even got back into the swing of things with 106 hits, and reduced the number of times he went into the box, as well as improving his defensive abilities. 77. (S35) D (West Kendall Platoon) - Finn Krüger || +5 Grade: 77.90 Past Seasons: S39-82 At 77 is Platoon defender Finn Krüger, jumping a few spots and getting into the 30+ point range with his season production, scoring 5 goals as well. Krüger is one of the new up and coming defenders looking to make a place in the league, which may be difficult considering the amount of high profile defensemen that are currently in the league going into S40. Youth will be a factor, and his ability to adapt his game will tell the difference between him becoming a premier player or just a pretty good one. 76. (S33) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Isaac Cormier-Hale || New Entry Grade: 77.90 Past Seasons: None At 76 is new entry Isaac Cormier-Hale, a Winnipeg Jet with a lot of potential despite an extended stay in the SMJHL and a lot of pundits not thinking he has what it takes to make it into the SHL at all. However, Cormier-Hale is proving all the doubters wrong with a 5 goal, 40 point season, and with plenty of room to grow. He will certainly need to keep building on that if he wants to build up his resume and become a top-tier defenseman in this league. 75. (S26) LW (New England Wolfpack) - Mainio Makinen || -12 Grade: 78.30 Past Seasons: S31-72, S32-44, S33-66, S34-48, S35-7, S36-14, S37-65 S38-82 S39-63 At 75 is Mainio Makinen of the New England Wolfpack, unable to recapture his former glory (and as a S26 player how would you expect him to?) and dropping on the list again. Makinen scored 13 goals and 33 points, which is almost a carbon copy of the season he had in S37, although his defensive game has certainly improved as he has gotten wiser. 74. (S33) RW (Minnesota Chiefs) - Halfdan Thorstein || +2 Grade: 78.50 Past Seasons: , S37-83 S38-81 S39-76 At 74 is Chiefs winger Halfdan Thorstein, making another small but noticed jump in the rankings despite the drop in production. Thorstein scored 16 goals and 33 points, a marked difference from the 23 goals and 45 points he scored with the cup winners, and just about everything about his season was a bit underwhelming in comparison. It seems the previous rankings may not have been as kind to the young player as he deserved. 73. (S31) C (San Francisco Pride) - Isaac Kaiser || +4 Grade: 78.80 Past Seasons: S39-77 At 73 is Pride center Isaac Kaiser, making a decent name for himself now that he has finally broken the list (and perhaps put the atrocious seasons to start his career behind him). Kaiser scored 13 goals and 36 points, and while he continues to be a minus player, he still finds ways to contribute. His 128 hits was again a demonstration of his physical play, although when you see that many hits from a player with such a low plus minus, you wonder if the two are related. 72. (S23) D (Texas Renegades) - Vladimir Lidstrom || Returning Entry Grade: 78.90 Past Seasons: S27-94, S28-82, S29-62, S30-59, S31-9, S32-7, S33-10, S34-23, S35-37, S36-69 Back on the list is Vladimir Lidstrom, still trucking and looking like he is back in the game despite many thinking to the contrary. Lidstrom scored 10 goals and 355 points, the first time he has scored over 30 points since S34, which is a long time when you think of this league. Lidstrom was even a career best +17 on the season, which means it is possible Lidstrom has figured out what he needs to do to stay relevant in this league. 71. (S22) G (Toronto North Stars) - Mark Harter || +15 Grade: 79 Past Seasons: S24-101, S25-78, S26-89, S27-69, S28-22, S29-25, S30-30, S31-44, S32-17, S33-55, S34-53, S35-23, S36-58, S37-70 S38-87 S39-86 At 71 is Mark Harter, the goaltender who just refuses to quit. Harter hasn't quite gotten his game together as of late, despite many thinking he would be a long-time elite goaltender and even break the all-time wins record. Harter went 16-19-3, and despite his improvement as far as goals against were concerned, didn't exactly matter much considering his team is in the middle of a rebuilding season. And with the number of starts dwindling, this may be the last of Harter as a major starter in this league. 