![]() <div align="center">Stars Rising in Toronto</div> Toronto hasn’t seen playoff hockey since S37 and has undergone quite the drastic overhaul. Only one of their top 5 scorers from that team are still on the team and only four players from that team remain (Kristian Eriksson, Chris York, Elias Lindstrom, and Mark Harter). They went into a full rebuild acquiring a host of young talent that has already made the SHL roster (Bobby Watson, Blabar Bananerstrom, and Tommy Tuck), and a pool of send downs that is certainly one of the deepest in the league. Well now it’s time for those investments to pay dividends. With a host of call ups for the S41 season expected Toronto is aiming to go from not quite good enough to make the playoffs and not quite bad enough to be the worst team in the league, to a young team determine to put the Eastern Conference on notice. So this isn’t just an article to say “hey look at usâ€, but to say if you are a free agent defenseman that wants to be apart of something special, then Toronto should be more than on your radar. It should be right near the top of your list, here is why. <div align="center">Top Line Talent</div> There can’t be an argument on who in the league has the best chemistry on their first line. For two seasons in a row the line of York - Lindstrom - Eriksson has dominated the league, amassing a staggering 375 points in those two seasons. On top of that, they’ve been doing so without a true top pair defending the blue line. Coming to Toronto will put you in a position to put up career numbers with those points being spread out more among quality players. <div align="center">Young D-Core on the Way Up</div> You find your way to Toronto you won’t be alone on the blue line like in past seasons. It is expected that Toronto will be bringing up their stash of blue line talent. First you have Bob Bergen of the Detroit Falcons coming off the greatest goal scoring season for a defenseman in Falcons history. Next to him is the Physt of Kelowna in Richard Physt, who is a throwback to the old school of defending with fast skating and big hitting. The final two are a couple of Mammoths from Colorado in Ti-Guy Emond and Gilmore Tuttle, who hopefully will use their time in Colorado to get immediate chemistry in Toronto. These call ups will revive the depth in defense, which will be a relief to goaltender Tommy Tuck who saw an absurd near 38 shots/game as a rookie. These will add much balance to a previously offensive reliant North Star team. <div align="center">The Glamour Line</div> The defense isn’t the only part of the team that is getting deeper, but the known call up of Mikhail Lokitonov is expected to also signal the call ups of center Florence Clijsters, and winger Luuk Kraaijkamp. After the last draft, these three have become close as teammates and are itching to hit the ice together. But what’s a line without a great name? Looking at these players and the style they play with, the name of the Glamour Line was easy. Well if they play as well as they look they will be an impressive trio for the future of the North Stars. <div align="center">Revived Locker Room Culture</div> I don’t think it would be unfair to say that a few seasons ago that the North Stars lost a lot activity and it hurt their appeal throughout the league, but I am ecstatic with where we are at compared to when I was drafted to Toronto only three seasons ago. Activity has really gone up drastically with additions of Incite and engi to the team, and its really helped us all get really pumped for S41. This is a completely different vibe from just a few seasons ago and credit to Symmetric for how well he’s rebuilt not just the prospect pool but the locker room too. <div align="center">Final Pitch</div> This is an opportunity to walk into a young locker room and make an immediate impact. We have the cap space to make signings and are ready to put the money where our mouths are. No more time to follow the rest of the league. The north star is supposed to be the brightest in the sky and this team is ready to shine. Code: Word Count: 732 |