70. (S32) D (Minnesota Chiefs) - Noctis Caelum || -33 Grade: 79.20 Past Seasons: S37-97 S38-79 S39-37 Noctis Caelum drops on the list at 70, unable to quite get back to the S38 coming out party where he scored 12 goals and 49 points. The bout of inconsistency could be a major mark on this man's career, especially since this isn't the first time we have seen his numbers go back and forth. Caelum has a lot of improvements to make in production and in the intangible aspects of the game if he wants to get back into the top-50, because just relying on offensive gifts will not cut it. 69. (S33) LW (West Kendall Platoon) - John Langabeer || New Entry Grade: 79.20 Past Seasons: None At 69 is John Langabeer, a new entry on the list due to getting back to his old tricks (having two seasons with 30+ points already) and scoring 20 goals and 42 points. Langabeer continued to improve with his physical tools as well, making him a bigger threat each and every season. It is possible he deserved to be on this list in previous seasons, but he certainly earned it this season. 68. (S30) C (Los Angeles Panthers) - Jean-Luc Reflieux || -7 Grade: 80.20 Past Seasons: S34-96, S35-97, S36-99, S37-43 S38-73 S39-61 Falling back is Jean-Luc Reflieux, who has had a rocky back and forth career so far, albeit with some pretty good production mixed in. Reflieux scored 15 goals and 35 points, not matching his 46 point season a year ago and failing to come close to his 50 point campaign two seasons prior to that. However, this season his physicality has ramped up, and with these being his prime years we could see that lead to improved production for S40. 67. (S28) G (New England Wolfpack) - Mikke Laukkanen || -18 Grade: 80.40 Past Seasons: S32-61, S33-30, S34-17, S35-25, S36-27, S37-34 S38-75 S39-49 At 67 is Mikke Laukkanen, a goaltender who doesn't get a whole lot of press but continues to do their thing each season. Laukkanen went 23-16-4, and seemed to do just okay in S39, not really terrible but not all that great, either. Considering he is continuing into regression, it is unknown exactly how he will do for the Wolfpack going forward, especially when the team is looking to finish up their rebuild and become a contender again. 66. (S30) C (West Kendall Platoon) - Jon Ross || +33 Grade: 80.40 Past Seasons: S33-89, S34-84, S35-58, S36-63, S37-92 S38-98 S39-99 Jon Ross jumps up on the list at 66, looking like he might actually crack the top-50 this time. Ross scored 17 goals and 42 points, an impressive run and close to his career high back in S34 with the Steelhawks. Ross even earned a career high in hits with 87, and tied his career high in powerplay points with 13. However, with regression hitting and his point production only good but not great, Ross will need to figure things out if he wants to crack the top-50. 65. (S31) RW (San Francisco Pride) - Jacob Renninger || +28 Grade: 81.40 Past Seasons: S39-93 At 65 is Jacob Renninger, a late bloomer who is looking to hit his stride with his 12 goals and 40 points. Unfortunately, being on a Pride team that isn't exactly sure of what direction they want to head in, was -10 on the year, his second minus season in a row, and without any other defensive tools could be mired in this position if he doesn't figure things out. 64. (S30) D (San Francisco Pride) - Victor Lindstrom || +24 Grade: 82.20 Past Seasons: S39-88 Victor Lindstrom enters the list at 64, just in time for regression to ruin his day. Lindstrom didn't score as many points as he did in S38, and his -26 was among the worst in the league, but Lindstrom demonstrated that he individually was doing the little things right. As mentioned before the Pride have had some issues with team defense and consistency, and Lindstrom has been one of the few players actually putting up some defensive abilities out there. 63. (S28) D (New England Wolfpack) - Mia Landvik || -23 Grade: 82.40 Past Seasons: S35-56, S36-60, S38-65 S39-40 At 63 is Mia Landvik of the Wolfpack, a defender who started to get a little profile early in her career, but has struggled to gain that notoriety again. Landvik scored 9 goals and 35 points, similar to last season, but her major claim to fame in recent seasons is her propensity to lay the body. She registered a career high 212 hits, something nobody expected from someone like Landvik, and despite her regression still contributes to her team. 62. (S29) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Harry Hans || -11 Grade: 82.4 Past Seasons: S33-42, S34-45, S35-24, S36-16, S37-33 S38-72 S39-51 At 62 is Harry Hans, now a Blizzard winger and riding the wave of problems that Edmonton has had to face recently. Hans scored 19 goals and 35 points, well below the previous season (and most of his career with the Rage), all this despite a high number of shots on net. It seems coaches are worried about Hans's play offensively due to regression, as he has seen reduced minutes of late on the powerplay, hurting his production. 61. (S25) C (Minnesota Chiefs) - Jonathan Lundberg || -34 Grade: 82.50 Past Seasons: 30-82, S31-94, S32-65, S33-59, S34-49, S35-27, S36-30, S37-58 S38-36 S39-27 At 61 is Jonathan Lundberg of the Minnesota Chiefs, joining his 6th team since coming up to the SHL in S28. Despite his advanced age compared to most of his peers, Lundberg has been able to be a solid contributor, scoring 14 goals and 39 points, as well as registering 203 shots and 201 hits, which is quite the threat to opposing defenders even if he has had issues putting the puck in the net himself. Lundberg's presence was a major factor in the Chiefs winning their first cup since S12, and despite being deep into regression could keep that up. 60. (S31) D (New England Wolfpack) - Toivo Kosonen || -14 Grade: 82.80 Past Seasons: S36-76, S37-76 S38-84 S39-46 At 60 is Toivo Kosonen, dropping back in the list a bit and out of the top-50 with his 6 goals and 30 points. 30 Points is nothing to sneeze at for a defenseman, and Kosonen has had 6 straight seasons with that amount, however when you want to be a top-50 player or better, you have to bring more to the table, and Kosonen has been unable to do that so far in his career. 59. (S32) C (Edmonton Blizzard) - Teodors Cukurs || -3 Grade: 82.80 Past Seasons: S39-56 At 59 is Teodors Cukurs, who couldn't quite make it three straight seasons with 46 points, scoring 16 goals and only 38 points in S39. The defensive issues continue to plague the center, once again finishing with a minus rating (only his rookie season featuring a plus rating), and his physical play remaining non-existent. 58. (S24) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Damien Wert || -10 Grade: 82.90 Past Seasons: S28-99, S30-98, S32-96, S33-24, S34-35, S35-84, S36-41, S37-27, S38-30, S39-48 At 58 is Damien Wert, former Pride member and looking to get back to his 50+ point ways that he had back in Toronto. Scoring 17 goals and 40 points, he is one of the least discussed good players in the league, perhaps a big reason being that other than the accumulation of points he doesn't do all that much else. And going into regression it is going to be even more difficult to keep those offensive totals steady. 57. (S31) G (Manhattan Rage) - Jason Aittokallio || -29 Grade: 83 Past Seasons: S35-99, S36-94, S37-54, S38-48, S39-28 At 57 is Jason Aittokallio, taking a massive drop along with the Rage team, going only 18-25-1, finishing with only a decent .907 save percentage and a poor 3.20 goals against average. He clearly did not have the defensive support of his team with those numbers, but he wasn't exactly a brick wall in net, either. 56. (S35) LW (Calgary Dragons) - Mike Izzy || New Entry Grade: 83.30 Past Seasons: None New entry Mike Izzy hits our list at number 56, scoring 24 goals and 48 points on the year, with a very quick progression three years into the league. Izzy hasn't gotten a lot of press as one of the top prospects, but right now he is showing the world that he may not be the kind of player you sleep on anymore. Izzy fit right in with the Dragons in S39, finishing with a +23 and registering 209 hits, looking like he wants to take over once Randleman (eventually) stops being effective. 55. (S27) LW (Los Angeles Panthers) - Maximillian Wächter || -8 Grade: 83.50 Past Seasons: S32-98, S33-79, S34-56, S35-22, S36-13, S37-16, S38-39, S39-47 At 55 is Maximillian Wächter, falling on the list despite a solid offensive season by him, back into the 40 point range with 18 goals and 43 points. He even kept up his physical play with 220 hits, although he was not nearly as effective on the powerplay as previous seasons. 54. (S32) D (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Samee Iqbal || +11 Grade: 83.50 Past Seasons: S35-79, S37-85, S39-65 At 54 is Samee Iqbal, leaving the Riot for greener pastures and looking to continue his movement up in the rankings. Iqbal scored 6 goals and 36 points, not quite as good as the season previous but about par for the course with his time in Seattle. He didn't provide the team much else other than that, so it is possible that the Riot aren't going to miss him as much as he thinks. 53. (S26) D (Edmonton Blizzard) - Mattias Holmberg || +39 Grade: 83.60 Past Seasons: S33-80, S34-96, S35-92, S38-90, S39-92 At 53 is Blizzard defenseman Mattias Holmberg, with his best season since S31 (almost 10 seasons ago) where he scored 11 goals and 40 points. Holmberg has been jumping around lately, joining the 8th team in his 12 year career, but after all this time has finally gotten out of the low section of our list. However with him deep into regression there is no guarantee he will stay out of there for very long. 52. (S30) C (Texas Renegades) - Steven Stamkos Jr. || +23 Grade: 83.80 Past Seasons: S33-92, S34-29, S35-71, S37-63, S38-76, S39-75 At 52 is Steven Stamkos Jr., making the most out of his time with the Texas Renegades, scoring 20 goals and 45 points, despite being a -3 and the Renegades having some struggles as a team last season. Stamkos Jr. himself has shown some major strides with his new team, however, and could fight right through regression and get back to the best seasons of his career with the Edmonton Blizzard. 51. (S32) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Kyle Kylrad || -7 Grade: 83.90 Past Seasons: S35-100, S36-75, S37-20, S38-34, S39-44 At 51 is Winnipeg Jets winger Kyle Kylrad, enjoying his fourth straight 40+ point season. However, this season was the low end of that, scoring 22 goals and only 40 points. Not too shabby, still, and his physical game still remains on point even if he isn't considered the baddest guy on the ice at all times. 50. (S24) D (New England Wolfpack) - Jack Burton || +28 Grade: 84.20 Past Seasons: S28-102, S29-79, S30-92, S32-88, S33-88, S34-55, S35-46, S36-67, S37-89, S38-77, S39-78 At 50 is Jack Burton, a guy you don't hear about very often, but still has his moments where he is considered one of the better players at his position. Burton scored 17 goals and 34 points, the 7th straight season where he scored at least 30 points, and that kind of consistency has been appreciated by the teams that he has played for recently. However he has had trouble sticking to one team, which has reduced his value somewhat. 49. (S31) LW (West Kendall Platoon) - Alex Light || +4 Grade: 84.50 Past Seasons: , S37-74, S38-80, S39-53 At 49 is Platoon winger Alex Light, entering S40 with the third 40+ point season in the last four years, with two 40+ point seasons in a row. Light scored 17 goals and 43 points, close to the same production he had the previous season, and could even get better right before he hits regression. 48. (S35) RW (Calgary Dragons) - Louie Garrett || New Entry Grade: 84.50 Past Seasons: None At 48 is Louie Garrett of the Dragons, moving on to a new team after three seasons with Seattle, where he scored 54 goals and 111 points in 150 games with the team. S39 saw him score a career high 26 goals and 49 points, register 221 shots, and play the most minutes of his career, which could mean he is about to take that major step into the elite category. 47. (S31) G (San Francisco Pride) - Jeff Kirkstone || -34 Grade: 84.70 Past Seasons: S35-57, S36-53, S37-69, S38-31, S39-13 At 47 is goaltender Jeff Kirkstone of the Pride, close to the top-10 for the S39 list but falling back to the 40s after a season where he went 21-20-3, not a great response to the amazing season he had in S38 where he went 30-9-3 and was one of the top goaltenders in the league. 46. (S25) RW (Minnesota Chiefs) - Lord Pretty Flacko || -41 Grade: 85 Past Seasons: S30-70, S31-11, S32-1, S33-1, S34-6, S35-2, S36-1, S37-1, S38-2, S39-5 At 46 is veteran Lord Pretty Flacko, one of the most consistent players in recent memory even though his production is starting to falter in his advanced age. Flacko scored 17 goals and 42 points, the 10th season in a row with at least 40 points. Unfortunately his physical play has declined, his numbers have taken a steady down turn since his historic 70 point season in S36, and his age isn't going to make it easy to keep this type of consistent production going. 45. (S27) RW (New England Wolfpack) - Raven Silverwing || -21 Grade: 85.10 Past Seasons: S33-52, S34-37, S35-18, S36-33, S37-24, S38-37, S39-24 At 45 is Wolfpack winger Raven Silverwing, another player who was not quite able to live up to a previous season which surpassed all the ones before it. Silverwing scored 18 goals and 38 points, which isn't too bad for a winger in the middle of regression, but after his 24 goals and 53 points the previous year, and the -14 that he had this year, that is a disappointment. 44. (S32) RW (West Kendall Platoon) - Leafer Rielly || +51 Grade: 85.40 Past Seasons: S39-95 At 44 is Platoon winger Leafer Rielly, making a big jump into the top 50 as he continues to elevate his game to new heights. Rielly scored 15 goals and 46 points in S39, all the while becoming a better two-way winger and increasing his strength over the offseaosn, making him a threat to continue this production and possibly earn his first ever 50 point season. 43. (S20) RW (San Francisco Pride) - Jed Lloren || +11 Grade: 85.50 Past Seasons: S22-83, S23-68, S24-62, S25-19, S26-21, S27-68, S28-59, S29-46, S30-51, S31-65, S32-34, S33-16, S34-50, S35-75, S36-73, S37-26, S38-58, S39-54 At 43 is Jed Lloren of the Pride, one of only a small few S20 players remaining. Lloren is one of those players who never quite was considered one of "those guys" in terms of the elite game changers, but his production has been about as consistent as ever. Lloren scored 20 goals and 45 points, continuing a trend of 5 seasons with at least 40 points, and is doing so while facing top competition, something people were not expecting from the veteran. 42. (S35) G (Buffalo Stampede) - Jordin Fourfour Jr. || New Entry Grade: 86 Past Seasons: None At 42 is new entry Jording FourFour Jr., who in his second season enters the list despite playing on a team that has had major struggles trying to get him into the fold and provide a winning team in front of him. FourFour Jr. went 15-22-6, but his .914 save percentage was tied for third among goaltenders, all this while facing a ton of shots. 41. (S25) D (New England Wolfpack) - Jasper Clayton || -27 Grade: 86.30 Past Seasons: S29-99, S30-84, S31-66, S32-22, S33-8, S34-19, S35-8, S36-8, S37-12, S38-25, S39-14 At 41 is Jasper Clayton of the Wolfpack, a defenseman who has always put his play into the playoffs and the playoff resume speaks for itself. Clayton scored 8 goals and 33 points, an unfortunate response to winning the Stevens in S38, but for a defender who is also well into regression, the fact he won a Stevens at all in these recent years is saying something. 40. (S31) LW (Buffalo Stampede) - Eduard Selich || -7 Grade: 86.30 Past Seasons: S33-84, S34-36, S35-12, S36-38, S37-52, S38-53, S39-33 At 40 is Stampede winger Eduard Selich, a player who up until recently was one of the few bright spots in Buffalo, scoring 40+ goals in three straight seasons with a 55 point season to cap it all off. S39 was a different story, and while Selich scored a decent 18 goals, he only finished with 39 points, just shy of a fourth straight 40+ point season and on a team that had its fair share of problematic issues. 39. (S26) D (Edmonton Blizzard) - Wyatt Wøllker || -28 Grade: 86.50 Past Seasons: S29 -94, S30-100, S31-50, S32-66, S33-34, S34-15, S35-6, S36-3, S37-7, S38-10, S39-11 At 39 is Blizzard defenseman Wyatt Wøllker, scoring 11 goals and 36 points for his new team, the Edmonton Blizzard. His time with Edmonton hasn't quite been up to the level it was in Manhattan, though he is still maintaining his status as a very consistent and productive defenseman. Something new is his physical play has amped up with his new team, something nobody was expecting. 38. (S30) LW (San Francisco Pride) - Kelly Rivet || -9 Grade: 86.60 Past Seasons: S36-86, S38-41, S39-29 Kelly Rivet comes in at 38, the left winger of San Francisco who continued his solid offensive run with 11 goals and 43 points, but defensively had some struggles, ending the season with a -14 and spending many games looking to make the big hits rather than playing the right positions. His 190 hits were a career high, however, and if he can harness that physicality a little better, he could see even better offensive numbers. 37. (S35) C (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Robert Phelps || +29 Grade: 86.70 Past Seasons: S39-66 At 37 is Robert Phelps, Steelhawks center making moves up in the rankings with his career starting with a major bang, something we rarely see. Phelps has scored 40 points in every season of his career, scoring 18 goals and 45 points in S39, a career high, with a +16 and a solid performance on the power play. 36. (S30) D (Edmonton Blizzard) - Viatcheslav Orlov || -5 Grade: 87 Past Seasons: S37-90, S38-47, S39-31 At 36 is Viatcheslav Orlov, dropping back a bit on the list after a couple of seasons with a steady performance. Orlov scored 9 goals and 41 points with his new team in the Blizzard, a career best, although his defensive play and physicality wasn't up to the same snuff that we have seen from him in previous seasons. 35. (S31) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Pietra Volkova || +6 Grade: 87.40 Past Seasons: S36-93, S37-98, S38-85, S39-41 At 35 Pietra Volkova of the Jets, who didn't have the same offensive season as S38, scoring 22 goals and 41 points, but remained very consistent in every other facet of the game and was a major factor in the team's success when they had it in S39. Volkova is also looking to do more of the same in the upcoming seasons even with regression coming up very soon. 34. (S32) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Cory Knouse || +36 Grade: 87.70 Past Seasons: S37-100, S38-96, S39-70 At 34 is Cory Knouse of the Blizzard, who had the best season of his career with his new team, scoring a career high 21 goals and 48 points, as well as being the most dominating physical presence that we have seen from him in which we saw him register 153 hits on the season. It appears that his prime years are right on the horizon, assuming he can stay healthy and keep his head in the game. 33. (S25) C (Edmonton Blizzard) - Nikolaus Scholz || -10 Grade: 87.80 Past Seasons: S31-69, S32-47, S33-17, S34-28, S35-30, S36-24, S37-39, S38-13, S39-23 At 33 is Blizzard center Nikolaus Scholz, a player who has been under the radar for a number of years but despite regressing continues his run of 40+ point seasons with 8, very impressive despite not getting a lot of press. Scholz scored 15 goals and 43 points, and while his defensive play suffered on a team that on the whole was defensively insufficient, he is still a productive player. 32. (S31) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Corey Bearss || -30 Grade: 88 Past Seasons: S37-55, S38-9, S39-2 At 32 is Corey Bearss, who failed to keep his run in the top-10 going, dropping back 30 spots with a 15 goal, 39 point season, unable to keep up with some of the new young talent in the league. Bearss is looking like he is also having trouble getting back to the days when he could barrel through players, which could be an extension of the team or just him regressing earlier than expected. 31. (S32) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Max Weber || -22 Grade: 88.10 Past Seasons: S36-74, S37-29, S38-12, S39-9 Another player falling out of the top 10 is Max Weber, another Jet. Weber comes in at 31 with his 11 goals and 46 points, which is still an impressive stat line (especially for a defender) and worthy of a top-50 player, and his two-way game has improved a bit, making him a pretty decent threat on both ends of the ice. He isn't necessarily pushing himself into the super elite category, but he is certainly making a name for himself as a valuable and important core piece for the Jets. 30. (S34) LW (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Noro Wozy || +28 Grade: 88.40 Past Seasons: S37-88, S38-68, S39-58 At 30 is Steelhawks winger Noro Wozy, jumping into the list after a 21 goal, 48 point season, building on his previous three seasons where he scored 40+ points in each. He improved his defensive game with a +19 and being used in every situation, making him one of the big up and comers who could be a threat to be the next regular top-10 player (if he plays his cards right). 29. (S34) LW (Toronto North Stars) - Elias Lindstrom || New Entry Grade: 88.80 Past Seasons: None At 29 is North Stars Winger Elias Lindstrom, a new entry on the list and doing so with reckless abandon as he scored 21 goals and 54 points, one of the best seasons we have seen from a newcomer in the history of this list. Lindstrom is even getting in on the physical play early in his career, and with room to grow can get even better in all aspects of the game. 28. (S31) C (Winnipeg Jets) - Jasson Visser || -25 Grade: 89 Past Seasons: S36-49, S37-6, S38-4, S39-3 At 28 is Jason Visser of the Jets, the center who had a good run in the top-10 for three seasons, but is on the outside looking in once again as he scored a mere 23 goals and 45 points. Still incredibly good and something to be proud of, but when you score 50, 60, or 70 points in a season (or all of the above) you are going to have higher expectations than other players. Especially when you are also known for the physical stuff but have been getting worse in that regard. 27. (S31) G (Minnesota Chiefs) - Olli O'Koivu || +62 Grade: 89 Past Seasons: S38-86, S39-89 At 27 is Olli O'Koivu of the Minnesota Chiefs, Challenge Cup Winner and up and coming top-tier goaltender who quickly took up the mantle in Minnesota and is impressing with every single season he plays. O'Koivu went 26-14-5 in S39, with a .912 save percentage (5th among goaltenders) and even registering 5 shutouts on the season, something Minnesota has not seen for a long time. 26. (S31) RW (Calgary Dragons) - Joe Kurczewski || -8 Grade: 89.20 Past Seasons: S37-44, S38-18, S39-18 At 26 is Joe Kurczewski of the Dragons, falling out of the top-20 (but not too far from it), scoring 17 goals and 47 points, registering 210 shots (something that is typical with the forward), and 147 hits (a little lower than we have seen of him in previous seasons. Kurczewski is older than most people think, but has already fleshed out a pretty solid career for himself, demonstrating the scouting staff in Calgary can find some of the best players in the league year in and year out. 25. (S31) D (Calgary Dragons) - Adam Kaiser || +17 Grade: 89.30 Past Seasons: S38-88, S39-42 At 25 is another Calgary Dragon, Adam Kaiser, who is in the top-30 for the first time scoring 8 goals and 43 points, hoping to take the successful run in Hamilton to Western Canada. Kaiser has also been underrated in his two-way game, playing well defensively and being a tough guy to play against with his fourth season with over 100 hits. 24. (S28) RW (West Kendall Platoon) - Mikko Linna || +14 Grade: 89.40 Past Seasons: S32-76, S33-81, S34-98, S35-61, S36-48, S37-48, S38-17, S39-38 At 24 is S28 Platoon winger Mikko Linna, still putting up 40 point seasons with 17 goals and 48 points, something that people do not expect year after year from this guy, but get it anyway. Linna has seen his physical game drop from previous years, though, so it is possible his offensive effectiveness will decline as well with regression. 23. (S28) RW (New England Wolfpack) - Dieter Dominique || +27 Grade: 89.80 Past Seasons: S34-51, S35-86, S36-59, S37-73, S38-59, S39-50 At 23 is Wolfpack winger dieter Dominique, coming back up after what some thought might be the end of his days in the top-100, scoring 25 goals and 49 points, registering a whopping 232 shots, and even setting a career high in hits with 90. Dominique is one of those "go about your business" players, not showing a lot of flash but still producing, whether it is a lot or just a little. 22. (S21) D (Minnesota Chiefs) - Alonzo Garbanzo || -15 Grade: 90 Past Seasons: S23-59, S24-76, S25-18, S26-30, S27-13, S28-3, S29-15, S30-6, S31-4, S32-4, S33-9, S34-2, S35-5, S36-2, S37-3, S38-3, S39-7 At 22 is Alonzo Garbanzo of the Chiefs, an old player who is starting to show signs of it, scoring only 8 goals and 33 points, the lowest of his career since way back in S23 where he scored only 27 points. However, he has been on a pretty fantastic run, scoring 30 or more points in the last 16 straight seasons, and could continue that in S40. 21. (S28) G (Edmonton Blizzard) - Michael McFadden || +5 Grade: 90.10 Past Seasons: S31-73, S32-73, S33-56, S34-58, S35-21, S36-26, S37-42, S38-16, S39-26 At 21 is Blizzard goaltender Michael McFadden, rising up a few spots with a half decent season where he went 24-17-2 and registered a .908 save percentage. McFadden is quite spry for his older age, and is still showing the younger goaltenders in the league that he still has what it takes to win and win big. All he needs now is a Challenge Cup. 20. (S26) C (Texas Renegades) - Sven Karlsson || +32 Grade: 90.20 Past Seasons: S29-85, S30-61, S31-78, S32-74, S33-46, S34-90, S35-63, S36-56, S37-60, S38-46, S39-52 At 20 is Renegades center Sven Karlsson, with one of his best seasons yet, scoring 15 goals and 51 points, a +17 on the year, and demonstrating a lot of determination as an old veteran in the league. If you want to talk about Texas as the model franchise when it comes to player responsibility and dedication to the sport, just point to Sven Karlsson as your example.
